Like the rest of the world I’m truly speechless about the passing of this icon. His guitar playing was beyond words and Eruption was the pinnacle song to learn when you first start playing guitar. I have spent a lot of nights jamming to Van Halen and struggling to capture even a fraction of what Eddie Van Halen was able to do on the guitar. I don’t think anyone could simply understand how one man led and changed a generation of music. So this album has a birthday today. Hard to believe this was released 11 years ago. When I was in high school there was so much hype built up for this album between me and my best friend. We went to Walmart at like 6am the day it released so we could drive around and listen to the album before school started and so we could purchase more Kiss M&Ms so we could eat them while listening to this album. It sounds simple but this time means the world to me and just shows how powerful music is to where it can leave a memory like that in your heart that seems to never fade.
