SO ABOUT THAT KUINA AND CHISHIYA SCENE IN THE CAMERA ROOM
this post doesn't really have a point and i might even be reaching here but!!
SO! that scene is my favorite chishiya & kuina scene because it supports my chishiya & kuina bffs agenda
chishiya: the witch could be you, kuina
kuina: the same goes for you
and then they have a long staring contest which hella amused chishiya.
BUT WHAT MAKES THIS EVEN BETTER IS THE SCENE THAT CAME BEFORE — kuina feeling guilty about how they used arisu and chishiya being Totally Unbothered about it.
see, chishiya was feeling all good about stealing all the cards AND THEN kuina mentioned how she felt bad about what happened to arisu and chishiya was lowkey pissed and was like "is there anything we wouldn't do for survival? if you really feel guilty, then go help him"
it was like chishiya was testing kuina's resolve. chishiya is the type of guy who pushes and prods at ppl until they're over the edge, just to see what they would do. and he did it with kuina. chishiya wanted to see if kuina's "guilt" is stronger than her resolve to survive. he wanted to see if kuina would draw the line between "surviving the games" and "sacrificing people to survive the games"
at the same time, he wanted to see if kuina would make the "rational" choice (we all know he's all about rationality and logical choices 🙄). so when kuina let it go, chishiya looked so smug and was like "see? i'm correct, aren't i?"
and we all know how he stopped kuina from passing through bla bla bla we all thought they're all gucci, buddy-buddy again
We got the camera room scene.
(i went on a tangent but finally here's the main reason i started this long post)
chishiya teased kuina about being a witch. kuina, despite not being amused, shot back a reply.
one might think this scene is insignificant But.
chishiya and kuina have spent the whole day (night?) doing the heist, and communicating with each other, planning to leave the Beach that night, until they got caught in the 10 of hearts game. it's not so unfathomable that they both know its nearly //impossible// for the other to be the witch.
but. they were teasing each other. chishiya, especially.
NOW THIS IS THE PART WHERE I MIGHT BE REACHING!!
i think, this scene is important bc it shows us that chishiya values kuina's regard . this scene was him feeling out if kuina hates him for being a heartless bastard (i.e: using arisu as bait, testing kuina) .
that staring contest that lasted a few seconds after kuina replied "the same goes for you" held the subtext "i'm pissed as hell at you but we're still cool" .
and chishiya looking so damned pleased after?? yeah. they're bffs, you can't tell me otherwise.
