The ever lovely host of Vee’s gameshow has two broken fingers and needs help, *you’re* gonna help her

Vee had to have two of her fingers temporarily removed for repairs after a close encounter where a kid somehow got close to her and pretty much snapped them off, Veronica stressed about the metal fingers needing to be repaired before anyone could cause anymore damage to it, detached them temporarily leaving the poor gameshow host unable and unwilling to attempt to fix her tie.

You, her lovely partner and assistant decided tying a tie is an easy enough task. It is not easy; it has been five minutes, the tie is still hanging loosely around Vee’s neck and you’re contemplating grabbing Sprout or going on a search for Veronica to get help with tying it.

You’ve never worn a tie, sure, but you see Vee wear one all time and you’ve watched her tie it everyday since you’ve been her partner.

“Vee, how do you normally do this stupid tie?”

“Well, normally I’m not missing two fingers, that helps.”

“I’m not missing two fingers, help me!” You hiss in frustration, about ready to leave and find Veronica.

“You like loop it, like this,” she says, gesturing with her remaining fingers.

“Like a shoelace..?”

“Yes, exactly!” She says, snapping her fingers like you just answered correctly on her gameshow.

“That makes it easier..gimme a sec,” you mumble, fumbling to make a knot. “Is that right?”

Vee hums in reply. “Not quite, but, it’s close—you’ve got the spirit.”

“I’m going to go find Sprout or someone..” you mutter, walking to the door.

“Berry boy knows how to tie a tie..?”

Baking with sprout

an: did this idea with the hunger games (I think it was one of the first fics I wrote actually) and Elliot (from forsaken) and whenever I think about it (despite not really reading those works in a while) I think it’s a cute idea so here you all go!!

I doubt this is the only fic about baking with sprout and it likely won’t be the last but enjoy

In this fic it’s near Christmas forgot to mention that

Sprout had invited you to bake with him—something he never really did; you weren’t exactly a baking prodigy, more of a taste tester if anything, always sitting and watching him and Cosmo bake. But, since Cosmo was surprisingly busy Sprout asked for your assistance, an unexpected but definitely welcomed surprise.

“Did you preheat the oven?” Sprout looks at you, oven mitts on, prepared to put the cookies you two had made into the oven.

You stop dusting off the counter and meet his gaze, “no..did you?”

He looks up and thinks for a moment before answering, “I think so..” he trails off, turning his attention to the oven, “yep! I didn’t forget this time.” He throws you a grin, one that makes you instantly want to return the favor, as he slides the tray into the oven, shutting it while you set the timer.

“Good thing one of us remembered!” You hum.

“Yeah, otherwise we would have to wait…fifteen minutes for it to heat up.”

“Fifteen minutes, damn.” You repeat his words back at him. “Hey, why is Cosmo busy?” You ask, trying to make conversation while the two of you wait for the cookies to bake.

“I’m not sure, maybe he’s planning something for when Ginger comes back, it’s quite soon.”

Oh Ginger, of course! You’d almost forgotten her and the other Christmas toons will be back in only a few sleeps. “Oh, I’m so excited to see her! I think I’ll make her something to give her when she comes.”

“I could help you bake something for her if you’d like.?”

You pause in your tracks, your mouth suddenly feeling like you hadn’t drunken a drop of water in days, Sprout wanting to help you is so sweet but it’s the holidays soon! He’ll be extraordinary busy helping everyone (especially the holiday toons) with their duties and knowing him he’ll still want to help and make time for you.

“You don’t have to do that-! I’m sure you’ll be busy, especially around the holidays with all the gingerbread cookies to make and—”

“Y/n.” He says, resting his arm on the countertop, “it’s okay. I want to do it, I’ll make time, promise.”

“Okay, well, only do it if you have the time; I don’t want to bother you.”

He rests his head on his palm, leaning himself against the counter as he glances at you somewhat quizzically, “you could never be a bother to me.”

“I know, I didn’t—” arguing with the strawberry is pointless, he’s too stubborn to get through, “just take care of yourself first, okay?”

He smiles at you, “okay, only if you do as well.”

You grumble, his stupid trick worked. “I do, you better.”

How to not run out of ideas as a writer

allow yourself to be bored: keeping your mind occupied at all times with music, podcasts, books, shows, tv, social media feeds, or whatever won’t allow it to process the input and develop new ideas. next time you’re on the bus and bored, just let your mind wander

consume media: read articles, books, wikipedia pages, folklore… draw inspiration from anything and everything

curate playlists and pinterest boards

every time you have an idea about a plot, a story idea or even just one line of dialogue, put it in a long list that you can come back to any time

create a rich world with a lot of fleshed out characters and details. it is easier to create a story when you actually know what you are working with rather than having to come up with everything alongside your plot

not my tweet or my fic (and there’s a good chance of this comment being a bot) but yeah, don’t do this. sure, some writers wouldn’t mind having fanfics (or direct continuation) of their fanfics written by someone else. some may even be thrilled and happy. but the fandom etiquette is that if you want to write a fanfic or a continuation of someone’s fanfic, YOU POLITELY ASK THE WRITER FOR THEIR PERMISSION. not their readers.

also 5 months isn’t long at all. 5 months is 5 minutes when it comes to fanfics. I’ve waited years for my favorite fics to get updated (one of my favorite fanfics was updated by the author after 13 years) and I’ve never said anything to them about “it’s been ___ years, I don’t think it will get updated anymore”. because another fandom / fanfic etiquette is that fanfic writers write for free in their free time, they don’t owe you anything. maybe they will update one day. maybe they won’t. if you want your favorite fic to get updated, you comment something like “this is good!! I’m excited for what happens next” and maybe your positive comment will motivate the author to update. but you don’t say “it’s been ___ months or years”. fanfics writers write for themselves and their own enjoyment. they’re just kind enough to let you read their works for free. stop being rude and entitled to fanfic writers.

I have...at least three fanfics, four if we include the Avery one, the part two of the Derek Hutchins x GN!Reader fic..

Holy moley I wanna finish this real bad but my writing is just so ahh I can't even read and like my own writing. Like, it just feels so off for me its actually crazy. (Don't mind the mourning for D3rlord 😭😭)

But trust maybe in another day I can actually finish this...I hope...the writing is just so bad..I actually feel like it's missing something, idk if it's the descriptive imagery or something else..😔💔
