vancouver native sam bishop has has been hammering away on various union projects and side work alike since he graduated from school at age eighteen. never particularly book smart, sam fell in love with the idea of building something from the ground up.
no amount of poor grades on tests could refute the fact that he was talented or that he had the ability to be successful. and perhaps no one ever judged him for that directly, but when he compared himself to his very intelligent sisters, sam couldn’t help but strive to be better.
his family grew as he settled into his position within the local carpenter’s union, and then grew again when a hook-up led to an unplanned pregnancy. his daughter, stevie, and his eventual son, skyler, are the literal lights of his life, and while he now shares custody with their mother, no one would ever say he doesn’t try to be the best dad possible.
as a person, he’s kind of all over the place. he’s stubborn, but passionate. he’s traditional, but laid back. he likes to joke, but knows when to put his nose to the grindstone. he’s everyone’s friend all at once, and often doesn’t realize if someone doesn’t happen to hold his friendship in the same regard.
an ex who mothered both of his children (now 12 and 9, respectively). they could have been great... but sam’s never been great at longterm romance. tl;dr: he probs cheated, or she did. or they both did. either way, they weren’t the perfect match-made-in-heaven type of couple. but now they’re in each other’s lives to some extent for the foreseeable future.
