A small raven cycle one shot
I'll prob write a full fic for this but for now I'm writing the draft for this part cause its the part I envisioned in my head. Also its heavily (like a one for one of the scene) based off of the scene in sense8 in season 1 episode 4 of What's up? by 4 non blondes.
Gansey
Gansey just got him from a long gala with his parents and sister. He's exhausted but he wants to finish the work he started last night. Once he gets to his room, he removes his bow tie like it personality offended him. He throws it onto the foot of his bed. He takes a breath undoing the first three buttons on his shirt. He walks from his bed to his desk and pulls out the chair sitting heavily into it. He just breathes for a moment, letting the day's stresses fade away. Leaning forward, he grabs the note book and flips through it until he gets to the cave page. He gets to work writing.
Blue
Blue can't believe she got into a fight. She never fights, but the douche had it coming. Her mom isn't even angry at her, she is quite proud actually. Blue doesn't even know what set her off on the prick, maybe it was him insulting everyone in her family or that he kept calling her schizo all week. Maybe all of the staring had been grating on her nerves and he was the final straw?
Blue didn't know and she didn't really care either. She comes to this conclusion as her mom pulls up to the driveway. “Blue?” “Yeah?” She asks looking at her mom, thinking she missed a conversation starter but she just saw a triumphant look in her eyes. “Noxt time don't get caught.” Blue smiles a wicked smile back, “I won't." She climbs out of the car.
Once opening the door she kicks her shoes off and runs up to her room. She wants to get her work done as soon as possible so she can talk to her boys. Throwing her bag on the bed she grabs her school note book out and gets to work. She puts headphones in and tunes on her ipod. Jane! By The Long Faces starts playing. She flips open the notebook and gets to work.
Noah
Noah has been on a kick recently, going to school, going to family dinner, going out with his friends. He's been managing it a lot better sense the cave. Sense speaking to the others. Like today for example, he was out with some friends at a party. It was a well needed break from all the tragedy in his life recently. He's sitting at a booth but that didn't stop girls from coming up and talking with him, dancing for him, dancing with him. Leaving with him.
That's right he has a very beautiful girl next to him, naked of course. She has beautiful long brown hair with hazel eyes, a round face, pale skin. She's cleaning up as he lays there watching her. His head turned to the side half hiding in the pillow. She stands grabbing her clothing when he zones out for a moment.
Ronan
Ronan was sleeping outside tonight. He didn't care about what anyone said, if he had to share the house with Declen one more night he would burn down their precious family farm, and he quite likes the farm, so sleeping outside it is.
He doesn't mind though, it's not the first time and it certainly won't be the last. So he walks, more like stomps, to the barn furthest from the house. There's a few cows resting when he opens the door, so he walks to one of them and slowly rests himself on it. He'd learned the first couple times sleeping out here that it gets cold as balls and that sleeping next to the cattle was better for him.
The cow looks at him and he reaches over petting her snoot. “Hey girl, I'm going to be your roommate tonight, so be mindful.” he whispers into the silence and Vienna lays her head back down closer to Ronan with time so she can see him. He lays back and relaxes until sleep takes him.
Adam
Adam’s had a long day at work, he's covered in grease and he just wants to shower. Walking up the stairs to his friend's shitty apartment is easy enough. It's a very narrow stairwell so he has to be careful. Unlocking the door was an issue however because for some godforsaken reason he could remember which key was which. Finally after an embarrassingly long time trying to figure it out he gets in. The apartment is empty, which is a blessing, because Adam is not in the mood to deal with Jacob.
Adam walks to his small corner of the tiny apartment. Grabbing some clothes from his bag, careful not to smudge the grease from his work clothes on them, he walks to the bathroom. Stripping has never felt better than right now. He turns on the water and waits a few minutes to let it heat up from icy cold to simi-worm. Once it does he climbs in, and the water, no matter how cold it is, feels great washing away the oil and dirt on his body.
Henry
Henry is out with some friends. He's having a great time and he even gets to sing karaoke. He of course picks ‘Whats up?’ By 4 non blondes, he loves this song.
The music starts and he hums along to it waiting for the words.
Third person
Henry hums along, Ronan in his sleep taps his foot in rhythm with the song. “Twenty-five years and my life is still,” Blue takes out a headphone, smiling when he hears the song, she sings, “Tryin’ to get that great big hill of hope,” Gansey laughs looking at the page and shakes his head. Adam tunes in swaying as he lathers shampoo into his hair. Gansey joins in, “For a destination,” Noah turns back into the world then, and hums along. The women looking back and giving him an odd look, he doesn't care, he likes this song.
Henry smiles on stage staring out at the crowd watching him. “I realized quickly when I should,” Blue pauses her music and puts her ipod away. “That the world was made up of this brotherhood,” She whispers as she continues to work. “Of men, for whatever that means,” Noah sings, the woman finally getting her clothes on, she doesn't look back but Noah can see her start swaying her head no doubt knowing what song it is he's singing.
“And so I cry sometimes,” Henry continues as the crowd joins in. “When I'm lying in bed,” Gansey sings looking up from his book to the window. “Just to get it all out, what's in my head,” Ronan whispers in his sleep. “And I, I am feeling a little peculiar,” Adam sways, putting his head under the spray.
“So I wake in the morning and I step outside,” Henry starts feeling himself more with it. Blue closes her work and leans back looking at her ceiling. “And I take a deep breath,” Gansey spins in his chair, “And i get real high and i,” He laughs coming to a quick stop with his hand on the desk. “Scream from the top of my lungs,” Noah says louder as the woman opens his bedroom door and leaves. “Whats going on?” Adam says louder now.
“And I say, Hey-ey-ey,” Ronan slowly opens his eyes from his restless sleep and looks at the door across from him. “Hey-ey-ey,” He continued. Henry laughs, singing louder into the microphone. “And I say “Hey, a-whats going on?” “And i say, Hey yeah yeah, hey yeah yeah,” blue stands from her seat shimmying around her room. “I said “Hey, a-whats going on?” Noah throws his hand in the air shimmying in his bed.
“Ooh, ooh ooh,” The crowd laughs, and Henry can't help but laugh too. “Ooh, uh huh,” Ronan sways his feet back and forth. “Ohh, ooh ooh,” Gansey stands and in his well tailored suit starts dancing or more like sliding his feet on the rug and swaying his hips. “Ooh, uh huh, ooh!” Adam spins shimmying around in the shower. “Ooh, uh huh!” Henry laughs as it comes out.
“And I try,” blue starts, her voice getting louder. “Oh my god do it try,” Gansey turns to his bed and smiles. “I try all the time,” Noah sits up, throwing his legs over the side and standing in all his naked glory. “In this institution,” Henry starts dancing, letting all his doubts go. “And I pray,” Ronan sits up, “oh my god do i pray,” His voice grows louder in the silence. He stands and moves to the doors opening them. Stepping out he can see the stars above and the shadows of cattle moving in the near darkness.
He moves spinning, not caring at the moment what an idea he must look like dancing in silence, but for the first time in years he feels truly happy, he feels seen, known even. “I pray every single day!” He sings out his voice loud, the only noise out here but the crickets. “For a revolution!” Adam sings louder now, not caring about anything else but getting everything off his chest.
“And so I cry sometimes,” Blue sings louder, she can hear people outside quieting down. “When I'm lying in bed!” Gansey sings as he moves to his bed. He's never been one to jump on beds but right now feels like the perfect time.
“Just to get it all out,” Noah screams, dancing around his room as he picks up his clothes to shower. “Whats in my head,” Adam Screams, laughing at himself as he dances in the shower. The water long sense runs cold. “And I, I am feeling a little peculiar,” Henry spins dramatically until he faces the crowd again.
“And so I wake in the morning and I step outside,” Ronan moves around the farm grounds singing, not caring if mud is caking into his pants from the deeper puddles or that animals are getting up to watch him.
“And I take a deep breath and I get real high!” Noah turns on the water and leaves the bathroom to get clean clothes. “And I scream from the top of my lungs!” Gansey screams, jumping and dancing on his bed. “Whats going on?” Blue sings and spins around her room, she almost trips but catches herself. She looks up from where she caught herself on her bed. There in the middle of her bed standing, is gansey looking down at her. He smiles warmly and reaches a hand out, Blue doesn't hesitate to take it. He pulls her up, so they're both standing on her bed, which is cramped but neither complain about it.
“And I say, Hey-ey-ey,” They sing in unison. “Hey-ey-ey,” there's another voice now, they turn, and there stands Adam, towel around his waist staring wide eyed at them. “A said “Hey, a-what’s going on?” All three look to the other end of the room. Henry with a microphone, singing into it smiles at them. “And I say, Hey-ey-ey,” He keeps going, “Hey-ey-ey,” In a blink of an eye Noah stands next to him, in boxers, “I said “Hey, a-whats going on?” They all sing in unison and it makes all of them laugh because it's kind of a serious question due to their situation but also, they know there's no explanation for them.
“And I say, hey-ey-ey,” Ronan is between Noah and Adam singing softly now. “Hey-ey-ey,” They all sing, getting louder again. “I said “Hey, a-what's going on?” they are all basically screaming again, they all laugh. “Ooh, ooh ooh ooh, uh huh,” They all sing in unison. “Twenty-five years and my life is still, tryin’ to get up that great big hill of hope, for a destination, mmm.” They finish the song off together. All looking at each other, wondering how they're going to fix the mess they're in.
