i just want betsy to be able to live her best life. deciding not to seriously date while she’s so active as a super, but she’ll still hook up with some of her fellow supers or other girls. and then when supers are made illegal she finally lets herself be in more actual relationships. where she allows herself to love and not be afraid of it. and then realizes just how lonely she was and she just meets a girl and she doesn’t have to try hard with hero work being a pressure and things are just good.

They pulled a chair from under the table to sit. “A few days before they went missing they got something in the mail about doing secret super work.. something about a rogue military bot or something..”

Clifford shrugged, bringing one knee up close to their chest.

“..They didn’t say where they were going, just said that they would be back soon. I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone about it, because it was secret, but after a few days I got worried.. you know..”

betsy sighed and sat down on a chair across from clifford.  ❝ i ― i’m sorry... ❞ apogee usually tried to keep hopeful, but with the details that they were out on a secret assignment, she could only think the assignment didn’t go the way things planned.  ❝ hopefully, things will still work out and be better. ❞ despite it being a few months, apogee could still offer up hopeful thoughts, even if she didn’t believe them herself.

They sniffled, still keeping their gaze to the floor. They began to twiddle with their fingers, trying to find the right words. “..Yeah.. yeah.. I was staying with them..” They nodded before continuing.

“..They’re.. missing..” They put the tips of their index fingers together, uncomfortably forcing themselves to explain the situation.

“..It’s been a few months.. and the national supers agency decided it was time to stop looking.. if they can’t find them.. they assumed they were as good as dead..” Their shoulders slumped as they let their hands fall to their sides.

❝ missing ― ?! ❞ apogee raised her eyebrows in surprise. she had a few choice words about the nsa forgoing looking for her friends, but she wasn’t going to get into that now.  ❝ did they just disappear in the middle of the night ? or give you any sense of where they could’ve gone ? ❞

her sullenly— which was a

stark contrast to their

usual care free, joyous

personality.

They had a duffel bag over one of their shoulders, and seemed to have their eyes glued to the floor. Walking through the door, they kept their head to the ground, bringing a depressing wave of cold air with them into the house.

“ ..is it okay if crash here for a bit..?” They asked, setting their bag down on the table.

They ran a hand through their hair, still keeping their gaze to the floor. Even with the door shut, the cold air kept circulating through the room .

following macroburst’s enterence there had been a cool breeze fly past her, a stark contrast from her usually warm room. she eyed their duffel bag, hoping that everything was alright. she closed the door behind them.  ❝ yeah, of course. is there something wrong? i thought that you had been staying with everseer and psycwave. did something happen? ❞ betsy had mostly kept to herself since supers went under. she figured it would be easiest for her to stay under the radar if she didn’t see her super friends that often. she never heard any new news from anyone.

The disappearances and supposed deaths of Everseer and Psycwave had left them numb, the world suddenly felt a lot colder without their teammates. Plasmabolt had been the only other remaining member of the Phantasmics aside from them. But after Everseer and Psycwave were ruled deceased Plasmabolt had retired from the masked life and had moved on to focus on advocating for the environment.

That left them alone, without family. There was no possible way for them to go home, they needed other options. It would’ve been easier if Supers hadn’t begun to retire since the ban on supers was starting to become more than just talk.

It took a while, but they managed to track down Apogee. Admittedly it was difficult, but they were desperate for somebody.

That’s how they ended up knocking on the door to Apogee’s home— or at least her supposed home.

with the BAN on supers, betsy had decided to try and embrace the new life she was forced to have all the time. for awhile she enjoyed it. there had been so much STRESS near the end of the superheroes that having a chance to just live and not worry about others or about keeping her lives separate, was NICE.

she’d been able to take earlier shifts for her waitress job, so it was nice to have her nights free once more. she felt like she could have time to socialize, and relax more. on the other hand, she missed being active out in the world. she missed her SUPER friends. who she could really be herself around. she had been laying on a chair in her apartment, legs over the arm seat and reading a magazine when she heard a knock at the door. 

she raised an eyebrow as she set her magazine down and made her way to the door. she was worried it might’ve been an nsa agent, who was going to chew her in for stopping a potential robbery the other day. she opened the door and her eyes flew open in surprise.  ❝ macro ― ! ❞ she had to stop herself. never knew who was listening close by.  ❝ ER ― clifford ! what’re you doing here ? ❞ she smiled brightly at seeing a familiar face. apogee stepped to the side,  ❝ come in. ❞
