In the hush that follows, their hand finds yours between the grass, fingers sliding into place like they were always meant to. “We should stay here forever,” they murmur, eyes flicking from your mouth to your eyes and back again, like they can’t decide which part of you they need to memorize first. They shift, propping themselves on one elbow so they can lean over you.
They kiss you like they’ve got nowhere else to be, like the world paused just for this. And when they finally ease away, it’s not distance; they never really leave. Their lips ghost against yours one last time, reluctant to let go, before they press their forehead to yours with a tenderness that steals your breath. They whisper your name like it means something holy, and you know you're right where you belong.
This is what home feels like, when it has a heartbeat.
