if there is one overwhelming theme in clem’s life it’s hope. light headed, world turning hope; for the future, for her parents, for strangers she passes on the street. there are people who say rose tinted glasses, the belief that people can always be better than they seem, is weakness. weakness, as far as clem can tell, is the kind of word that gets thrown around when your belief in some innate goodness of humanity overpowers your senses.
she would like to think she could agree with them. but there are plenty of things she thinks are a weakness. trust is not one of them.
☠- angry/violent headcanon
it’s difficult to have your anger taken seriously when you’re 5′4, and look… well, like you’ve fallen out of the pages of a childrens book. clem is the kind of person whose anger s mostly punctuated with slamming doors, silence and avoidance of all eye-contact; mostly because she’s also plagued with the ever unfortunate angry tears which sets her voice wavering and leaves her looking more than a little weepy. the frustration it causes usually only contributes to the whole situation, so it’s better to be alone while she gets a level head again.
that being said most of her frustration is generally fairly well directed. on the rare occasion she’s particularly angry at any one person she’ll let them know. and if they don’t pay attention then as far as she’s concerned she’s given them fair warning.
☯ - likes/dislikes headcanon
likes - adventure, knitwear, the smell of a new book, the fragile shade of purple in the sky just before dawn breaks, good company, hiking boots, smiling at strangers, polaroids and the full moon when its light is so bright the darkness becomes less of a mystery.
dislikes - banana flavoring ( a sham of real banana), the colour orange, wood chips, anything with too many legs, being at home, being away from home, badly written fiction and seedy grapes.
she’s had a fairly idyllic childhood. picture summer holidays building sandcastles ( and kicking them back down ), climbing trees and basking in the sunlight. her father was a high school english teacher so their holidays often came around at the same time of year. they were close for as long as she can remember.
