Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve started running a GRIM campaign for three of my friends who have never played TTRPGs before, and we all LOVE it. The combat is so dynamic and satisfying, for them as well as me; I have so much fun designing encounters to allow me to use the monsters strategically. We just finished session three, where they fought a group of gargoyles lead by a gilded cleric in the main hall of the Cathedral, with a massive stained glass work depicting a strange deity they don’t recognise… (Lygoth).
GRIM is a blast. I can’t recommend it enough, for TTRPG veterans or totally new players.
Thank you so, so, so much 💛💛💛 It's messages like me that make my drive for game dev alive!
I'm telling y'all GRIM is definitely my favorite thing so far I've designed. Its ability to be easily homebrewed and tinkered is underrated imo, and I'm so excited to see how the game grows.
Speaking of which....to you, @imfeelinglike and other fans of GRIM....The Palace of Eyes expansion is gonna blow you away. Dozens of new enemies, new items, environmental objects, deep and emotional lore, and face melting weapons that blend the mystical and mechanical of the world of GRIM.
If y'all wanna join in on the fun, snag your copy of GRIM below! 💛

Cleave your way to Eldritch Truth.
BLURB
In a time far beyond Earth’s exodus, explorers have unearthed relics and ancient architecture that are said to be older than the cosmos itself, shattering all theories of the creation of the universe and its age. You and your allies, assigned by the Martyrs of Free Olympia or the Elysian Coalition, are tasked to investigate ruins on the planet Gamma Rho Iota Mu, simply referred to as GRIM, to find any traces of life that are rumored to lay beneath the only structure on the planet: a towering obelisk.
Countless explorers sent to GRIM have delved into these ruins, but none have returned. Many denizens of Free Olympia and beyond have feared that their planet will be next to succumb to GRIM's grasp, and some have fallen to their knees to worship this fated harbinger of doom. All seemed hopeless and lost...
Until YOU arrived.
Inspired by prolific FPS games like the Quake series, GRIM's mechanics are quick, brutal, and easy to understand without sacrificing its immense depth.
Using either the flip of a coin or a six-sided die (d6), use Combat Skills to speed around combat maps and frag enemies, or use Roleplaying Skills either in or out of combat to navigate the dark and oppressive world beyond the Whispering Gate.
This game is meant to be played with a Watcher (GM / DM), and 1-6 other players.
Thank you for this opportunity! 💛
Mod Note: That is in fact the game's creator writing the blurb! I was actually about to add it to the queue myself but they beat me to it, it's a great time and a high recommendation

,,Think of your wives,, in ,,The Horse and the Infant,, hits for me a lot header when you remember that, (according to the Odyssey) just hours befor Helene went around the wooden horse imitating the of there wives voices. Just hours ago Odysseus heard Penelope's voice agine for the first time in 10 years, and it wasn't even the real one.
and the fact that Odysseus was the one who had to hold his men back from giving away their position
but when he heard Penelope's voice and no one recognized it but him, who was there to hold him back? who was there to stop him from throwing himself at Helen's feet and weeping at the realization that his wife wasn't even there
shaking crying screaming projectile vomiting rattling the bars of my enclosure save me
"Helen."
He says it like it's a death sentence. Helen aches, and it's not from being dragged from the palace on featherlight feet, or the fact that Menelaus can barely look at her. Her eyes still sting from the ashes of Troy, and she feels filthy, but...
No, it is in the way Odysseus is looking at her. He's staring, the whites of his eyes red and expression too hard for the mischievous boy she knew, the besotted young man he became when met with her cousin. This is someone else.
Odysseus looks as if he needs to imprint Helen in his mind. As if he's expecting someone else. Surely it is him that's changed, not her? But that's yet another lie Helen has been telling herself for ten years, and the path in her mind it takes her is familiar. Comfortable. She hasn't changed.
Still, the memories of what had been wrenches the overworked, tired part of her that feels guilt into action just one more time.
"Hello, Odysseus," she says carefully. He watches her lips like a hawk, a vulture. Helen is tired of war, no matter the strategy involved.
"You are cruel." Oh, what fresh agony. She opens her mouth to interrupt, because she's had enough of men berating her—
"But perhaps you can prove yourself as merciful, too." Helen pauses. Fisting her soot stained chiton, she tells herself to be patient just a little longer.
Finally Odysseus takes off his helmet. His hair is matted, blood that she didn't notice streaked down his jaw—like he wiped some spatter away and only smeared it further. It unsettles her. Menelaus was careful to keep her covered, coming out of Troy.
Odysseus's throat works before he rasps out, "Speak, as you did outside the Horse."
It doesn't register, what he's asking her, face set so severely. It's... he's not the Odysseus she remembers, mobile mouth always smiling or smirking or laughing.
"...What?" Helen asks.
And that's when her cousin's husband breaks a little, a chip in his solid built walls. "Please," he says, fingertips whitening where they clutch the rim of his helm. It immediately discomfits her.
"Odysseus, what do you mean—"
"Penelope." It's said so quietly she can barely hear him. Odysseus is still looking at her, eyes setting her alight with how they reflect the torches from afar: liquid silver and blackened tar.
Helen is frozen.
"Helen. Please - Penelope. Just once more—once more, could you—can I—"
"Yes," she says before she can think. "Yes."
She doesn't know if it's better or worse when he closes his eyes, finally. Odysseus has removed his gaze but the pyre still burns.
She clears her throat, and says in her cousin's more throaty timbre, "Hello, Odysseus."
She sees a man truly break, then.
"Penelope." It's a prayer, whispered out in terror and hope and grief. He reaches one hand out.
She takes it—it doesn't matter, in this moment, that it's smeared with soot and blood, grainy on her soft palms.
"You come back to me," Helen says, because it's what her cousin would have wanted to say. This is one thing she isn't afraid of saying wrong. It is easy to put on another façade.
It is hard to break one down. Helen does not think of Menelaus. It is Odysseus in front of her who says, "I will. I will come back to you, Penelope."
Helen dreads his eyes opening—but he smiles at her. It is smaller than she remembers, but it is a smile nonetheless.
"Good," Helen says in her own voice. Perhaps she might have done some, just this once.
Tumblr's reply to the situation with CEO's transphobia is pathetic and you should not be thanking them for doing the bare minimum of saying he's not speaking for them. They fucking thanked that bitch.
The affected trans women are still banned.
A transphobic manchild offered no proper apology. Or stopped. He is also still in his position.
Tumblr is still factually transphobic. Keep pushing.
Yet another deleted blog, fantastic
They know what they’re doing. They know exactly what they’re doing when they see their users speaking out and nuke them. There is no error or compromise here, this is active malice on staff’s part and they will continue to treat black and trans bloggers like dirt if you just let them.
To anyone who still had any doubt: here you go. Nothing has changed and tumblr staff is still censoring any criticisms, still hasn’t reversed any of the ridiculous bans, still hasn’t added any kind of new tools for dealing with harassment.
Staff lied about almost every promise on their “apology” post. Nothing has changed and at this point I don’t think anything will change unless we keep making a fuss about it.
Don’t ever stop talking about this. Blow it up every fucking time it happens.
