The Buckner Family - Cabin in the Woods 2012

I just had to add the delightfully terrifying Zombie Redneck Torture Family "The Buckners" to Sweet Zombie Jesus as I don't believe they've made an appearance here before. The family is unknowingly tapped as the harbingers of death for the unsuspecting college students out for a weekend get away when their family heirloom is picked from seemingly random objects found in the cabin's basement. What cabin has a basement??? The gruesome ghouls are just one of many terrors that lay in store for...well everyone in the entire movie to bring mayhem and destruction to anything that gets in their way. Zombies are only one of the many movie monsters you'll witness in this horror romp. It's host to a giant snake, werewolf, angry molesting tree, clowns, deadites, demons, vampires, 1 merman and many more. This movie is a dark comedy in the same vein of Evil Dead. Gory, spooky for sure, but a comedy nonetheless.

I give Cabin In The Woods 4 out of 5 bio hazards. This delightful gorefest is truly a solid watch for fans of horror. A bit campy and sophmoric, but a fun and enjoyable romp noetheless. If you're into schlocky horror you could do worse for a Friday night rental of this monster movie.

Cell 2016

Cell is an unassuming zombie flick I watched because it stars John Cusack, Samuel Jackson & Stacy Keach. Written by horror great Stephen King it’s a new take on the zombie genre where the public succumbs to the violent killing disease by a signal transmitted through cell phones.

The beginning of the movie is more reminiscent of the remake of Romero's the Crazies, but by act 2 these walking freaks are definitely zombies. Albeit a different kind of zombies, but zombies nonetheless. It's interesting take on the whole distopian theme with some heavy handed writing, but fun to watch.

Samuel Jackson's character supports the trope that I'm so tired of seeing in horror movies where there's something completely unbelievable that happens, but the mundane seems trite. For instance his character is willing to believe that the entire world has been turned into zombies, but he refuses to believe that they somehow communicate telepathically. If you're going to believe the unbelieveable embrace it god dammit.

While Cell is not the greatest zombie movie of all time it is a fun watch. It definetly has it's issues, but early on there's a great stadium zombie barbecue scene that's a crunchy must see.

Cooties a Zombie Film with Kids

An Illinois elementary school is over run by students infected with "Cooties". The disease only effects people who haven't gone through puberty a.k.a. 4th graders. The infected; diseased by tainted chicken nuggets, quickly take over the school. In a day's time the nation is quickly over-run with the prepubescent dead. Played very tongue in cheek this zom-com stars Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, Jack McBrayer, Jorge Garcia & more. A little on the goofy side, but still a solid watch for zombie fans. It's pretty fricking hilarious.

Dead Set the Best Zombie Series that Aired Before The Walking Dead

Dead Setis a British zombie series that aired in 2008 and is currently streaming on Netflix. It’s based on the now thankfully gone Big Brother TV series which actually started in the Netherlands. The premise is the survivors wind up trapped in the Big Brother house when the filming is interrupted by a zombie Apocalypse. The reality actors are unaware of the outside world until studio hand; played by Jaime Winstone, infiltrates the reality show seeking refuge. Things go horribly wrong and the virus makes its way inside the building. It’s from here that the cast and crew fights to survive in the distopian world unfolding around them. This is probably the best zombie series created in its time. Not until 28 Days later was there a film that even stood close to it. Shot dead pan and as terrifyingly real as the Danny Boyle zombie series.

This is a must see for any real zombie fan. Dead Set Cast
