have you done a baji character analysis… if you have i’d love to read it?

So we all know that Baji is rather impulsive. In his character sheet is stated that he resorts to violence before using his words and it’s also canon that he sets cars on fire when he is hungry. We also know that he had to repeat one year of school and dressed up to look smarter. These are the first things you would think of when looking at Baji’s personality. But to think that this is everything that there is to him, that he is a stupid guy who likes to punch people, is nothing more than superficial and ignorant. Because there is so much more to him than this stereotypical dumb bully some people make him look like.

Baji loves his friends

Baji loves his friends, his family more than everything. He is willing to make himself look like the villain by joining Valhalla, in order to protect the people most precious to him. He even killed himself so Mikey wouldn’t blame Kazutora for his death. Baji knew that Manjiro would blame Kazutora even if he survived the stab wound. He knew that Mikey wouldn’t forgive him. So even though he had a chance of living by going to the hospital, he decided to kill himself. Because bringing his family back together was more important than his own life. god i love him so much :((

Baji is observant and perceptive

Baji had to repeat one school year, that’s true, but that doesn’t make him dumb. Because he was the only one who knew that Kisaki was the enemy from the beginning. Takemitchy doesn’t count because he comes from the future. He heard him say one sentence and already saw behind his facade. No one else saw Kisaki’s true intentions, not even Draken who is Mikey’s left hand and best friend. So that only shows his sharp intellect. And another thing that shows that Baji is not stupid are his acting skills. He really made two whole gangs, even some of his closest friends believe that he joined Valhalla and turned into an enemy. That’s nothing someone dumb could do.

Baji has an unbelievable amount of willpower and self control

In order to make everyone believe that he turned against Toman and with that also his family, he had to do some pretty nasty things to his friends. One of them being beating up Chifuyu, one of his best friends, multiple times. I don’t know bout y’all but I could never go this far, even if it would be to protect my friends. Baji was so strong, he kept his act until moments before his death. And that was when he finally could be himself again. It must have been so hard for him to hurt the people he actually loved, but he kept going nevertheless. I wonder if he ever had a moment where he was at his breaking point, thinking about stopping with the act.

So in conclusion, we can see that Baji is a perceptive, strong-willed boy who would do everything for the people that he loves.

so yeah... we're really into valhalla arc...

you know what caught my attention about the whole ordeal of baji using chifuyu as his "sacrifice"?

yes, that he was emotionless the whole time, not grinning nor laughing like usually, because he obviously wasn't enjoying the beating.

but also, the titles of the chapters that cover the whole thing:

no pain, no gain: so baji IS hurting, to baji every punch must be painful, watching chifuyu on the floor like that, his blood on his hand, the passivity with which chifuyu lets him do what he needs to, theres is sadness in his eyes when he looks at him the last time. but he is doing all that for a reason, and that's probably what keeps him going. the greater good... at the price of sacrificing someone very dear to him.

double cross: pretty self-explanatory, it's because of the betrayal, but also it means setting a trap... does that mean, valhalla or baji actually set a trap to chifuyu? ( i don't really want to think about that possibility because I can only think about chifuyu following baji until the end).

but then I thought... cross? like carrying the cross? and there's two of them? could it be the dead of shinichiro and now, the betrayal, the beating of chifuyu?

I'm sure baji feels guilty about both.

the good thing is, i got to see kazutora and now that I kinda like him, it was nice <3 he still wants to kill mikey and do crazy things tho, so seeing him on valhalla arc feels weird

i think kazutora lowkey looking like baji, and takemichi even believing he's seeing baji when kazutora comes to rescue him could be a metaphor of kazutora becoming a better man because of baji or what happened with him. but don't listen to me, i could be reading to much into this lol

you know... i like the fact that on the anime adaptation they keep adding chifuyu on moments where he originally didn't appear on the manga because i think of those moments as key moments to further explain things.

like when they fight moebius they are shown side by side, and if you have readed the manga you will know that's a wink saying "here there are, the captain and vicecaptain of the first division, fighting together"

also, chifuyu being shown always along with baji tell us how he always followed him.

and then when baji announces he's leaving toman chifuyu is there...

that... was painful, not gonna lie, a way to deepening the wound if you ask me.

but that also answered one of my questions, because I always wondered if chifuyu knew about baji's decision before everyone else (no he didn't).

now I'm wondering how baji bringed chifuyu to valhalla hideout...

did chifuyu followed him and valhalla took advantage of the situation? (that's my headcanon btw)

did baji tricked him into coming with him or he told him beforehand what was gonna happen?

writing fanfiction is just. i’m being so creative and original. i’m plagiarizing everyone by accident. i’m a genius. i’m cringe. i’m too angsty. i’m too cheesy. this is not in character. it doesn’t matter that it’s not in character because these are my characters now. i love my hobby. this is the worst possible use of my time. i’m seeking validation. i’m projecting my own personal problems onto this story and i’m barely hiding it. i know so many words and i’m using all of them wrong. im on tumblr posting about it instead of writing it.
