Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"Cold." Nico answered promptly. "A little damp, but it’s raining buckets over in LA, so I suppose it would be." He smiles at Will, before he recalls something, smile sliding off his face like water. "Uh - Hey, about last time… I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to snap at you - I was just stressed out and worried about my dad."
"You had every right to be stressed. It's fine." Will smiled, a bit more genuinely this time. "Although I do hope you won't shadow travel away next time while you're still recovering." He finally took a step back and let go of Nico. "Come on. Lets get a bit of food in you and I can fill you in on what you missed."
whoops, late valentine’s day solangelo sketch
just sketched this up really quick, I was planing to do more but I didn’t have time to. I had this whole plan to make something awesome and well colored but this better than nothing right?
Happy late Valentine’s Day
“ Unfortunately for you, it doesn’t work like that. You’re not some worthless healer in Camp Half-Blood now, Solace. You’re a soldier. Medics should able to protect themselves, ———same as anyone else. ”
"They hate you now, you know. At least most of them do. Barely anyone who's left on that side sees any hope in you anymore, Percy."
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"Define okay," Nico griped, though he gave Will a grateful smile. "Thanks for the catch - I could have definitely ended up a lot worse… What’s up with that face?" He asks, seeing the distressed expression on his friend’s face. "You look upset."
"Nothing." Will forced a smile. It wasn't really even that forced, it just called for pushing the whole: 'the gods might die' thing to the back of his mind. Truth be told, that was a little difficult. "You're whole though, right? No fading?" He looked Nico over. From this angle there wasn't anything physically wrong with him. "How was the underworld?"
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"It’s fine." Nico’s voice is gentle - he reassures him with a soft little smile. "Let me gather some proof, and I’ll be on my way." The group dispersed, and Nico smiles down at Will. "Don’t you worry - I won’t let him see me." A mischevious glint entered his eyes. "I’ll do one better. He’s not occupied…" Nico leaves, and a more familiar boy stumbles into the space he’d left behind.
"Will?" Nico looks around wildly, alarm on his face. "I didn’t mean to shadow travel this time," He groans. "Now I have to be more careful leaning against walls…" He complains to Will.
Something in the god's eyes made Will nervous, but before he could voice those concerns Nico was gone. Or, one version of Nico was gone. The healer immediately grasped Nico's arms to keep him steady. He didn't feel like he was about to fade, that probably should have been cue for Will to release him.
"It's okay, it's not your-" He stopped himself. Perhaps telling Nico about the fact that there was a version of him that was a god wasn't the best idea. "Are you alright?"
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"Do you think they’ll do anything?" Nico asks him pityingly, his voice soft and gentle. "They won’t listen to reason. It got them killed." He closes his eyes, sighs. "But I’ll try, if you wish to be rid of me that badly." Blunt, unassuming. He knows Will is uncomfortable - for everyone else, it’s palpable. "I ought to start with Hades - he’s likely to be the easiest to convince."
Will looked down again, suddenly feeling guilty. Nico had been through enough, Will couldn't imagine what he'd lost in his time and now he was trust back into a world where none of it had happened yet. He was just trying to help. His tone was less hostile when he spoke again. "Don't let Nico see you. It might... mess with his head." The blond frowned for a moment before continuing. "Sorry, I'm being stupid. But... be careful."
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"That’ll be fine. Even if the gods fall, an Oracle will be able to contact the Fates." Nico’s voice is firm, breathes out with a little sigh. "Though… There is a chance that this may not happen. You have at least three months before these events - the gods may or may not listen, though I doubt my presence will help matters."
"Why don't you just warn the gods?" Will spoke, fixing his eyes on Nico's face for the first time since he entered the room. "You're a god too, they'll believe you." It was a terrible plan, and the healer knew it was a terrible plan, but he really wanted to get out of this meeting as soon as possible.
Will does these things in inappropriate times.
Little baby Nico is how I coped with the lack of internet.
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"We had no prophesy." Nico answers calmly. "It’s not just here that’s affected. Thousands of people die, Chiron. I’m here now because something or someone gave me a warning. Rachel was killed three days before she was to return to camp. Chiron. The gods do not just die. Olympus falls, it crushes most of Manhattan - The Mist disappears." Nico’s a little angry, and the shadows all darken, before he takes a breath, relaxes. "I wouldn’t have told you if there was a prophesy involved - you would have known then - but in this case… It’s a lot larger than you think. There is a chance that other gods - Egyptian gods and Norse gods - they could get involved."
The campers were stunned into silence for a few moments. Losing the gods would be scary on it's own, but Nico made it sound inevitable. "I can leave camp and guard Rachel. If someone who knows about this is with her..." It was Clarisse again. "If anything does start, we can try to get the police to evacuate parts of Manhattan, maybe save a few lives."
She was looking to Nico for confirmation. Chiron too. In fact, to the whole room, Nico seemed to be the one who should be in charge.
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"I have been for a while," Nico agrees, ignoring the way Will had reacted, while everyone else stared in horrified fascination. "Where I come from… The gods died. All of them." Nico sighed, wrapping his hand quickly. "A lot of us died in the aftermath, and I took my father’s place. It wasn’t my favorite idea, but it had to be done."
"And you believe there's some danger of the gods dying in this universe?" Chiron spoke. He seemed to be the only one who hadn't been put into shock by Nico's new development. "While we are grateful and we know you didn't come here intentionally, are you sure warning us is a good idea?"
Conner piped up from his side of the room, his eyes still fixed on the ichor that was staining the table. "We haven't had any prophecies, the oracle will warn us if it's something this big. We're fine." Although he didn't sound at all sure of his own proclamation.
"Well I’m giving myself the authority, since you’re in no shape to argue.” She said with finality. “Everyone in Camp isn’t going to suddenly keel over if you take a day or two to rest. She remembered the cough syrup she hadn’t yet given him, and poured two tablespoons worth of the syrup into the cap. She waited for the second fit to pass, lightly patting his back before offering the medicine.
"And I’ll help you out while you recover." She may as well stick around since she was already here and already vaccinated.
He took the cough syrup without complaint, although that didn't stop him from making a face as he swallowed the 'cherry-flavored' syrup. "You don't need to do that." Will sighed, looking up at her with a small smile. "Just... check in on me before dinner or something. I'll be ok."
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"That would be because I am Di Angelo." Nico smirks, takes a seat. "Let’s say I had a little mishap while shadow-travelling, and ended up here." Nico flips a dagger out of his sleeve and, knowing full well someone would panic, stabs himself. There’s a shriek from a fair number of them, and Nico lifts his hand as it bleeds gold ichor onto the table.
Okay, he’d wanted to do that for a long, long time.
"Just not one you would recognize."
Half the kids couldn't look at what had just happened, the other half couldn't take their eyes off of it. Will was out of his seat and kneeling next to Nico before the other two Apollo girls could react. He took Nico's bleeding hand in his own, already searching his pack for bandages before realizing what liquid was seeping out of Nico's hand.
"A god." Will spoke. There was a layer of disgust in his voice. It wasn't because of Nico directly. It was because this Nico wasn't his Nico, he wasn't even remotely close to his Nico. Will dropped his hand and tossed him the bandages. "He's a god."
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
Nico watched him, raised a single brow. “I do not recall him being quite so snappy,” Nico decided, before smiling up at Chiron. “Nice to see you again.” Nico remarked, even as the aged teacher eyed him. “If we may take this to the Big House? I do have a few concerns you may want to hear about.” Chiron nodded, led Nico to the house warily, but the wards accepted him like an old friend, rippled and glowed brighter for a moment.
The room was already full of the counselors by the time the two arrived - word had spread.
Will had taken a seat at the far end of the table. The two chairs beside him were filled by two other obnoxiously blonde Apollo girls. While Will avoided looking at Nico, the two girls stared him down. Clarisse was the one to break the silence.
"What are you?" She eyed him warily. "You look just like Di Angelo."
Meeting a God - [Open Starter, God AU]
"… No." Nico managed finally. "Nothing at all," He murmured, heart thudding painfully against his ribcage. "You may want to call a meeting," He advised crisply, already settling his indifferent mask over his face yet again. "Ah. there he is. Fresh from archery, it seems."
Chiron clopped up to them, somewhere between bafflement and confusion. “Will, would you mind explaining what’s going on here?”
Will doubted that the immortal was telling the truth, but he hid his emotions well. The healer continued forward and met Chiron halfway. "This is Nico, not our Nico. He's some kind of immortal. I'll grab the other counselors if you want to take him to the Big House."
The son of Apollo had turned on his heels and was headed away from Nico before he even got an answer. He and his Nico had had a bit of a disagreement last time they had seen each other. Seeing this Nico brought it back into his mind more harshly than he would like.
"Yeah but you’re also human. Better safe than sorry,” she countered. Though the point was a moot now really. “Though I can get not liking needles.” It was a common phobia—even if it was a tad ironic coming from Will Solace of all campers. Passing him the box of tissues she frowned at the earlier statement. He didn’t even sound sure of that proclamation.
"Nope. You’re resting for at least a day. You aren’t the only healer in the cabin, and I find it hard to believe that anyone would have a problem with you taking all the time you need to fully get over the cold." She would have a problem if there were any protests. The Apollo cabin did a lot for the rest of the camp, especially their counselor, Will. Everyone deserves a break. “So you’re officially on bed rest.”
"You do realize that you don't have the authority to put me on bed rest, right?" Will grinned. He took a tissue and blew his nose. Then the healer sat back on his bed, leaning against the pillows. "I just ha-" Will grabbed another tissue and coughed into it almost violently. "I have a cold. I'm not as bad as I look." The coughing came back again. He couldn't go back to his cabin like this, he would get someone else sick. "I'll stay here."
