I’m not really in the mood for a ship war, but it seems that everyone who ships other pairing always put their analysis dismissing Ran and Shinichi’s relationship.

I really respect other ships and the fans who don’t need to bring down the main ship for the sake of their ships. BUT I want to hijack this post because it gives me the perfect excuse to say why I’m strongly disagree and the reason of why I am a diehard ShinRan shipper.

First of all I want to repeat that I’M NOT AGAINST ANY SHIP OR CHARACTER (I bet some of you can’t say the same when you talk about your ship, can ya?) Yep, I’m salty because of the hate towards my ship and fav character, but that isn’t the topic right now.

Ok so CoAi. #Ohwhatabeautifulship for some of you. Great partnership, amazing chemistry, good friends, they’re in the same situation so they understand each other perfectly, they’re equals, etc. Yeah, their interactions are great and funny and I really get why people ship them but you see all those traits are wonderful for a friendship too. I can’t help, but seeing those interactions between them remind me of a sibling-like relationship. I adore the teasing and the oi-oi faces from Conan when Haibara says something salty. Yeah, it’s my opinion but I can’t see any sign of romantic interaction in their relationship. For me, they work better as friends and that takes me to the point of why I’m disagree.

You see, I have a best friend and he’s a guy. I love him, he’s my best friend and he knows me so well it scares me, and we have this CoAi relationship of saltiness and teasing. It’s a great relationship. And also… I do have a boyfriend. He’s my best friend too but from a different perspective. He’s the only person (Ok, with my mom) tha knows me so well. I trust him completely and I love him with my life (5 year-relationship it’s like a marriage in this century haha). So what I want to say is that a relationship is built from the tolerance and love to each other. It works with tolerance because you acept the other with their virtues and flaws. You complement the other because you are different, you have different interests but you can share dreams and life perspectives. You know, CoAi is like my friend and me, too similar. Too familiar. Like brother and Sister. For the other hand, ShinRan are completely different but they do understand each other and complement each other. They tease each other, but they don’t need to be salty (It’s really annoying when your partner teases you so much in a salty way, believe me). So, for me, CoAi is a beautiful and irreplaceable friendship built from a partnership and understanding of each other situations.

But ShinRan, is love. Just pure and simple love. Why do I ship them so much? Because when you fall in love with someone it’s not because you have the best chemistry or because you’re equals. It’s because your heart feels for you. It isn’t logic. It doesn’t have to be that way. It has to be felt. The way Shinichi feels about Ran amazes me since day 1 and the way Ran is faithful, reliable and understanding with him makes me realize the huge love she feels for that dork. Shinichi uses the logic to corner a culprit but Ran has the power to bring out the best side of the many kind of humans she has met. She just has the ability to strike certain inner strings and turn on that light that shines within everybody. She complements. She is the Watson to his Holmes. They’re different but also one in the same. Shinichi and Ran share the exact same life vision, priorities and code of values as well as an equal willingness and stubborness to take action to defend them. Ran has fallen in love with Shinichi the moment she realized that, the moment she truly understood how similar they were. They both are a huge inspiration to each other.

My vision is romantic (I know) but you can’t blame me. I’m a hopeless romantic.

The heart wants what it wants ❤

I don’t think Ran is abusive towards Shinichi at all. She’s obviously lost for him, and she grew a lot with time, being less aggressive over any “possible” Shinichi love interests.

But, even if they are madly in love with each other now, I just can’t see this ship working in long terms.

The point is that, in my opinion, Shinichi needs someone who’s on his same level. Who has a similar mind to his, and that can always stimulate his brain.

Ran is … too pure for him. They don’t walk the same path. She doesn’t stimulate him, with Ran he actually stops thinking . He gets all doki-doki and loses his rationality.

I think his relationship with Ran will soon end after some years of official engagement, merely because she doesn’t light up his inner fire. She doesn’t make him shine.

While Ai and Heiji do.

They are on his same level, they challenge him, they tease him, they take out what’s inside him, his real potential.

I love how both these ships have hilarious moments as well as tragic angsty moments. They can die for each other and still insult and criticize him minutes after. There is something in their bond ( Both CoAi and HeiShin ) that, to my eyes, will always be more powerful, more intense, more fiery than the classic, romantic love Shinichi feels for Ran.

It’s still love, but taken a level deeper. It’s not just emotional, it’s… at 360º .

To me, ShinRan is the perfect portrayal of a crush, while HeiShin and CoAi are the perfect portayal of real love . A bond stronger than emotions.

That said, this is just my personal opinion and I’d love to read other reflections on this subject!

Yup I understand your view, but for me love doesn’t mean to be in the same level. It’s a complement. A strong bond is built by emotions (in my case).

Sorry, but HeiShin and CoAi are just BROTPs for me. I don’t see anything romantic in their interactions. They are too familiar, like I said before.

But, I do believe we could have a change in the ShinRan dynamic regarding the BO given that Ran is Shinichi’s gf and Kogoro’s daughter. So I think I cannot asume that she is in a lower level. I’ve seen her working with him and being a partner too. Haibara and Heiji know his secret so it’s obvious that they gonna have more interactions with him.

And I blame Gosho for that. That stupid Status Quo he has established.

I love the story the way it is, but Ran’s been displaced too much. We barely have seen actual ShinRan interactions and besides the love they feel for each other, I still see potencial in their relationship.

But, yeah, I understand your reasons for shipping CoAi/HeiShin, but I see them from another perspective :)

People can make all kinds of “real life childhood friend romance wont last“ analysis, but just admit the fact that in Gosho’s DCMK universe, childhood friend romance will work :) that’s all it matters.
