the amount of positive reactions i've seen to those little 10 seconds of tom's acting is insane, it honestly makes me happy that people are blowing it out of proportion since maybe they've never seen anything of tom's apart from marvel, there's a film critic who is very famous on tiktok and when he talks about tom he doesn't do it in a good way but this time he said "the most surprising is that tom gave a great acting" it made me angry and there were a lot of comments defending that tom has always been a good actor he just chooses bad projects lol (on the bright side of this is that most people's reaction is positive but it bothers me because i don't consider his previous works bad)

Anyway, I love seeing how 10 seconds of video made everyone chokehold

I am scared for the discourse this movie will create and what filmtwt will say about Tom

i mean filmtwt will start discourse over anything lmao. and some film “critics” love to appeal to that discourse and stoke the flames with their chronically online takes so yeah it’s always a reasonable guess to assume someone will have something negative to say.

i can also see some people potentially start the narrative of “wow tom can finally act with the right director” “nolan helped tom find his range” and it’s gonna irk me when tcr and tdatt and hell even nwh are right there. tom has always been a damn good actor, some people have just been too blinded by online discourse or the critical reception of his projects or their own personal vendetta against him/jealously to see that.

BUT as long as tom gets his flowers and gets the praise that his acting deserves, then i can live with whatever discourse this movie inspires. like if people do start saying “wow tom can finally act with a director like nolan at the helm” it will definitely be annoying and blatantly untrue, but ill take that over “damn tom still can’t act even with a director like nolan at the helm”. like i said before, a win is a win and as a tom fan i’ll take whatever wins we can get 💀

maybe…but there are official photos from the nwh press tour, tcr premiere, and the cca red carpet where tom looks mature enough that they could have used instead. i’m sorry but that photo is just not flattering at all, and the pessimistic part of me thinks it was done on purpose (or at the very least op didn’t care enough to bother finding a good photo)
