WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!
had this au kicking around about Catra agreeing to marry She-Ra for political reasons having no idea it’s actually Adora, and of course Adora who’s beside herself standing so close to Catra again but can’t reveal who she is yet. They’re both wartorn and desperate.
[image description: a black and white sketch of Adora as She-Ra and Catra, facing each other in profile. Catra looks tired and a little worried, and She-Ra looks reserved but barely hiding an earnestness, maybe a longing. She-Ra’s hands are held in front of her a little awkwardly, like she wants to reach out and touch Catra, but recognizing she is a stranger to her. Catra has short hair and an outfit similar to her s4 outfit, with a small cape fitted over her shoulders. End ID]
if a hand kiss isn’t done with either reverent trembling and closed eyes or with a certain slow sensuality and direct ‘fuck me’ eye contact, you are wasting my time and everyone else’s
While I am a fan of both of these kinds, I feel like limiting all available variety of hand kisses to only these two is missing quite a lot.
For instance:
- “I was just holding your hand to convey sincerity and you said something I don’t have an immediate answer to, so I’m going to kiss your hand instead.”
- “you’re only semi-lucid and are sort of reaching for my face and for various reasons I shouldn’t kiss YOUR face, but your hand is right here and I still need to convey affection”
- “your hand is the only part of you with only minor injuries and the doctor [healer, whatever] is right there and will get mad at me if I move you”
- “you were going to play-hit me but I’m actually much faster in the reflexes than you and also my catching your hand and kissing it is part of our game”
- “you just touched my face so your palm is right there”
- “I’m extremely happy about something and this felt like the best spontaneous action, what am I, an expert on motivations?”
- “this is YOUR hand, so it is particularly delightful to me”
- “we were cuddling and holding hands and I felt like it”
- “I was just struck by the overwhelming delight I feel at your existence and your hand was the most conveniently positioned thing to kiss in response to this thought process”
… .to name but a few.

Don’t know why it’s seems so futile to grasp the concept of an independent female character who has an aim in her life as she sharpens her expertise to reach her own standards, while also maintaining a relationship or being in love? These two things can co-exist and Inej Ghafa is one of the perfect examples of that. She isn’t less independent or stronger just cause she’s with Kaz. Kaz isn’t all of what she is, she has her own character, her own personality, her own dreams, and even the bonds that she’s created as well. Don’t undermine her or resort her to just her love interest and relationship when she deserves nothing more than to be appreciated for who she is.
Stan Inej Ghafa.
pride and prejudice kanej au, animated (sort of) so the whole thing is viewable at once 💕
the crows are so fun because they aren’t a group of cynical kids trying to take over the world, they’re a bunch of traumatized children who have been wronged by their society whose only motivation is to do better for themselves.
i’ve seen so many people saying that six of crows is actually a new-adult book, that there’s no way the characters are sixteen and seventeen, but them being that age is what adds dimension to this tale and makes it so sad. they’re not supposed to be master acrobats and locksmiths and bomb makers and sharpshooters.
inej shouldn’t have been sold into slavery and then spent her time running into dangerous places with her acrobatic skills at sixteen. wylan shouldn’t have been almost killed by his father and tossed on the streets and a prodigy demolition guy at sixteen. kaz shouldn’t essentially be a gang leader, a master locksmith and the head of a criminal underworld at seventeen. jesper shouldn’t be the city’s best at sharpshooting and addicted to gambling at seventeen. nina shouldn’t have been a part of an army and then been taken prisoner and sent to death and then forced to work in a brothel at seventeen. matthias shouldn’t have spent a year in a prison literally named hell and then died at the hand of a younger version of himself at eighteen.
but they are and that’s the power behind the story. it isn’t just about the amazing heists and the tanks and the scheming, it’s about the little pet names and nina teasing kaz about his hair and jesper flirting with wylan like a teenager and kaz being unable to talk to inej about his crush on her and all of the crows flocking to colm fahey as a father figure and matthias thinking nina is indecent and gorgeous and them just being friends, being found family. no matter how hard they hide it they are children who were forced to grow up way too fast who want to be loved.
and they found that in each other and they saved each other and they want to save others, other children, and i think that’s very powerful and that’s what elevates the story.
imagine thinking you're going to visit your son at university but ending up adopting five of his criminal friends
Alina: I’m kind of crushing on someone, but I’m worried about telling you who it is, because you’re not going to like it.
Baghra: Just rip the bandage off.
Alina: It’s the Darkling.
Baghra: Put the bandage back on.
Being asexual is good, actually. Talking about being asexual is cool and good. Aces can have fun with their sexuality and pride too. Ace pride is a good thing.
“A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who had become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse.”
The Crows at the beginning of Six of Crows and at the end of Crooked Kingdom. I wanted to draw hands and it grew into something more. The designs are inspired by both the show and the books.

SIX OF CROWS APPRECIATION WEEK — DAY TWO
↳ FAVORITE SHIP: KAZ BREKKER & INEJ GHAFA
“I can hear the change in Kaz’s breathing when he looks at you.”
“You… you can?”
“It catches every time, like he’s never seen you before.”
i love every part of six of crows and all the ships but it also defines found family and soulmates so well because every crow loves every other in such a specific and perfect way, the kind that reminds you this is a group of teenagers who are fighting the world but still have all this capacity for love.
you have kaz and inej’s best friends to lovers, their little window-sitting routine where they don’t need to talk to feel each other. you have nina and inej’s waffle dates and complaints about boys and faith in each other. you have wylan and nina’s little scheme with smeet, the way he’s impressed with her and the way she teases about bullying him. you have wylan and matthias, matthias wondering if he’ll have to intercede while kaz has his cane to wylan’s throat, wylan considering matthias the naive one of them. you have matthias and jesper, jesper being the flirt and matthias getting embarassed by him and thinking he’s hilarious, jesper thinking matthias has this heart full of honor. you have jesper and nina, both flirting ketterdam into submission, dealing with their at first ignorant boyfriends, sharing camaraderie. you have nina and kaz, the obnoxious completely platonic flirting and the grudging respect for each other’s skills, the two of them playing each other but still being in each other’s corner. you have kaz and wylan and the way kaz sees himself in wylan and wylan sees a figure to respect in kaz, kaz telling wylan to have no shame in who he is, falling on top of a table together. you have wylan and inej and their mutual bond dating two idiotic brothers, the oft underestimated ones of the group, finding peace in each other as people who want to be good. you have inej and jesper and their care for each other, their mutual crush on kaz and the sheer angst jesper feels when he realizes he may have hurt her. you have jesper and kaz who are like brothers but first and foremost best friends, two boys who just want the other to be better, who understand each other’s weaknesses better than themselves. you have kaz and matthias, the druskelle and the demjin, the teasing that comes from a grudging and then deserved sense of mutual respect. you have matthias and nina and falling in love after a shipwreck, protecting someone even in death, finding each other, dreaming of each other. you have matthias and inej and bonding over religious conviction, matthias thinking inej is too good for kaz and inej teasing that he isn’t enough for nina. you have jesper and wylan and a kiss that feels like a gunshot, the teasing and falling in with a love for each other’s skills, for the ability to understand each other so intimately, the spin of a makker’s wheel.
they love each other so much.
