Headcannon: Rosalie and Alice are normally really close, they're just in a petty sibling fight at the moment. But because they're vampires, the fight is lasting like 7 years.

Rosalie didn't like an outfit that Alice designed for her and Alice got offended and it spiraled.

Alice aggressively planning things for Bella, dressing Bella, and talking about how Bella is just like a sister to her, is her being passive aggressive towards Rosalie

LOVE IT. 

This makes a lot more sense than Alice being all like “FINALLY A SISTER!” about Bella when Rosalie is right there and has been for 50 years. 

And also, as we have said before, Rosalie is MUCH more inclined to enjoy Alice’s attention and hobbies than shy, mousy Bella is. Rosalie is proud of her beauty and I’m sure has a lot more fun letting Alice design things for her and dress her up to show it off than Bella would. 

It just seems logical to me that they would be close. Alice can’t read Rosalie’s mind to judge her the way Edward does, and Alice doesn’t have any human socialization like, at all, because she has no human memories, so I don’t buy that she’d have some internalized misogyny issues going on with Rosalie’s ‘vanity.’ There’s literally no reason they shouldn’t be friends. 

But of course when you’re immortal a minor sibling spat could last years, and the idea that Alice is fussing over Bella just to annoy Rosalie is delightful and hilarious and honestly makes more sense than the weird “Bella should have nice things but is too Good and Selfless to want or ask for nice things so Alice must exist to provide them for her” thing we have going on.
