112 vs 454 : Character Development:
These two scenes show CRUCIAL development for Evergreen and they are very much so relevant to my portrayal of Evergreen. In the first cap (112 pg 6) we see her coming across as overly confident, looking down on Erza and being one of the main reasons most people just believe Evergreen is a cold-hearted bitch. In the second cap (454 pg 19) Ever is willingly giving up her title and cheering Erza on.
Chapter 112:
In X784 Evergreen was arrogant and overly confident of her capabilities, something that in itself was a lot of development for her considering her usually low self-esteem and poor body image issues from the past, it was then added to by her team mates and Laxus who encouraged her confidence, they had witnessed her at her worst and they had seen her at her best so they always encouraged her to be the best version of herself.
Unfortunately for Ever, back then, the best version was herself was extremely similar to her mother/the children who bullied her as a child and so how she behaved was with malice and cruelty, she paid no care for those of her guild, they were supposed to be her family and though they had not necessarily done anything wrong to her, they hadn’t done anything all that great for her in comparison to her team either, while they welcomed and loved people like Lucy and Juvia who had only just joined. Not only this but they worshipped a woman, who in Evergreen’s eyes, was an over-glorified bully.
Erza was a woman who spoke more with her fists than with her words, when someone was out of line they got hit and to Evergreen, who had seen nothing but abuse in her life, this was extremely unsettling and made her down right disgusted, she never understood why Erza was considered to be all mighty, especially when Evergreen herself was the one who used Fairy Magic. She was the true Fairy Queen, her title should be Titania, not Erza and she was not afraid to finally state that. She may have been following Laxus’ orders but she herself was just as lost as Laxus, he simply gave her the opportunity she needed to express herself.
Chapter 454:
After the Fantasia fiasco, Evergreen began to understand more and more what it meant to be a part of Fairy Tail and why the had the morals they did, they were just like the real Faeries she had so longed to be and after Freed and Bixlow began to branch out and try to be friends with other people, so did she. It was because of this that she began to feel more at home in the guild itself and not just around the Raijinshuu and while she did miss Laxus everyday, she was grateful that he had made them stay.
As each day went on, and she learnt more about the guild and more specifically Erza, what she went through in the Tower of Heaven and how she had to grow up before she came to the guild was not something that Ever was aware of and after learning about the conditions of this Evergreen became a lot more understanding to her behaviour, she still disliked and ultimately envied the title and attention Erza got but she understood.
It of course didn’t make her anymore accepting of the fact, she wanted to be the Queen of the Fairies, it was her right but alas it wasn’t a reality. Gradually though, very gradually, the urge to hold that title faded, it didn’t lessen in strength but it wasn’t her main goal anymore, no her goal was simply to be happy and included, which was why she chose to be Elfman’s S-Class partner, to be included and make more friends ( though she just seemed pissy she was slightly upset that Freed didn’t choose her ).
What happened on Tenrou, followed by their return and getting Laxus back in the guild only lessened her need to have it happen faded even more, she was too happy to have her best friends back and all together. Over time this continued to fade, doing so even more after Fairy Tail disbanded due to the fact there was no more Fairies, only in their hearts did the guild exist and Ever seemed somewhat content with this, or so she had believed.
Everything then changed when the guild was brought back together, Evergreen finally realized that she didn’t need to be seen as the Queen of the Fairies, the desire hadn’t just faded from her wants but it had disappeared all together, she simply needed to be a Fairy, one with a loving family and after a year at Blue Pegasus ( which was lovely but not Fairy Tail ) she truly came to accept that Erza lead them when others couldn’t and could go as far as to call her Titania.
This was NOT that Evergreen was giving up and just passing over everything she had wanted to Erza, it wasn’t even really that she was submitting to Erza, it was purely the fact that for once in her life Evergreen felt as though she truly belonged, she was content with her life and it was because of that, that she didn’t care about being the leader or the most beautiful one. She just needed to belong.
Weight:
As said in other posts, Evergreen was severely bullied as a child and was always extremely envious of the ‘normal’ individuals that could walk around because they were naturally beautiful and thin. In addition to this her mother was the worst kind of person that simply worsened Evergreen’s view on herself by ‘helping’ her lose weight by starving her and vigorous exercise, of course this wasn’t all the time because Ever was smarter than that and even though she disliked her own appearance she wasn’t about to go along with that.
After she joined Fairy Tail, more specifically the Raijinshuu, and began to feel at home for once she began to grow more comfortable around her new family, Laxus, Bixlow and Freed were all kind to her. Around this time however Ever’s body was beginning to change even more though and when she looked around the guild and saw how beautiful everyone else was, though she herself was beautiful she simply couldn’t see it, and it brought back every insecurity she had ever had.
This time around however there was no one there who criticized her, except herself, and as a result she began to work out all the time, normally having Bixlow or Freed with her and making them push her so she would ‘improve’ and though that was her goal her main one was that hopefully they would push her enough she would finally lose weight. When this wasn’t enough, though she was losing plenty of weight, she began to start reducing her food intake, the most common type of Anorexia Nervosa.
She knew it wasn’t healthy for her and she did still eat however it was the bare minimum that her body needed to survive, she just wanted nothing more than to be the beautiful person she imagined in her dreams. Naturally her friends had began to notice the physical side effects of her disorder, her hair was thinning and frail and her skin was often cracked and pale, her body just seemed all together weaker and it was worrying to say the least but none of them knew what she was doing, she had never been one to eat at the guild anyway so when she started eating less they couldn’t take much notice.
It wasn’t until one day they were going out for tea and Ever all but refused to eat that they finally realised what was going on and decided that enough was enough, together they helped Ever as best they could in a healthy way until she was a lot better. To this day she still has a lot of issues with her body image and how she looks, she is constantly working to make sure she looks as good as she does, but she is doing so in a healthy manner, of course there are times when she relapses or slips into that mindset that but her friends always help her pull out of it.
The only people who are aware of this are Bixlow, Freed and Laxus ( though they don’t have to if you/ you muse is uncomfortable with it in interactions ) and is a very serious and private thing that Evergreen goes through, it is not something that she will ever glorify or think of as ‘good’ and she would never use it for attention, it will be portrayed as a serious mental illness.

@crushtheweakones--thundergod
The downpour currently covering Magnolia was probably one of the worst in years, the normally cheerful and sunny town now simply seemed dank and far too dark which was probably why it was so easy for her to get targeted. She may have been a member of the Raijinshuu but they worked so well as a team for a reason, yes they could hold their own when not together but right now she was already beat from an earlier job, so without back up she was an easy victim.
It had barely even made her flinch when she realised she had to walk home in the dark but that’s because it wasn’t an issue normally, and the rain was more of an annoyance than a hinderance. That’s what she had believed at least, until her small body was shoved backwards by a person she couldn’t see clearly and every muscle protested with aches from earlier.
Attempting to hone her senses she instantly took her glasses off, she could reverse the damage later, but when the ‘face’ of her assailant looked up at her there was nothing there but darkness and slight shine when their eyes should be. They’d come prepared and fear suddenly ran up her spine, she knew she had other Magic, her wings could quite easily lift her to safety, but her body wouldn’t allow it, she was frozen in place like one of her statues even though it was her own body’s doing.
She was a proud woman though and when their fist was pulled back, connecting with her stomach a few moments later, she refused to make a sound, no cries of pain or even a sharp intake of breath. It was her body and she wouldn’t give anyone the satisfaction of making her cry but much like the other times when she had experienced a savage beating, her mind instantly slipped back to that safe place with her Faeries, no one could hurt her there.
As with every other time though, she didn’t even notice when a crack sounded that was her ribs, or that the blood pooling around her face that was now pressed to the cold, wet cobblestone was her own, no none of it was even registered as she lay there defenceless, her faeries would come to protect her, they always did. It wasn’t until her body began to shake though, her skin even paler than before, that she came sinking back to reality and all of a sudden it was that day in the forest, though this time she was a lot worse off, and a monster was standing over her yet again but much like before a blonde boy, no man this time, was also there to save her.
Tears now streaming down her face, the comfort and overwhelming safety she felt from just having a member of her family so close, she tried to move back just slightly so he could fight better, she knew if he used his Magic he might fry them all in this weather, but the second she tried a scream left her lips. The pain of it all came rushing in all at once and she whimpered, curling in on herself as best she could while black spots began to cover her normally hazy vision, her voice coming out soft but she knew he’d hear it.
“– L-axus… H-elp…”
Fairy Tail:
Evergreen was ten when she was forced out of her home town, her mother having turned her back on her, she was forced to make it on her own in the world. Coming from the edge of Fiore however, far west of Fiore to be exact, she struggled desperately to find he way and make it through but she did manage to travel for at least a week on her own, making it to the forest on the outskirts of the capital when she was attacked by a Wyvern that was clearly starving.
Not knowing what to do, the values and morals she held due to her belief in Faeries all but forbid her from harming animals, Evergreen had simply accepted her fate as it was, this was the end of her short life, when a blur of green and blue slammed past her and directly into the beast, a deafening crack soon following it. The sounds that came from just a few meters away from her afterwards were terrifying and by the time she was well aware that the Wyvern’s life had been ended she was sobbing for it’s loss, despite the fact it had wanted to eat her.
Looking up from where she lay, her body tensing and preparing to just be struck, she was surprised when a young boy not much older than herself held out his hand to her, his blue hair sticking out every way as his dark sunglasses covered his eyes, a few small wooden totems floated around him with a green aura and despite the obvious look of pure concern on his face, he was grinning at her. Frowning herself, she wiped her eyes and looked up at him when another boy, with golden hair and spikes covering his ears, walked over and asked the other if she was okay.
Much to the blondes dismay, Laxus never was one for patience or crying girls, the blue haired boy insisted that they bring her with them back to the guild so that not only could she get looked at by the guilds healer but hopefully get some guidance from their Master. Of course at first Ever was petrified of going anywhere with them, her fear of people getting the better of her, but Bixlow simply wouldn’t take no for an answer after seeing how dark her soul was despite how good she seemed but things became significantly easier when they told her the guilds name, a home for Faeries was exactly where she belonged and so she went willingly with them.
Laxus and Bixlow were the first people ever to simply accept and welcome her, without taunting or hurting her in some way, and so after she met Makarov and joined the guild, she stuck with them. Bixlow was ecstatic, he had another friend to hang out with and though Ever thought they were a little weird she liked his totems and Laxus was okay with it, as long as she didn’t hang off of him, which she did every chance she got. ( Freed didn’t join till a little later )
Envy/Stone Eyes:
My Evergreens Magic is based off the Seven Deadly Sins, more specifically Envy, and stems from the abuse she went through as a child. Though she rarely showed it on the surface, Evergreen was incredibly envious of the other children and even her own mother for being beautiful, for having no obvious issues that gave them the ability to walk around freely without anxiety or fear, it was something that she wanted for herself so badly which is the whole reason she started dressing like a Faerie in the first place, to be beautiful.
Though at the time she discovered her Magic, Ever had believed it was a blessing, a gift the Faerie’s had given to her for being so loyal to them, it was in fact a very deep set curse, one that was a result of her soul darkening rather than a natural inheritance ( though her father was magical ) and as such the only way for her to control it is to wear her glasses, an artificial block that ensures she cannot turn a person to stone.
This is another reason that Ever never knew of her Magic, though it didn’t develop until she was at least five, but she never took off her glasses after she got them because of her normally poor eyesight, which was a direct result after her Magic had developed but surprisingly enough to her Ever can actually see fine now when her glasses off but she wont risk it anymore, it’s just easier to not have the constant burden of struggling with her magic.
Due to this her Stone Eyes can act up on her even WITH her glasses on when she is feeling overly envious of something, which is why she always tried her hardest to avoid Erza when they were both at the guild.
Childhood:
Evergreen had a troubled childhood, she was a little on the ‘heavy’ side and because of this she was teased all the time, paired with her glasses she got an endless array of insults that never seemed to lessen the pain no matter how often she heard it. This was all before she was even old enough to understand why it was happening, she was only five when it started, and as a result she became very isolated, she would always play by herself and run to hide whenever any other children came near her, the only person she could find solace in was her mother and even she wasn’t all that a comfort, her solution was to ‘diet’ (starve) Ever so that they would leave her alone.
Ever however had a better way, it wasn’t much better mentally than her mothers methods but it did keep her healthy and she preferred it that way, so Ever began to dress as a Faerie, the Magical Creatures from lore that were renowned and worshipped for their beauty, she would dress as a Faerie, behave as a Faerie and even took on some of the morals that the Fae were said to have. This did not lessen the bullying any however, in fact it made it worse, but Evergreen now had her own safe place, her own ‘world’ inside her mind to escape to because she was a Faerie and she was untouchable.
This only seemed to anger the children more, adding to their list of insults but when Ever made no attempt to stop them, didn’t even give them a response, it caused them to be so enraged that it lead to physical attacks, the strikes that hit her having no training and little force behind them but they still hurt her and she finally cried for them to stop before just curling into a ball and pretending that none of them were real. Beyond scared Evergreen managed to run home, by the time they stopped it was dark into the night, and didn’t dare wake her mother who had simply gone to bed without a care for where her daughter was.
This went on for years, the physical abuse only getting worse and worse as Evergreen fell more and more into herself. Her mother who was extremely beautiful and constantly focused on the concept of being beautiful found her to be a disappointment because Ever was doing nothing to work on her image, too engrossed in her believing she was a Faerie for her to focus on losing the weight that wasn’t even that bad to begin with and so she did nothing to stop the constant beatings that Ever was getting almost daily and refused to let her stay home, despite being petrified of leaving the house.
It wasn’t until one day when things were going too far and Ever was starting to lose consciousness that she’d finally had enough, her soul was broken and the Faeries just weren't real but when the most popular and beautiful girl in town, her own age, removed the glasses from her face to look in her eyes Ever screamed out in fear, only to stop when she felt the fists and feet stop, her own screams being replaced with those around her and she made out the brief figure of the girl who stole her glasses. Sitting up, grabbing her glasses quickly she put them on and gasped, the girl was solid stone and though it was horrible, Evergreen was so glad that she cried.
After that Evergreen returned home but what she was welcomed to was an angry mob of the towns people, the children who had beat her instantly turning their fingers to her despite the fact she was the one bloodied and bruised and when her mother asked if the rumours were true, if she had been responsible for the girl turning to stone, all she could say was that the Faeries had heard her prayers but it was a enough of a confession for her mother to simply turn her back and walk back into the house, not looking back at her daughter before she was chased out of town.
The mob had no intention of allowing her to live however, she had to pay for her crime, but when a hand struck her face and her glasses flew off the immense fear and fresh, raw burst of magic power that had accumulated over the years turned them all to stone, permanently. Their bodies, to this day, are still pure stone and they reside in the cemetery of the town she had lived in, the story behind their creation nothing but a myth to the people now.

The 100 Sentence Starters : accepting
She still didn’t know what to make of the Lion Spirit, on the one hand he was her guild mate and someone who had proven himself useful time after time alongside Lucy but then he had also lied about who he was for three whole years… So while she was willing to accept him, to rely on him if it ever came down to it to get his job done, she couldn’t say she trusted him or his judgement entirely.
Perhaps it was a little hypocritical, to have not yet forgiven someone for something so minimal when she had done far worse in everyone’s eyes but she was also yet to have time alone with the male to establish and provide her forgiveness. Meaning in the Fairy Mage’s eyes, he was still on shaky ground when it came to how she viewed him and she wasn’t about to simply agree with his actions either.

Y’mean how it’s like, more of something within them that gets unlocked from a trauma? So it’s like, a constant war within themselves because on the one hand they have to try and uphold the morals of a Fairy Tail Mage but then there’s this darkness that’s always trying to take over, trying to grant them an ultimate power but knowing that it will result in the destruction of their humanity if they do because it’ll go to their heads..
It’s kind of like a curse that reflects their weaknesses, something if they lose control of will reflect negatively on themselves as well.
Because I know for my Evergreen I made it so that her magic is tied to her desire to be beautiful, like her insecurities are her greatest weakness and so her inner darkness plays on that emotion. The ability to turn people to stones is trapping them, keeping them in that perpetual state so that they can never change, those considered beautiful will stay that way but anyone else is trapped in their imperfections which is how she feels most of the time. Her glasses act as a diffuser so that she has more control.
With Freed it would be his desire to protect everyone, to have the power to create order in the form of rules in which he has to hide with his hair to stop the direct flow, he has such a large desire to protect those he holds dear and to be strong enough to actually achieve such a fete that it becomes his insecurity which is what branches his constant studying of everything and pushing himself to his limits because he refuses to give in and that darkness grants him access to success when he allows it to break through.
Bixlow it’s control, he doesn’t have the ability to control others actions and how they behave around/treat him but because he hasn’t exactly been treated kindly in the past his insecurities in himself made his biggest wish to be that he could control how people saw him. By controlling their souls he gained the power to make an unlimited amount of people to care for him but by doing so it’s against their will. His visor cuts off the flow so he can control it and only use it when needed.
Being Fairy Tail Mage’s their greatest power also becomes their greatest enemy in a way because the second they step too far it could be too late and they don’t want to lose the only people who have accepted them. It’s both a gift and a burden, one they have to constantly try and find a way to balance out.
Don’t use my headcanon in RP’s unless you’re Sel though, or ask, ‘cause it took me forever to flush it out.
The truth is not in the touch of a STONE, but in what the stone tells you
