Lighthouse.

See how I’m melting

Against your soul

See how my eyes well

With tears I can’t control

And it happens so suddenly

Catches me unaware

What do I do

But sing to you relentlessly?

Takes every ounce of me

This breath

and every breath that follows

As I stand outside your door

Singing to you

At the top of my lungs

And from the bottom of my heart

Beloved, hear me.

Why does your heart

Remain so firmly shut

Ice cold and unyielding

You remain so out of reach

And the miles I’ve covered

Running to you

And the blisters on my feet

The scars reopened in my heart

Seem wasted, irrelevant.

Tell me what do I do

Beloved do I stay away?

I’m lost please shine a light

So I know where I should stand

Will you keep me outside your door

Shivering as I stand, until my lips turn blue

And my toes go numb, just like my heart

Or would you invite me in

For a warm cup of tea

Would you wrap me up

In your embrace, a blanket

I would always hold close

Could we sit by the blazing fire

As the embers in your heart

Glow into the night

The Plunge.

Listen do you hear that frantic beat

A nervous bird fluttering about

In an iron cage forged in the heat

With the very threads of fear and doubt.

This is the edge, I’m trembling do you see

And with brute force, the winds do blow

As I stand on the edge of this cliff quite steep

“Jump”, the winds seem to whisper so.

Shut out the world, looked inwards

What do you say heart, I whispered to myself

Are you ready now, love you can run towards

Do tell are you brave enough, daring enough?

Mind said, “I’ve got your six dear one

Should you lose your wings, fall and break

Don’t be scared, I’ll fix you right back up

So run to him, follow your heart brave one”

Closing my eyes, clenching my fists

Drawing the deepest breath I could inhale

Mustered the courage, I could not resist

No longer shall I hide, no longer am I frail.

And on I plunged, a hundred feet below

To the arms of the deep, the fearsome o’lo”

Not knowing what destiny has in store

Not afraid or asking for more.

Oh look I’m still breathing, doing just fine

Wounds, heartbreak are old pals of mine

The sky is the limit, I can reach that high

For the warrior within me will not die.

Who knows what lurks or lies ahead

Our hearts just know what feels right for now

So I’ll wear this love like a crown on my head

Down the memory lane - a look back at 2018. This was, hands down, one of the weirdest years ever. Thankful for all the new experiences and everything I’ve learned this year :) one of the most important lessons I’ve learnt would probably be that, we can’t deny ourselves of the “right here and right now” because we’re scared of the future.
