I had this idea for a fic/drabble, and I know it's not on that prompt list, but I just /had/ to share it! I might write it myself but idk yet. Anyway, so basically a domestic Destiel AU where they're thinking about being parents (whether they adopt or find someone who says they'll have the baby for them is up to you), so they go to a local community LGBT(QIA) group for same-sex parents and Dean is just so nervous and as they walk in and see all the little kids and Cas just smiles reassuringly -
- at him and yeah and it could like progress to them with this tiny little baby and going to these same-sex parents group sessions and Dean especially is just so in awe of this tiny little creature that's and he's super scared about messing up or being like his dad and Cas has to reassure him he's an amazing father and he loves him so much. And yEP THAT'S IT BYE
This turned out way longer than I intended, but that often happens with me so it’s not really surprising. I hope this is what you had in mind. It took a turn I wasn’t expecting, as so much of my writing does... Freewriting is a gamble sometimes, but I think this might just satisfy your craving for some fluffy, domestic, future!daddy Destiel...

“Dean, we’ve been over this…” Cas said sternly withaffection and maybe a tinge of amusement in his voice as he takes Dean’s hand.
“I don’t think I can do this Cas. I know they said we shouldhave a support system before we adopt, but I just… I…”
Dean’s face is pale and his hands are clammy as Cas drawssmall circles against his palm to calm the hunter. He waits and allows Dean amoment to collect himself and organize his thoughts.
“Cas, what if I mess this up? What if I am a terrible fatherand our kid hates me? What if I ruin their life?”
Cas lets out a small chuckle. He grips Dean’s hand tighterto prevent the hunter from pulling away as a look of betrayal flashes acrosshis face.
“Dean, no. Come on. I wasn’t laughing at you… I was laughing at the idea that youwould be anything other than the best dad ever.”
Dean’s face softened and Cas took that as his cue tocontinue.
“You practically raised Sam, and look how he turned out. Youare the best uncle that Jonah and Katie could ever ask for. You were amazingwith Ben…” Dean tenses up a little at the mention of that life that seemed sofar removed from reality that he almost wonders if it actually happened. Cassqueezes his hand a little tighter and continues.
“You have always wanted a family Dean. It’s the one constantin your life – family. And now that things have calmed down with the angels inHeaven, the demons in Hell, monsters in Purgatory, and us here together safeapart from all that, you can actually have the family you’ve always wanted…
Cas’ freezes as a hundred thoughts rush through his mind. Heremembers how long it took to get here. How long Dean fought against thefeelings he had toward his angel. How for the first few months Cas was on pinsand needles as if Dean was a skiddish house cat that could be frightened awaywith one wrong move.
Cas wondered if this was it. If he’s finally pushed Dean toofar. If this was the end for them…
Then Dean squeezed Cas’ hand and said, “we can have a family together. It’s you and me Cas, this is goingto be our family.”
The smile on Cas’ face could have lit the entire West Coast.Dean returned the smile as he raised his hand to the angel’s cheek beforeleaning in and kissing him gently.
“Let’s do this.” Dean said as he heaved the door of theImpala open. Cas felt relief flood through his body and he let out a long sighbefore stepping out of the car.
There were more people here than Dean expected. Nine couplesin all with a total of fourteen rugrats running amok. It was honestly too manypeople for the small space, but Dean couldn’t help but enjoy the sound ofchildren giggling as they played together.
The group was welcoming and it wasn’t long before Dean andCastiel were engaged in conversation with another couple who were also goingthrough the long and tedious adoption process. They learned that the othercouple – Steph and Jade – had tried to conceive several times without successbefore deciding that adoption was the best option for them.
Dean secretly wished that he and Cas had the option toconceive and carry their own biological child. Yes, he understands thatbiologically it would only be either Dean’s orCas’, but it would still be nice to have the option.
They exchange contact information with Steph and Jade andplan to get coffee the following Thursday to continue their conversation andexchange stories about the adoption process so far.
******************************
Over the next few months Dean and Cas continue attending themeetings. They bond with the other couples. They become Uncle Dean and UncleCas to some of the kids in attendance. They share in the joy of successfulconceptions and in the heartache of missed opportunities. They attend two babyshowers and shop with Steph and Jade when they finally get the good news thattheir adoption is final. They are the first people to meet baby Isaiah the weekSteph and Jade became parents.
Dean smiled his best smile. He truly was happy for their newfriends, but he was also envious. They’d been waiting for months. They’d jumpedthrough every hoop imaginable. They’d baby-proofed a fucking bunker for God’ssake. They’d had three home visits, six office interviews, and met with severalcounselors and social workers. He was starting to lose hope that they wouldever have the family they dreamed of.
Then one day it happened…
Dean was in the garage trying to take his mind off things. He was laying on the floor under the Impala covered in grease and sweat whenhis phone vibrated on the table across the room. He was going to let it go tovoicemail, but just as the phone rang a final time before being redirected tothe mailbox Cas walked into the garage.
“Hello, Dean’s phone.” A pause as his voice echoed throughthe room and faded away. “Really? You… we… you’re serious?” Cas’ voice wasfrantic in a way Dean had rarely, if ever, heard before. He slid out from underthe car and rushed to Cas’ side.
He mouthed the words ‘Who is it?’ but Cas just waved hishand dismissively. Dean grunted. At least Cas’ face looked happy and thefrantic tone of his voice was excitement instead of fear or pain.
“Thank you! We will see you shortly.” Cas ends the call andstares at Dean’s phone with his mouth slightly agape for a moment beforeraising his gaze to Dean. They lock eyes and Cas smiles up at his hunter.
“Ready for what? What’s going on?”
“Are you ready to meet your daughter?”
Dean’s eyes go wide, Cas struggles against the smile thatthreatens to overtake his face. Dean opens and closes his mouth several timesunable to form a coherent thought before finally muttering, “Really? Our… we…for real Cas? We’re going to be…”
Dean feels the sting of tears welling in his eyes and hedoesn’t even try to fight them. Looking into Dean’s eyes and seeing the pureexcitement on his face and tears of joy gently roll down his cheeks, Cas giveinto the moment and allows himself to be overtaken by the emotions that arestill so unfamiliar.
“We’re going to be dads…” Cas whispers as he wraps his armsaround Dean. Dean hugs back fiercely trying his best to convey all the thingshe still can’t always articulate.
“When?” Dean chokes out around the tears that are nowstreaming down his face and soaking into the shoulder of Cas’ borrowed t-shirt.
“We are supposed to meet them at Smith County Memorial in 45minutes.”
The look of joy on Dean’s face is replaced by panic. “45minutes? Cas! That’s not enough time! We aren’t ready! Where will she sleep?”Cas places a calming hand on the hunter’s wrist.
“We are only meeting her today. She still needs to stay withher mother for a few days before she’s ready to come home. We have the wholeweekend to prepare.”
Dean takes a deep breath, kisses Cas quickly, andpractically drags the angel to the Impala. He slams the hood in an act that isnot at all consistent with the usual reverence he has for the car, and fires upthe engine before Cas has even shut his door.
“Are you ready for this?” Cas asks as he takes in the lookon Dean’s face and the slight tremor his hands as they grip the steering wheeluntil his knuckles are white.
Dean turns his head and meets Cas’ eyes. He smiles as hereleases his death grip on the wheel and takes Cas’ hand in his own raising itto his lips to gently kiss the back on the angel’s hand.
“I’ve never been more ready for anything in my entire life…”
They share another moment staring into each other’s eyes. The last quiet moment they may get for a while. The share one last smile beforeDean moves his gaze forward and puts the Impala into gear.
***********************************
The drive to the hospital is uneventful, but coaxing Deanout of the car takes a little encouragement.
“Dean… Come on… We’re doing this again?”
After several minutes of reassurance that Dean could, infact, do this, Cas and Dean finally entered the hospital. Missouri was waitingfor them just inside the entrance and escorted them to the Pediatric floor.
Moments later they are standing in front of a window lookinginto the eyes of a beautiful baby girl. Dean almost loses it when he sees thatthe name on the tiny human reads “Winchester”.
“She… she’s really ours?” Dean stammers more out ofastonishment that this is actually happening than for confirmation, butMissouri provides the affirmation anyway.
“That’s right Dean. She’s yours. She’ll need to stay herefor a few days, but then you can take her home to start her life with her newfamily.” She lays a reassuring hand on his shoulder and turns to leave, but shestops short adding, “Oh, I almost forgot. What are you going to name her? Ineed to know for the paperwork.”
Cas sees the panic rising in Dean’s face. They’d agreed notto choose a name until they knew they would be approved. They agreed it wouldhurt too much to choose a name for a child that never came. Cas intervenes justin time to prevent Dean from having a panic attack in the middle of the nurserywaiting room.
“We haven’t really decided yet. Can we let you know in acouple of days?”
“I will need an answer before you can sign the paperwork andtake her home, but you can take a day to decide.”
“Thank you.” Cas says with genuine gratitude in his voice.
The weekend is filled with baby preparations. Luckily Stephand Jade are more than happy to help shop for their new bundle of joy and Samand Jess catch the first flight to Kansas as soon as Dean tells them the news.
The bunker is filled with laughter, friends, family, andjoy. They assemble furniture, prepare the nursery (which they had the goodforethought to paint as soon as they started the adoption process), check thebaby proofing, and bask in the glow of being surrounded by so much love.
“So, what are you going to name her?” Sam asks over dinner.
“We haven’t really decided yet…” Dean mutters.
“Actually,” Cas turns toward Dean. They hadn’t really madeit through this conversation – despite several attempts and their timeframe fordeciding was coming to a close. This was it, Cas was going to make a play andhe hoped it worked out in his favor, “I was thinking we could name her Mary.”
Dean’s eyes prickle as they fill with tears. “Really?” hewhispers, afraid anything else would give away his impending breakdown.
“Of course I want to Cas! I love it.” Dean throws his armsaround his angel and peppers his face with light kisses. The kisses become moreand more intimate and it isn’t until Sam clears his throat that Dean rememberswhere he is.
“Uh, right, sorry Sammy.”
Sam just rolls his eyes. “Yeah, whatever.”
Tuesday comes so soon and Dean and Cas sit at a longconference table surrounded by paperwork. Missouri, along with a stateappointed attorney, explain the adoption papers and where they need to sign. Ittakes four hours to make it through everything, but it’s worth it the momentthe Dean holds his daughter for the first time.
“Hello Mary. I’m your daddy, and that,” he lifts her up soshe can see Cas standing at Dean’s side, “that’s your papa.”
The love and adoration that fills Cas is unlike anything heever imagined possible. He thought that storming Hell and carrying Dean fromthe pit - essentially laying claim to the human’s brilliant soul – was thedefining moment of his life, but now he’s not so sure.
This is his family… Dean and Mary. Sam looking on from thenursery window waving awkwardly with a goofy smile plastered on his face.
He laughed because who would have thought that an angelwould fall in love with a human, a hunternonetheless, and choose Earth and humanity over all of Heaven? Who would havethought that a hunter who lived such a painful life could exude such joy? Whowould have thought that it would take two humans, correction three humans, to teach an ancient beingthe true meaning of love and family?
“What’s so funny Cas?” Dean asks as he rocks Mary gentlyfrom side to side as she cuddles close to her daddy’s chest.
Cas smiles the smile that is reserved for Dean. The one thatsays you’re a real idiot sometimes, butyou’re my idiot and I love you more than anything in all of history. “Ijust find it funny that you ever thought you could be a bad father…”
Cas motions to Mary, tiny mouth open a line of drool hangingfrom her lips, sound asleep against Dean’s chest.
Dean beams. This is everything he’s ever wanted, andeverything he never thought he could have. His brother, his angel, and hisdaughter all together. This may be the best moment of Dean’s life… and that’swhen it hits him like a ton of bricks.
“Marry me!” Dean barks causing Mary to stir against hischest.
For the first time since this all began it is Cas’ turn tolook panicked. “What?”
“Marry me! You know, rings, vows, make it official and junk…”When Cas just stares at Dean without responding, he continues, “I was justthinking that this is probably the best moment of my entire life, and I didn’twant anything to ever compete with it, so… Marry me.”
“Now?” It’s not much, but Cas is still pretty pleased thathe managed that much.
So, on a sunny Tuesday in fall, Dean and Cas started theirlife as a married couple and they welcomed their first child into the family. They spent the day surrounded by family and friends and all the love two peoplecould ask for, and they spent their first night as a married couple lying inbed with their daughter appreciating just how perfect an apple pie life couldtruly be.
