Caroline chuckled and nodded, hopping up on the stool besides Dean. “Suppose you don’t need alcohol to taste good to get you drunk.” She leaned over and snagged a glass for herself. “So what has you drinking life away this time? Or is a we don’t talk about it, we just drink kind of night?”

Caroline rolled her eyes, she was good at being annoyingly emotional and knew it as well. “Well for the average person, sure, but we both know Jake doesn’t care what he says. He’s only careful about what he says when he cares and like most people, you don’t pock a bruise because it’ll hurt."

"We do, it's a shame you're emotionally unavailable and I'm emotionally damaged." Caroline joked at their obvious poor states of commitment. "I know, some of those things are the reason you want to leave at the same time though." Things were messy in Mystic Falls, especially if you were supernatural and while she would never exactly understand what he dealt with, she always tried to make it clear that he could still talk to her. Tell her anything and she's remain someone on his side who wouldn't get involved in trying to control his life. "You know I'll always be on your side, whatever you do. I'm team happiness, do what makes you happy, Jake." And with that, she took another drink.

"That's why I always liked you." Caroline joked, knowing that while Faye and Jake might be messy and confusing, she didn't hold any bias to who she could get along with. Jake was her best friend, but Faye was still nice too. "Sounds about right. He doesn't really bring you up, that's how I know it bothers him, not being with you."

Lucifer genuinely chuckled, itching at his beard as he considered his retort, though he settled on a simple modest shrug, “S’always flattering to hear people think m’angelic.” He finally offered, “Well, thank you darlin’, I’ll bare that in mind.”

“Might be that people are suckers for a good accent.” Caroline hinted to his southern drawl and gave him a happy shrug. Seeing as though Lucifer didn’t seem to be asking for anything quite yet, she figured she wouldn’t keep him any longer. “We’ll I’ll let you go then, I hope you settle in here without any issues.”

     Truth be told, Jake didn’t like much of anyone, or anything. Caroline was a rare exception, even on days he didn’t want to see anyone. “Yeah, sounds like you had a great time.” He’d missed out on the storm, and Faye had made sure to remind him. It was just another time he wasn’t there when he needed to be. “I’m starting to like this place less and less  –  not that I ever liked it to begin with.”

“Oh yeah, it was a blast. I should have just sat out in the storm instead, honestly.” She took a drink and sat back, crossing her legs as she looked over at Jake. “As you just said, you don’t like society, I don’t think you’re going to escape it anywhere else you go. Plus, you’d miss me too much to leave here forever.” Caroline teased and gave him a warm grin.
