Okay, but this is really adorable.
Why is it me? Because I’m the one talking all the shit.

It’s the weirdest thing. I feel like I’ve been in a coma for about twenty years. And I’m just now waking up.
American Beauty, 1999.
I love how two of my favorite characters in animation are exact opposites.
One is a caring and thoughtful individual hidden underneath the mask of a cold-hearted bully. The other is a cold-hearted bully hidden underneath the mask of a caring and thoughtful individual.
But what makes this interesting is the fact that they actually have a few things in common, and yet are so opposite in these similarities that they sit at the opposite ends of the spectrum they share. Sounds like a paradox, doesn’t it? That’s why I find this interesting.
Both masks are as transparent as a large, clean window to the viewer, though the latter’s mask is the only one that is almost completely transparent to other characters in his respective show’s universe. Both masks are also not entirely false either, but instead a smaller extension of the character’s overall personality. They have some truth in them.
Both are closely tied to a goody two shoes protagonist that doesn’t know that the character’s outward personality is a mask and that there is something more hiding underneath it… at first. And when they do their perceptions of the character change quite a bit: the former positively and the latter oh so negatively.
Best part though: both are so well developed with enough backstory to explain everything that is wrong with them and a characterization that can simultaneously make you feel sorry for them and want to slap them in the face. And yet even in this regard they are opposites: the more characterization the former gets, the more you want to give her a big ol’ hug for comfort and hope everything works out well for her, and the more characterization the latter gets, the more you are torn between giving him a comfort hug and strangling the fuck out of him.

behaving like a grown-up is many things. first and foremost, it’s doing things that you hate doing. like dealing with people that make you unhappy, being stressed about things you have no control over, and working soul numbing jobs. then, gradually, as we endure these hardships and accept them as normal, that’s when we’ve finally earned the right to get drunk and be emotionally distant from our families. // indie clay puppington of moral orel. selective & private. triggering content. written by chelsea. art credit

—(( one bare shoulder lifted high, hiding a charming smile that had earned her many green bills on its own. “ some people strictly want to watch. ” having said that, milena ( or lioness as she was during these hours ) neatly positioned herself on the man’s lap so she could start moving her body to the music blaring in the background. “ I could tell you aren’t one of those people. ”
clay leaned against the back of his seat to allow room for her as she straddled his legs. “ you were right. ” his right hand held a glass of whiskey, but his left hand landed atop the girl’s thigh, which he probably wasn’t supposed to do. as he did, he caught sight of the wedding ring on his finger and quickly looked back up at the stripper, trying not to let his mind wander to his family.
