So many so so many so many sharks
Winner of the Kiss a Shark Week Poll, itâs the Whale Shark!!!
The whale shark is the largest fish in the world! The largest confirmed individual had a length of 18.8 m (61.7 ft)!Â
The whale shark is found in open waters of the tropical oceans and is rarely found in water below 21 °C (70 °F). Studies looking at vertebral growth bands (like rings on a tree!) have estimated whale shark lifespans at 80â130 years!Â
Whale sharks are filter feeders as well! They feed almost exclusively on plankton and small fishes, and pose no threat to humans. In fact, divers often like to swim along side whale sharks since they are such gentle giantsÂ
Like human fingerprints, whale sharks have a unique pattern of spots which allow individual sharks to be identified.
Sadly, whale sharks are endangered due to the impacts of fisheries, by-catch losses, and vessel strikes as well as their later sexual maturity. These sharks are also hunted illegally for their fins, skin, and oil.Â
There are a few aquariums in the world that successfully keep whale sharks! These include the Georgia Aquarium in the US and the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan.Â
All in all, these sharks are massive, beautiful, and should be loved and appreciated like all other creatures, and they deserve a kiss from everyone <3Â Â
this is so important what color is this
i literally need wings i need to be able to fly it's actually killing me to stay on the ground any longer are there any shady secret experimental government labs in my area looking for test subjects
love is stored in the Bonk
the trans yearning to have giant fucking wings
One iced latte with low-fat #mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm milk, please.
I shared these guys individually in older posts, but here they are side by side (character line ups are always great). These Shark Dog watercolors were a lot of fun to create. I never realized how diverse sharks were in regards to size and shapeâŚnature is pretty amazing.
Sharks featured:Â Basking shark, Thresher shark, Sand Tiger shark, Great White shark, Tiger shark, Hammerhead shark, Goblin shark, Horned shark, Whale shark, Frilled shark, Cat shark, and Megamouth shark
âtrans people with object namesâ and âtrans people with average namesâ is missing an untapped market of âtrans people with seemingly average shorthand names for absolutely insane full namesâ for example. max short for Maxwell House Brand Coffee Filters
The best dynamic for a group of characters: every single one of them is the weirdest person you will ever meet, but in wildly different ways. Every time you think youâve identified âthe normal oneâ they casually reveal that they donât think birds exist, or they fistfight grizzly bears on the weekends, or they collect human skulls, and you realize again that none of these people are remotely normal.
Also theyâre found family.
i have acquired a douglasÂŽď¸ brand whale shark plushie. what should i name them?
also they are very cute and i 100% recommend folks go look at it (although i may be slightly biased due to my love for the big ol starry fellas)

i think wildlife presenters narrating predator and prey interactions should spice it up a little. give that terrified little mouse being circled by hawks a sword and see what happens.
