Decorate your 'TV stands'!!
I know its a weird topic. Just wrote first of my decoration articles and my first ones are always weird! ;):) But for now lets just start...
What is the central item of your living room? What is the main reason that we always find people of our house sitting on sofas, munching or gossiping or laughing together? The answer to both these questions is Television. Yes, indeed! Let it be holidays or any normal day we all just love to watch TV. So have you ever wondered that, how the place around your TV, which is the area most looked upon, really looks like? If you really have or are wondering now, then there is one thing you would surely want to do, decorating your TV stand! The TV area is the entertainment centre of your house and therefore quite an important one. Decorating the TV area is a must. And the first step is to decorate the very stand on which the TV is placed. Not only you will be feeling good while looking at TV area but the guests visiting too, often use this place and they will really admire if you decorate it beautifully. A question that must be coming to your mind now is, 'How to decorate TV Stands?'. Don't worry, for their are thousands of ideas for decorating your TV stands!
Decorating a TV stand depends on what kind of stand you have and how is the area it is placed at. Lets start by assuming that it is the classic wooden stand with TV mounted on top of it and some space on both the sides and shelves below the top. This kind of stands can be decorated by using concept of symmetry. You can place twin showpieces either antique or modern, on both the sides of TV like a golden Swan Couple or white twin cat set or even a twin horse set. This idea always work and you will find variety of twin sets in the market.
If you are not willing to place showpieces on top, then you can also place flower vases on both the sides. But remember that don't overdo the flowers, because you may find them distracting the viewer or obstructing their view. Now comes the bottom/top shelf areas. This areas can be decorated in such a way that you even find utilising them for keeping your things, like placing books in a proper and fancy fashion gives an elegant look to the stand. Also keeping small photo frames of your family and friends is a very good idea. And then you always have showpieces and souvenirs from your trips to display here. This will create a perfect ambience when you all are watching TV together or having some fun moments. After all, good memories always bind people together!
Today, you will find that most of the Televisions are flat and wall mountable and people generally prefer to mount it on wall, but a TV unit is still a must. In fact, you get more scope with such kinds of TV unit since the space is no more occupied by the Television. There are many kinds of TV unit, some have shelves both on top and bottom or some have only one. There can be shelves sideways too but generally if the shelves are on side, they are preferred to be only on one side so that the view doesn't get obstructed. With such a wide scope of decoration you can use variety of ideas and it is really appreciated if you do something unique. I have seen people placing their antique styled old suitcases as a way of decorating the shelves, and believe me it looked amazing.
You can also have some different and unusual kind of candle stands or fancy small lamps too. Then there is a very unusual and current trend of filling the shelves with wooden baskets which not only look beautiful but you can store inside them whatever you want!
And how can one forget clock? Yes, they were always used for decoration purposes and they will always be. You get these very cute kind of small table clocks with astonishing designs nowadays, what you need to do is to simply find such a shop. Also an antique clock mounted above the TV is a very good idea. There is one more current trend of placing photo frames with beautiful 'Feel good' Quotes on it, this is a brilliant way of decoration, not only looks good but also gives a glimpse of your personality to others.
There are numerous ways you can decorate your TV stand which can't be listed all, but again quoting few of them, like glass vase with a long stick minimal plant, your worship idols, some good luck charms, a small fountain model, some empty antique wine bottles, flat glass bowl with fresh flower petals or coloured stones, a long chandelier stand, small sculptures, beautiful dolls, gifts given to you by your own people and many more. You can use any of these according to the space available, the type of stand and your budget.
If you have a very tight budget try some DIY stuff like making some crafty things out of fabrics and papers, making small models of showpieces, or a placing creative dangling or hanging on both the sides of TV.
