I don’t know how many people saw the new official art but if you did, I’m going to attempt to analyse them
I found a link to the images I’m analysing here: https://self-taught-mess.tumblr.com/post/647469595350958080/new-lore-just-dropped-yall-how-we-feeling
One thing I saw is that all of the image’s subjects have some kind of wear and tear in them, for example: The pages on Logan’s book are worn and ripped but the cypher is in perfect condition and is glowing.
The candles in Patton’s picture are almost fully melted and the water is dirty but the heart remains in near perfect condition.
The iron on Remus’ chest is scratched and falling off, the wood is splintering and the chains / lock is rusting but they key remains shiny and un-touched.
Roman’s crown is covered in scratches, mould and crakes and generally looks really old and worn but they “pretty” stuff about it such as the gems and the cushion remains in perfect condition.
Virgil’s doll is all round patchy, it has 2 of the patches that are seen on Virgil’s actual jacket and another one on its head, it also has a lot of tears and stiches in it, the glass is smashed and the “do not open” plaque is rusted, mossy and pretty old, the actual lock and the wooden part of the case remains in perfect condition though, also Virgil’s doll has blood splatters on its front.
The lock on Janus’ picture, looks clean and shiny but also has some wear on it
Logan
I said how the pages on Logan’s book are worn and ripped but the cypher is in perfect condition and is also glowing but I also think that the glow gives it an almost ethereal vibe and also looks pretty powerful and quite scary; something that mimics the principal of knowledge itself, how its a really powerful thing and can also be really scary (for instance: “what really is at the bottom of the ocean”) I’m still working on cracking the cypher on his book (with some friends I’m not that smart) so hopefully I’ll post something about that later
Patton
I already mentioned how the candles in Patton’s picture are almost fully melted and the water is dirty but I think that the candles could represent the 3 core sides (Logan, Roman and Patton), also in the sense that the candles are far from new, they’re old and melting. The candles also give off some kinda creepy religious vibes. The jar that the hearts in also resembles an Urn.
Roman
I said earlier how Roman’s crown is worn but the pretty stuff is all new and shiny, almost like the structure / base holding it together has been neglected but the bits that look nice have been taken care of, this is reflective of cannon!Roman’s attuitude towards things, for instance in “Why do we get out of ben in the morning?” or “Logic vs Passion” Roman stated that you could be working instead of sleeping, showing that hes more concerned about the finished product / what you produce compared to taking care of yourself and actually functioning, it also suggests that he values looks over structure.
Remus
I mentioned how, like the other object, Remus’ chest is pretty worn down, another thing I noticed is that the hand is reaching for the key on the side, like its trying to escape. I also thought that maybe the chains that are holding the chest closed could resemble how Patton tries to supress his ideas and that fact that some tentacles are showing could mimic how Remus managed to break through and actually manged to visit Thomas.
Virgil
Something I noticed that I thought was cool is that Virgil’s doll is also female, this is probably more to mimic traditional kids dolls but I still thought it was pretty neat, I also think its worth noting that Virgil’s objects is both the most well protected and the most damaged, something that resembles anxiety quite well, the fact that it makes you guard yourself more and lock yourself away, also how some people have anxiety due to something that happened to them that caused them to break and have to (figuratively) “patch themselves up”
Janus
I noted earlier on how the lock on Janus’ picture, looks clean and shiny overall but also has some wear on it with a few dents and scratches here and there, the lock is also a heart shape which could resemble Patton and how Janus basically opposes him.
This could all be entire stylistic choices by the artist and could have absolutely nothing to do with any kind of cannon lore but I was really bored and thought this might be fun. I’m also going to @beauty-and-passion because I love their theories and if they have anything to add that would be amazing
