LOTTIE:
for such a vibrant, pure spirit, combusting with youth and warmth, lottie had a touch of death. plant after plant, she felt cursed. instead of a green thumb, she had a cursed thumb, and as the queen themselves once said, another one bit the dust. shyly, for once, she entered the moon garden, one of her frequent check-in points. the essence of flowers in the air was enough to turn up the corners of her mouth, a scent she desired in her own home, but usually had to settle for candles over the real thing. rowan appeared, immediately, which startled her. the plant suddenly appeared behind her back, an action she couldnât recall, but she continued to grin anyway. â hi, â her small voice chimed, muffled by the crowded shop. â oh, just visiting ! saying hello to my friend. â oh, right. that wasnât what he asked. â um âŠÂ â slowly, the plant appeared between their two bodies. it was a vibrant begonia, a flower lottie preferred for the aesthetics, and despite offering it ample sunlight, water, and love, it was holding on by a thin thread. â it happened again. â her lips turned downwards again, a sigh released through her nose. â iâm so bad at this, rowan ! i donât know what to do, â she whined, ableing herself to not stomp her feet or tear up.Â
âwell, itâs always so lovely to have you visit,â rowan answered warmly. the otherâs answering grin had his lips parting to reveal a sliver of white teeth. his smile unfortunately faded as worry appeared at the reveal of the begonia the younger owned. it was, unfortunately, not something that startled the elder when it came to the other. lottie, unfortunately, had a bit of a black thumb when it came to taking care of plants. this was another situation that revealed her struggle with the hobby. âoh dear,â he murmured, reaching out to carefully take the plant into his hands. his dark eyes studied the begonia with care as he tested the soil. âhm.â rowan shifted the plant to the cradle of one arm before taking the other to comfortingly place a hand between lottieâs shoulder blades. with a gentle amount of pressure, he began to lead her further into the shop and skillfully through the people mulling around. âitâs okay, lottie,â he comforted, leading her into the back room so that the two could talk in a quieter environment. this room was used as storage as well as a workspace and offered a large, lengthy table in its center at which rowan placed the struggling plant. ânow, how have you been taking care of it?? perhaps we will be able to figure out what went wrong.â
