Key to my Heart (open starter)
Okay, so maybe she’s drunk one too many cups of cappuccino - maybe even more. Three, four, six cups…? Just how many deciliters, maybe even liters, has she consumed of that oh-so-sweet caffeinated liquid…? Haruko distinctively remembers almost spilling the milk on her biology report while trying to open another carton of milk to make more cappuccino. Yeah, that meant over a liter of cappuccino entered her system in the past couple of hours.
The phrase “couple of hours” was the understatement of the century.
Somewhere between furiously ripping paper after paper and listening to the annoying scribbling sound of her mechanical pen against the paper had she realized it was way past four in the morning and that she spent over 48 hours in a row trying to word the results of her research correctly. Bathroom and food breaks included. And only after she stared at the old grandfather clock in the corner of the study for roughly ten seconds and let her glasses slide down to the bridge of her nose did a string of loud, heavy curses slip out of her mouth as she shot straight up from her chair almost knocking over her entire table in the process. Oh fuck, she had to wake up at eight o’clock sharp tomorrow and it was already four am and she still wasn’t asleep. Fuck.
In a record time of one minute and forty-eight seconds, Haruko managed to collect all of her books, writing utensils and the twenty-something papers lying around the table and stuff them into her bookbag and arrive in front of her room’s door. Sore digits reached out and grabbed the doorknob and twisted it, expecting the door to open with a click and a creak but she was greeted with silence and a locked door.
Haruko raised her brows. Didn’t she usually leave her room’s door unlocked…? Weird. Her fingers slid from the doorknob and dived into each one of her pockets in search for the key but that too was a fruitless effort.
"Oh, for the love of…"
A deep, deep sigh escaped the biologist’s mouth before she did a 180 on her right foot and plopped down on the floor in front of her door. Legs crossed, fingers tangled in her hair and a frown appeared on her lips. Lovely. Just lovely. Four am and she was stuck outside of her room with a heavy bookbag and the clothes from Friday on her.
To top it off just like whipped cream on top of strawberries, a loud boom reverberated throughout Hope’s Peak that made her flinch and not a second passed before she heard the rain hitting one of the hallway windows, staining the glass even further, making it almost impossible for the moonlight to pass trough.
Haruko just sighed once again and prayed that someone - anyone - would pass by and take pity on her. But it was four am on a Sunday, surely no one was awake at this ungodly hour, right…?

REBLOGGING TWICE BECAUSE I AM SMILING SO HARD. I WAS SAD AND NOW I AM NOT.
Whoops, hi again.
That was a short lived hiatus if I ever saw one. Since I took my hiatus, I’ve been frequenting my personal blog quite a lot. And seeing everything in the news got me thinking. If we want something, whether it be justice or freedom, we have to fight for it. And that can be applied to so many things. If you want to make somewhere a safe place, you have to fight to keep it a safe place. If you want something to happen, you have to make it happen. By running away from your problems, you’re not going to get anything done. Nothing is going to progress. You have to set up goals, you have to fight to reach those goals. So I’m coming back because I want to make a difference. This community is toxic. That much is understood and accepted among us. But what have we done to change that? We haven’t done anything. I’ve been here for six months now. It’s by far less toxic than the last community that I was in, that’s for sure. But it’s still toxic, and there are ways that we can fix that.
And I want to be able to help.
But the thing is, it’s going to take effort as a community to change and grow and make this a much less toxic place. There are plenty of things that we can do as a community, but instead of me throwing out all of my ideas at you all, I want to hear what your suggestions are, too. Send them my way over ask, submit, or request my Skype and we can talk about it.
I want to give back to this community. Because you’ve all become family to me in the past six months. No matter how toxic this place is, it’s all that a lot of us have. We can make a difference. We can change things. I’m not going to run away anymore. I’m going to stand and try my damnedest to make a difference. …So who’s with me?
this is a blog that will not judge you based on your ability to be grammatically correct / fluent in the english language. meaning, if you’re having difficulty replying to a thread because of language barriers — i will be 100% empathetic. meaning, i won’t reblog posts critically bashing roleplayers based on their writing style, because i don’t know the struggles that each person goes through in regards to writing. meaning, i won’t nitpick little grammatical errors in your reply.
please don’t ever feel inferior because english is your second language or you have a disability that keeps you from formulating “the perfect sentence.” the fact that you’re trying is enough, and you don’t have to prove anything to anyone.
here have a munday selfie as an apology for v ery late replies/dropped threads/my tardiness my hair is a fucking mess but that's not the problem here

No Mourning for the Wicked (Open RP)
Forte had to admit she was truly surprised to see someone who really knew the industry, and even more relieved to see someone understood her standpoint against the companies. Hands buried into her pocket, she smiled brightly at Haruko when she noticed the look of surprise on the other’s face. Was the girl starstruck? Oh boy.
"It’s a pleasure to meet you Shionoya-ssi! Judging by the look on your face, I guess you know enough about the industry’s number one headache."
A cheery smile concealed the wariness of the ex-idol, but no one was the wiser. Besides she probably wasn’t painting the picture of what the media assumed was the Rebel Idol, and she was perfectly content with that. Hopefully, she would be able to place herself in better light in the future but until then, she was more than willing to stay in hiding.
"If you want my honest opinion, I think the music industry would be a lot better if they treated the idols properly. Anti-stalker laws would help too. But let’s talk about the industry later, what brings you to Busan?"
'Shionoya-ssi'...? Mixing Korean honorifics with English speech? An odd thing to do, but it was probably more of a habit than anything else. A habit Haruko never caught onto - honorifics were omitted from her vocabulary a long time ago. Not just from her Korean vocabulary, but from her other languages too, so hearing a honorific being used alongside her name - especially from the language she considered to be her native tongue - felt... Weird. Odd. But certainly good and kind of refreshing.
"Ehehe, I know more about the industry than I'm willing to admit, to be honest..."
And here we see Haruko speaking before she thinks part one thousand and ninety six. Once she realized what she blurted out, her cheeks warmed up slightly and she felt a pang of embarrassment hit her gut. Well, this was embarrassing. Play it cool, Haruko. Laugh it off. No one will suspect a thing. A smile is the perfect, foolproof method of concealing everything. Haruko just hoped the Rebel Idol would not question her words. This was a talk between a normal citizen and a normal citizen, not between a fan and an idol.
Speaking of idols and fame, Haruko checked their surroundings once again. Sure, it was the third time she did that, but carelessness was the mother of all problems and if they weren't on their toes throughout this whole conversation, hell would break over. Noticing that most people were ignoring the two girls, Haruko decided that it was safe to switch to speaking in Korean.
Her Gyeongsang accent was a bit thicker than usual and she seemed to mix standard Korean and dialectal Korean while she spoke, "You can only spend so much time outside of home before you start getting homesick. Plus, I haven't seen my abuji in... well, roughly three years. In person, that is," her grip on her suitcase loosened a little and she stretched out her fingers, "and I think that it would only be fair if I paid him a visit. He doesn't know I'm in Busan yet though. Dunno if I should tell him right away or make this a surprise..."
"No… not really that sociable… People can just get too loud, y’know?"
You shrug, and scratch the back of your head while trying, and failing, to remember her name. Why were all these names so many goddamn syllables.
"But uh!! I don’t mind!! I’m a Biotechnician!! What about you?"
He was a biotechnician. A freaking biological technician. Finally, someone she could talk with about a wide variety of topics without receiving odd and confused looks as if she had a Siamese twin attached to her forehead. Haruko had to hold back her excitement while she spoke.
"Looks like our talents are quite similar - I'm a biologist, heh." Well, she didn't exactly contribute much to the conversation, but at least she managed not to sound excited. Good job, Haruko.

"…It’s not just Halloween. It’s also my sixteenth birthday, and I just. I’m scared that all the friends that I’ve made are going to forget, and favor the holiday over my birthday, and I just— Mnnn."
For once in her life, Haruko could actually relate to someone one hundred percent. All of your friends celebrating a holiday instead of your birthday really hurt, especially when you're forced to relive the experience over and over again each year. It's kind of like that situation where you invite everyone to your seventh birthday party and no one comes because they don't know you so you end up sulking in your room with a crooked birthday hat and a half-eaten cake.
Except that only happens once, this time you know everyone and you aren't a naive seven year old kid anymore.
"I know exactly how you feel, heh. Both of our birthdays fall on really exciting holidays and our birthdays tend to be overshadowed by them..."
"Though, I'm sure that they wouldn't do that on purpose if they're your friends. Plus, a gentle reminder never hurts, and I'm pretty sure the birthday of a person as amazing as you are won't be forgotten that easily. Stay positive, okay?" After that last sentence, she reached out to gently ruffle their hair as a smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
"You're probably way cuter when you smile anyway, that frown doesn't fit a face as cute as yours."
"Hey… Is everything alright…?"
"…Y…Yeah, yeah, everything’s… fine. I think. I just… Kinda am afraid of tomorrow’s outcome."
Tomorrow's outcome...? Tomorrow was the thirty-first of October. What could be so special about that date...? Perhaps they had a date with someone? A performance? A test? Think, Haruko, think; what else could be the cause of a human's nervousness?
It took a while for the gears to click in her head. Halloween was on the thirty-first. Oh yeah, Haruko almost forgot about Halloween. Well, it's not like she exactly celebrated the holiday anyway - the most she'd done on Halloween was dress up as Frankenstein and scare the hell out of her father and got grounded. That was five years ago, mind you.
"...Halloween's tomorrow. I... can't really make a connection between being nervous and Halloween... If it'll make you feel better, we can talk about it? Only if you want to, though - if you think it's too personal, you don't have to tell me."
[ superhighschoollevel-biologist liked for a starter! ]
“Whoa! Hey there, Stranger-san! I’m lost as heck! Can you tell me where I am?”
"Ah, you're in front of the west wing's lab, if that helps. If you need to go anywhere, I could give you the directions, Stranger-chan."
Mimicking her speech habit. What an original way to reply, Haruko. I applaud you.
