𓂃 Comforting Presence ⸝⸝ ⟢

​The rain was tapping a relentless, messy rhythm against the window, matching the chaotic hum still buzzing in your head. You were just sitting on the floor, back pressed against the side of the bed, staring at nothing and trying to finally unwind.

​Your F/O didn't ask what was wrong when they walked in. They just quietly sank down onto the carpet right next to you, their shoulder brushing yours.

​Slowly, without a word, they reached over and gathered both of your hands in theirs. Their palms were incredibly warm, a stark contrast to how cold your fingers felt. They didn't squeeze tightly; they just threaded their fingers through yours, slowly mapping out the lines of your hand with their thumb, over and over, until the tension in your shoulders finally gave way.

​When you turned your head to look at them, they were already watching you.

​They lifted your joined hands and gently rested their forehead against the back of your knuckles. They stayed like that for a long moment, breathing with you, letting the quiet of the room slowly crowd out the rest of the world. It felt entirely deliberate, like they were letting you know that whatever pace you needed to go at, they were perfectly content to match it.

​When they finally looked up, they reached out with their free hand to gently cup the side of your face, their palm tilting your head just enough to catch your gaze.

​"Hey," they murmured, the sound so soft and laced with absolute devotion it made your chest ache.

​You let out the first real breath you’d held all day, leaning your full weight into their touch. The chaos outside didn't matter anymore. You just stayed there on the floor, anchored by them, completely safe.

there's something so beautiful about the sheer variety of characters that people will selfship with. popular characters, unpopular characters, ocs, silly little guys from obscure old cartoons or games, even dudes from commercials???? like

UHMMMM HELLO.

I realized it's been like? A year??? Since I opened this blog and I wonder how that's possible. PLUS LOOKED AT MY FOLLOWERS AND HOW IS IT ALMOST 200.. I didn't even remember having more than 80

...so, about the blog itself..

I spent months trying to open tumblr and nothing was working.

Like, I got so discouraged I deleted it completely. Today I randomly used a VPN and now it's working.

I REALLY want to come back SOOO BADLY 😭😭😭 I have so much to say, to share and post even though my creativity comes and goes a lot these days.. I missed this blog so much 🙏🏻 I've never talked with lots of people here but it really was a comforting place for me. I will absolutely be back as soon as possible.

Hi, I really like the selfship community from what I know of it, but that's not a lot.

One of my main questions is how do you interact with your f/o directly? Do you write fanfiction, RP, daydream, or are they an actual presence you can interact with?

I'm sorry to just come on your blog and ask this, but I'd rather do that than trust what Google (eugh) has to say. I haven't seen anyone actually explaining it yet. If you take the time to answer, tysm!

Hello!! What I can tell you is that it's different for everybody, and there are certain things I myself struggle to understand. However,

I personally interact with them through working on my self inserts' lore, occasionally making art, and writing little drabbles or full on scenarios of me and my f/o's. I have fun letting out some creativity while also developing my relationships in the way that feels right.. because I just know what we'd be like if we could be together, so I write it all down. Our interactions are the ones I have in my works and, yes, also my daydreams.

Other people may create art more often, commission artists or writers, or even buy merch. I have figurines (and toys) of some of my f/o's, and it feels good even when I'm indulging in "childish" things such as simple play pretend - just to make our relationship come to life however I can.

However, some interact with their f/o's directly. You've probably heard of shifting realities, right? That's what many of us do. Two years ago I also discovered the term "cosmabonding" which many describe as the opposit of shifting, because you're bringing your f/o's into your world. In both cases, selfshippers are able to talk and hug and hang out with their fictional others face to face. I've tried shifting multiple times years ago, but I never succeeded.

Spirituality can play a big role in the way this community connects with their partners, and it's something that amazes me even though I'm sadly not familiar with these things at all. Your question is interesting because that's one of the most fascinating things in this community!!
