Why could nothing stay simple? Not even a friendship? Seojin had grown up with the Choi siblings since they were kids and had been attached at the hip for just as long. It had always been nice and simple, and it was easy to hang out around them. Their relationship had always been straightforward - just friends, nothing more. There were no romance-y feelings to be had. Not even when his parents asked him when he would finally break down and ask Mimi to go out with him.Â
And truly he thought that maybe one day he would. That would have been expected. What was not expected was for him to suddenly and inexplicably start having feelings for Sunny instead. Sunny, the boy. The man. Y chromosome and all. He had never had feelings for a boy before, at least not like this. It was very confusing and Seojin did not know what to make of it. He didn’t know what to do. All he really knew was that he had no idea what to do and would just have to wait to see what was going to happen.Â
Seojin was pulled out of these worrying thoughts be the sound of Sunny’s voice coming up from the living room. “I’ll just be another minute! I misplaced my phone!” Seojin yelled. In truth, his phone was sitting on his bed next to Molly. He just wasn’t about to admit that he had zoned out thinking about Sunny and how he’d very much like to kiss Sunny.
Shaking the thought off, Seojin picked up both Molly and his phone before heading downstairs. Downstairs to find Sunny stretched out on the sofa looking like a whole freaking meal. Damn you, Will Turner. “Sorry it took so long,” Seojin said, trying to make like he had not just been thinking about kissing Sunny on the sofa. “We’re ready to go now, right girl?” He asked Molly, who just looked at Seojin like he had grown a second head.
Seojin’s reply came from somewhere upstairs, voice disembodied in the abyss of the house. “Alrighty!” Sunny sing-songed back, sinking into the couch once again. He considered helping Seojin in his search, that would probably be the useful thing to do. Otherwise they may never get to that walk. Not that Sunny would mind, walking wasn’t exactly the reason he made himself so available to Seojin all the time. Besides, Sunny was pretty sure his heart got a workout just looking at the man at this point. If Seojin ever saw his Fitbit history his heart rate alone would give him away immediately.Â
What was he doing again? Right. Lost phone. Helping. Being useful. Maybe he should call it? Patting his back pocket briefly, Sunny groaned. Oh yeah. His own phone was on the floor somewhere still. Hanging off the couch slightly, Sunny’s eyes locked onto the device. Face down. No case. Well, no point delaying the inevitable. Snatching his phone from the ground, Sunny released a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding. Luck was on his side today, his screen was intact.Â
Sunny was just typing in his password before scrolling to Seojin’s contact name when he heard steps coming down the stairs and into the living room. “All good! Did you find your phone?” Sunny asked, finally making the effort to pull himself off the couch and to his feet. Once upright, Sunny looked at Seojin for the first time today. He seemed... stressed out? Sunny was pretty good at reading people, especially Mimi and Seojin, but he’d never seen this expression on his face. “Jinnie? You alright?” Sunny asked, taking a step towards him to see him a little closer, “We don’t have to go for a walk if you’re not feeling good.”Â
Sunny almost raised a hand to feel Seojin’s forehead, check for a fever, but thought better of it at the last minute, burying his hands into the sleeves of his hoodie instead. “I could... ask Mimi to bring you some soup or something?” he asked. Sunny shamefully hoped the answer would be no but he’d understand if it was a yes. Mimi and Seojin were basically inevitable at this point, no matter the sinking feeling in Sunny’s stomach over it.Â
