THIS IS I [2026 MOVIE]
Those 80s classics can't leave my head.
THIS IS I (2026)
watched this is i on netflix which is i believe a sort of biopic about ai haruna (japanese trans tv personality)! i liked it its very heartwarming but also quite cheesy very cheesy. but omg they had moneyyyyy for this production the retro set stuff looked so good. visually, i really like it. my main complaint is that i feel it could’ve been tightened up more because it is really really long and i felt some emotional beats were not needed or that there were too many to make others stand out. like i liked them, but it made the movie very lengthy and i feel like it wasnt really balanced out with depth of characters. the actors were all quite good though!
finished reading a deadly education by naomi novik! very intriguing and fun
why is my part time scheduling me for 40 hours two weeks in a row bruh i get the theaters busy but i have school 🙃
the lines are never ending, save me from my job, spiderman is killing me 😭 at least the tips are nice
the protagonist of yesteryear does remind me of the protagonist of unleavened bread(honestly i still think the title of this book is rather random or a reference to how selma rises through the ranks in marriage but how its not really her but her husband who does though?? i know they never actually really mention unleavened bread or really have anything where it could be relevant in the book)
anyways id have to reread it, but the sorta calculating ambitious vibe of an unlikeable sort of naturally dour female protagonist is pretty similar to me
reading through all their mishaps and mistakes, entertaining
they are extremely extremely diff stories though! but both a response to a sort of archetype of a certain woman of the day
unleavened bread with the ‘new woman’
and yesteryear with ‘tradwives’
which is neat!
spoilers for yesteryear, just rambling bout stuff
caleb sucked from day 1 , 😑 idc if he thought he would be a good kindergarten teacher and natalie briefly agreed. before he even got sucked into all that manosphere brainrot content— he did the bare minimum with helping with their newborn baby, did fuckall for finding a job, didnt even try to do business school, wanted to laze around all day. like sure, maybe he couldve been a decent kindergarten teacher—- but to me it seems he wouldve dropped out the moment anything got too difficult.
also he literally left his daughters out of his stupid freakinf weird escape secrete manosphere mancave area and didnt tell his wife and actually just left her to suffer weird fucking psychosis/early dementia in their self-imposed homesteading jail in the woods literally what the fuck
i dont even like natalie, but omg she needed copious amounts of therapy and her mom omg her mom taught her all this shit and then tells her she never really knew what it meant to be kind that really ground my gears or whatever because mfer natalies mom pushed against therapy when natalie suggested it after giving birth to her first daughter who she didnt seem to want and wasnt attached to. suggested taking a jog, postpartum— against the nurse’s advice! and probably taught her every freaking backhanded bigoted racist thing thats been implied in this novel— and her mother ends up thinking that its her fault just for the reason that she was lying that their father wasnt the adulterer, she was??!? and she regrets them not having a father figure or else they wouldve turned out better. omg i wouldve had to commit murder
her kids really got the short end of the stick in this book, but also the way shannon was also in a way putting on a persona for the interview at the end was interesting. breaking cycles , perpetuating them….
also i def think she was suffering some sort of psychosis or early dementia maybe from being drugged maybe from trauma, but omfg what a prison of her own making but i am still way pissed at all the fucking shitty ass men in this book literally what the fuck , like jfc ur husband is useless and a manchild and a conspiracy theorist, ur father in law makes anything you do thats successful ur husband’s intellectual and also monetary property, ur sisters husband who u dont even like is abusive— and ur account that ur college roommate wasnt assaulted cant even be considered accurate because u, natalie, r a deeply repressed person and unreliable narrator, and also your sucky husband enables your sons to be more sucky and useless and unhelpful people and drugs you and eventually like physically and sexually abuses you and also literally leaves all parenting to your eldest daughter who isnt even ur eldest daughter cuz yall thought to tell her all her other siblings were dead like wtf
honestly i even think she was suffering early dementia way before sorta, i mean in part i know its disjointed bc thats the way it is slowly unraveled throughout the story— but ngl early dementia or some sort result of untreated postpartum stuff as well makes sense to me because like ik it sort of makes her seem heartless but :( i kinda just thought it was very sad. she was so unlikeable but i felt so bad for her, but also she sucked and like she dug her own grave, but also literally everyone except her daughters and shannon was literally like the worst
im reading yesteryear rn cuz its on my library’s app, and omg this lady is bitter 😭 also how many weird novels am i gonna read thats gonna somehow tie milking a cow to something sexual bc its happened 2 times so far and i am Not a fan
i mean this one is more tongue in cheek so its whatevs, but the previous one was an audiobook i found for free a couple years back bc i was learning to knit briefly for a couple days and i enjoy reading some trashy romance books now and then but that (not yesteryear) lady had a whole weird wet dream sequence which was Not what i expected
but omg natalie she is interesting
finished! an interesting book….. natalie deeply needed therapy at all points of her life 😭

this girl…. she needs therapy so bad 😭
endearing but unhinged also i still wanna know why her mom’s corpse is in the freezer like murder? illness? accident? curious
i am rooting for this lady to kill this guy
also this is such a tonal shift from the previous work of theirs i read lol
this guy woori insults this dude subin unintentionally to his face , manipulates his way of getting income while literally not calling 911 for the bleeding out ebike guy, and also like does 4d chess to get him to accept money 😭 idk what hes thinking. i think he doesnt think. literally if he finds all this out he is more likely to kill u again bro what r u doing. how does this prevent u from getting killed again. i am highly entertained though
im reading this manhwa rn on webtoon and omg this dude has no freaking filter 😭 at all
