Phrases I bet were said on the batfamily patrols without context.
Tim in his comm: No. he's not dead- *casually checks Jason's pulse* yeah there's nothing to worry about.
--
Jason nudging a mugger with his feet: He'll live.
--
Dick: No one tells any of this to Batman
Batman, behind him: No one tells what to Batman
Dick:
--
Robin: You said Redhood should stop killing do I look like Redhood to you?
--
Jason: This * shows a pair off rubber bullets to the renchman * were not letal, now this * shows them a pair of real bullets* are.
*reloads*
Jason: Start running.
--
Dick at the comm: What do you mean next to the Batsburguer? I am literally-- Hood. Hood. Jason. sto- STOP SCREAMING AT ME- I am literally- SHUT UP! Jason- I swear to god, I will hang up on you... WE ARE LITERALLY IN FRONT OF THE BATSBURGUER,... What do you mean "what car" what do you think? We're... We're next to - sorry - Next to the old lady behind the drive thru... fuck sake You know what? Just send us your location- Just- Yeah...
Damian, looking at his phone with the location:..... Dumbass you're in the wrong Batsburguer.
--
The signal, making eye contact with the other batkids: I do not know them.
--
Damian Robin: What are you doing in here?
Tim in his civil clothes: Are you serious? This is literally my rooftop. I live in this house.
--
Literally everyone to Oracle: Do NOT call Batman
--
Oracle: I'm calling batman.
--
Batman, clearly lost, lying through his teeth while gripping the batmobile's steering wheel: This is my city, we do not need a map.
--
Jason: Oh my god, you two are such drama queens the kid just dislocated his arm. Hey. Hey Robin. Do that thing you did last time- He's going to be okay. Robin do that thing.
Dick: D-Robin do not-
Batman, at the same time: Robin do not
Damian currently running towards a wall to relocate his arm: *crack.* There. Let's go.
--
Steph: Technically he ran in front of my van so if we're being fair-
--
Robin squinting: ...Is that Harley Quinn in a Batman suit?
--
Harley: This is so unfair! Why he always send the interns to fight me!
Robin Damian, done with her shit: Maybe because you fight like a little boy
--
Spoiler: Yo mama
--
Nightwing: Let's do the flying Robin-
Robin Jason: What do you mean flying Robin? *Nightwing grabs him* WAIT. WAIT. WAIT. NIGHTWING- NIGHTWING YOU MOTHERF-
Jason: Why the fuck does the League have a ‘Flee on Sight, Do Not Engage’ order for me?
Tim: You terrify them
Jason: The Justice League?
Dick: Yeah. A Bat with guns and a willingness to kill is too much for them to handle.
Jason: What a bunch of bitches. Don’t they know I only go after monsters?
Tim: Yeah. But according to the reports, you always look like you want to shoot them in particular when they run into you. No one wants to chance it. See? (Shows footage taken by the Flash when Jason last went hunting through Central City)
Dick: (Peers at picture. Confused.) That’s just Jason’s normal face. Why would they think he wants to shoot them?
Tim: (Deadpanned) Because Jason always looks like he wants to shoot someone.
Based somewhat on that line “death’s cold embrace/the eternal sleep”, like when Danny, through whatever reasons you decide, came to DC universe and the different dimension stuff + half dead nature = energy drained Danny, who fell asleep without meaning to at the worst or best of times.
Imagine big, strong Red Hood got ambushed by a gang but got saved by a small, Batman’s adoption bait kid who just beat all the bad guys’ ass with a thermos and won. Once he finished, the kid plopped down on Jason like a particularly lazy, sleepy cat and just stayed like that, using the big man as his personal pillow 😆
Maybe Jason brought him back to one of his warehouses but the next morning the kid was gone.
The same thing repeated with the whole other bat siblings and they just plotted to kidnap the kid back to the mansion, for Danny’s own sake of course.
Non Shrike AU content yet again but idea where Danny takes on being a superhero more or less out of Amity Park once he’s slightly older. Danny continues to go by Phantom. He’s a sudden unknown with a rogue gallery who seems to follow him no matter how quickly he travels from city to city. The destruction that follows him is hard to notice and as a result the Justice League attempts to intervene but it’s leaving them questioning who exactly this new hero (or foe) is. He is able to go toe to toe with some of the veteran League members until he usually realizes he can’t exactly win against them (experience vs. raw power doesn’t always work in his favor) and runs away. The League is trying to get a grasp on his powers and abilities and in the end, since he doesn’t seem fond of actually interacting with the League, Danny is deemed a threat. It’s especially concerning when some members spy him lingering on the edges of Earth’s atmosphere star gazing.
Danny views the situation differently, he’s trying to contain ghosts appearing from an influx of natural ghost portals throughout the country while juggling being a freshman in university. His goal is get them under controlled as quick as possible, no time for banter, no time to interact with the local heros. He has a job to do. However when the Justice League starts coming after him he believes they realize he’s a ghost/part ghost and trying to detain him under the ecto acts. He’s terrified and views them as a threat so of course he’s going to fight them if they try to get to close.
Danny is eventually captured by Superman after a rogue battle in Metropolis that was extremely difficult so having Superman come in directly after was a losing battle from the start. He’s taken to the Watch Tower and given cuffs and a collar that blocks/dampens meta abilities and it manages to actually work on Danny. He refuses to cooperate with any members who try to question him since it’s pointless to fight against them now that he’s captured. Danny views himself steps away from being fully dead as he believes the Justice League will hand him over to the Men in White once they’re finished with him.
GUYS. There is a Lazarus Pit somewhere in the BATCAVE.
So. Apparently at some point. Bane and Batman (probably not together? I'm sorry I'm just going off of a wiki) were both going around destroying Lazarus Pits.
ONLY.
Batman eventually found out that the Lazarus Pits are actually needed to keep the world stable. You can't destroy them all. That's bad. Very bad.
And so he decided to create his own and where would he put said pit? In the safest place he knows.
The Batcave.
Because he knows that's like the one place that Ra's will never get to so therefore The Demon Head will never use it.
But like can you imagine the DP X DC possibilities?!?!
Like what if the person who told Batman that destroying all the Pits was bad was the Ghost King?
What if Danny was the one who helped Batman to pick out a safe location in the Batcave as well as design the holding area for the Pit/Portal so that it would remain stable and be unlikely to hurt any humans?
What if the increased ectoplasm in the area makes the Batfam more liminal?
What if the increased ectoplasm in the air allows certain ghosts (Bruce's Parents, Dick's Parents, etc) to become more visible?
What if, depending on the timeline of just when the Gotham Lazarus Pit is created, if it was created sometime after Jason's death but before his revival....it's ectoplasmic presence helps to fully revive Jason. He forms a core in the coffin. His mind returns to him without the LoA having to get involved. He instinctively uses ghost abilities to escape from his grave without having to dig his way out. He returns to his family.
What if the Pit was created while Jason was with the League. And he's dealing with corrupted ectoplasm from that Pit. But when he finally finally ends up in the Cave (maybe he's severely injured and has to stay there for a while?) the pure ectoplasm in the Cave helps to filter out the corrupted stuff and helps him form a core then?
What if Jason feels like he can never go home because he's been replaced, he has too much blood on his hands....and yet the moment he steps foot in the cave or steps foot in the manor he feels like he's come HOME. And he has no idea why he feels so safe and protected there and why it's so difficult for him to want to leave when he's HOME until a while later when he finally discovers the presence of the Pits.
What if Batman created the Lazarus Pit on his own and he or some other family member accidentally becomes a Halfa in the process?
What if Ghost King Danny feels the presence of a new connection to Earth opening up and goes to investigate and discovers the Batfam?
What if Phantom (injured maybe, possibly in desperate need of a new haunt) comes through the portal/pit after they're created and feels the presence of another halfa (jason) or else feels a 'connection' to the Batfam in some way and ends up making Gotham his new home? (Found Family AU)
Also. Like. Could you imagine the freak out that Batman would have the first time an actual ghost came up through the pit? And if said ghost wasn't Phantom? Like nothing in his research mentioned creatures emerging from the pit itself! What is he to do?!
He created the pit in the cave to keep it safe from Ra's but he had no idea that the pits would come with their own 'problems.' And now suddenly there are these beings from the Infinite Realms hanging around the cave and he's desperately trying to research just who these beings are and what they're capable of and trying to find contingencies just in case they're more evil than gremlins. Plus HOW does he keep them from entering the cave itself?!
Imagine Technus messing with the technology in the cave. Skulker borrowing weapons to augment his suit. Johnny taking the Batfam's various motorcycles out for a spin.
Like...guys. There are soooooo many possiblities. So many.
John Constantine fucked it up, Clockwork is happy with the result.
It's no secret that John Constantine sells his soul a lot, and that he's made dubious deals, it's his specialty after all. So it was no surprise when he offered his first born child to multiple entities as part of various deals, in his opinion there was no risk, it was impossible for a baby to be born because of him.
So when Clockwork witnessed a drunken Constantine offer up a newborn as payment for breaking the rules of time travel he just shrugged, he knew the British wouldn't even remember that specific deal and his job was to find the better timelines, the Flash Family sure is going to be his future headache.
Clockwork was pretty sure a child wouldn't be born anyways, the chances were too small; For once, Clockwork was wrong, he didn't know how to feel when little Daniel was born to one of Constantine's many exes, the woman seemed honestly devastated, she wanted to give the child a good life but didn't know how.
It seemed that she was about to call John, her hands trembling as she tried to remember the number, but before she could break the news the baby disappeared from her arms, vanished as multiple laughs were heard in the hospital room. The woman immediately understood and started cursing the bastard of her ex for being so stupid as multiple contracts with the idiot signature materialized in her hands.
Clockwork began to consider his options as he stood in the center of a room with all the contractors, he could fight for the baby, he was an Ancient, but what was the point? He looked at the baby, waiting for a signal to tell him what to do; the baby stopped crying and looked at his multiple watches, laughing with joy.
And then he saw it, the possibilities that before were almost zero began to show themselves, the multiple futures of the boy: celebrations, tears, laught, the painful part? Clockwork was in all of them.
Even when he didn't directly raise him he was always there, he could see that the boy loved him and he loved him back. Time made a mistake and fall in love with the concept: permanence, family, home, that baby was everything so he made his decision.
Without much trouble he fought against all the entities, many could call him a cheater but he didn't care, time was his domain.
With Daniel in his arms he carried him to his haunt, avoiding the gaze of the observants, the baby laughed as his core purred "Welcome home, Danny" he whispered watching as the blue eyes fixed on him.
It didn't take a couple of days for Clockwork to decide to break his contract, he couldn't care less about Constantine and he hated the idea that Daniel belonged to him like an object of some kind, however he couldn't destroy the damn thing until he was sure that all the other contracts were burned (and he made sure of it)
At the end of the week his baby officially belonged to him, Constantine was really an idiot for giving the precious boy in his arms to the worst people. Frostbite and Pandora approved but they were worried.
"He is a human child Clockwork, you know we don't doubt you, but he can't grow up in the realms, you can't run away from the observants and steal human food forever" Frostbite told him.
"He is officially yours, but you need to let him go until the right time" Pandora said, she knew she might be sounding harsh, but she needed to make him understand.
Clockwork was very aware, every time he pointed out a star to Danny from his screens, every time he wrapped his cape around him, every time he kissed his forehead, he knew he had to let the baby go, that the Fentons had lost a baby and would be willing to take care of him.
Hell, he knew he could take care of the child and infiltrate the damn house but how long would it be until he could hold his baby again? hug him? it was undoubtedly painful to know the future but to live in the present, having to do the things that hurt most.
So he did, leaving Daniel (Danny, he'd like to be called Danny in the future) with his star blanket wrapped around him, he kissed the boy's forehead, and placed a bright green note in his basket "His name is Daniel, take good care of him please, and take him to the moon since i couldn't do it -CW", with one last look he sighed as he returned to the Zone
"Everything is as it should be" he said, watching Daniel with his time screens.
He didn't leave it like that, the Fentons were honestly very distracted, pretty bad parents if he was being honest but for some reason he knew Danny would love them.
So he took it upon himself to fill in the missing details: an anonymous birthday present, a hot meal, a recipe book, glowing stars, little aids that only the children noticed. Jasmine was quite grateful to him for that.
What if there were nights where Danny fell asleep with a voice singing to him? Or if the sound of the clocks calmed him down? It was his business at the end of the day.
The years passed, inevitable things happened that the master of time himself refrained from preventing (His baby had to die, fate was very cruel to return the boy to him in that way).
Clockwork congratulated himself for not speaking to the boy until he overheard the Observants talking about killing his son and panicked, eventually introducing himself and trying to stay calm while helping with "The Dark Dan Incident"
It was a tough trip, filled with many cardiac attacks and the desire to choke ghosts (but he had to remember that Danny needed those experiences, it was for the best), there were also threats towards Frostbite when he saw the rural paintings, at least both the Yeti and the Goddess kept quiet about the adoption.
He really didn't want to scare Danny by saying "Hey, your biological dad sold you to me and I owned your soul until I decided to adopt you but couldn't talk to you until now, surprise"
So he maintained his cryptic attitude towards the boy until much later (he also enjoyed being cryptic), when he nearly fainted upon realizing that Danny's core had adopted him as a mentor and father. The guy himself was embarrassed to admit it confessing asking Frostbite about it.
To explain it better he advised Danny to ask his parents about his adoption, the boy seemed confused but agreed. Clockwork wasn't surprised when the boy appeared in the tower a few hours later, teary-eyed and a familiar green note in hand.
You see, contrary to popular belief Danny was aware that he was adopted, his parents didn't try to hide it, quite proud of that fact, but whenever he asked about his biological parents they shrugged without knowing what to say.
Clockwork's request was strange so he decided to ask one more time, his parents told him again about the night they found him, when they took out a green note claiming it came with his basket; he took it in hand, the color, the letters and the writer of the note were obvious, but they parents affirmed they had no idea who C.W was.
With a thank you and a farewell he returned to the realms, the note trembling in his hand as he asked for answers. And he received them, Clocky looked heartbroken by his distrust, but he explained everything that happened from his birth to the present.
Suddenly everything made sense to Danny: the watches, the food, the gifts his parents claimed they hadn't bought, the singing; Clockwork had taken care of him the best he could, but he couldn't do much trapped under the observants control, he frowned at the last part but ended up hugging his father.
Ironically, that was also the day Danny decided to hate his biological father, John Constantine was a bastard who would only give him paperwork, and he had sold him! To multiple entities! If it wasn't for Clocky he'd be even more dead!
When Danny finally turned 18 and was officially declared Ghost King, his life became a thousand times easier and a thousand times more difficult.
On one hand he had managed to remove the observants who now worked for Walker, and he had managed to free Clocky, on the other hand, he had a thousand responsibilities fallen on his shoulders and he felt tired just thinking about it.
Declaring Clockwork his adviser was a good idea, although he always ended up pouting when he asked him if he wouldn't wish to be king in his place, Clocky was the king's father, shouldn't he be king instead? The master of time just laughed and shook his head, telling him to go back to his paperwork.
The days locked in his office with the thousands of papers in the name of John Constantine only increased his resentment towards his biological father, months in which he had to request a time out just to review a specific section.
————————
It was a normal day after a routine visit from Jazz and Dani when Danny was summoned, his pleasant evening with Clocky (and yes, he could call him dad many times but the nickname just stuck) was interrupted when he felt the summon, he gave a sigh of suffering asking his father if he would come along, he just shrugged as Danny disappeared.
On the other hand, the Justice League was tense, someone had warned about the release of Kronos in the world and Diana couldn't be more worried, they contacted Justice League Dark and they confirmed the presence of multiple gods of time being released.
It was Constantine who offered the solution to summon the Ghost king, if many of those entities were "dead" he should have control over them; And since it was rumored that he was a new king, they might have a chance to strike a deal.
The problem was that the result of the summon was a boy with Lazarus green eyes who stepped out of the circle, directing his hateful eyes towards Constantine, Danny would recognize the bastard anywhere, he had asked his dad to show him.
At first Batman assumed that the color of his eyes meant that the boy was induced by the same anger as Jason, this seemed to be reaffirmed when he spoke trying to remain calm "Why did you summon me, father?" was the boy's cold question.
Constantine seemed to be going through eight stages of duel in seconds as the League came to a standstill, Zatanna shot an incredulous look at her partner as a crown of ice and a white ring materialized on the boy, who crossed his arms.
The objects at least affirmed that this was the king they were looking for. Danny sighed and managed to calm down, this really was an unpleasant revelation, out of pettiness he cast his icy gaze at Constantine, freezing his feet to the ground.
It was then that Wonder Woman stepped forward, Batman was evaluating the entity next to her, even though he was calm his eyes remained the same, he had to reconsider his initial observations "Your Highness, we are here for a request"
"And what would that request be?" Danny questioned with boredom, once he had decided to ignore the Constantine in the room he simply put his mind in treat this as a business meeting.
"We have heard rumors about the release of Kronos along with multiple time entities, we fear that he is planning something against you or us" spoke the princess "We wanted you to confirm those suspicions and if they are true, help us stop them"
Danny frowned "His release doesn't concern you, even less if it's in my domain" he spoke seriously, he remembered that Clocky had told him that his lack of "management" by the observants could be read badly for the other realms, he knew that could include being confused for different entities, his father had many names at the end of the day.
"Your Highness, excuse the rudeness but I don't think you understand the seriousness of the matter" Diana said annoyed by the lack of reaction.
Danny just sneered "I think I totally get it, your sources are wrong, if they are free or not, they are not planning anything"
"I don't think it's your place to make such statements." Superman frowned.
"Oh really? I think it's my place to know if my dad is planning something" he let that revelation stay in the minds of the heroes, he wondered how many times they would be surprised in a day
"Sorry, I thought Constantine was your father?" Flash asked, sounding concerned.
"Constantine is my biological father, yes, however Kronos or whatever you call him is my adoptive father, he taked care of me since I was a baby" the halfa rolled his eyes.
"That's not possible, Kronos has been dead for a long time" Zatanna was worried by that new information.
"You have a God on your team and you wonder if it's possible to totally kill them? Because most of the time the answer is no" Danny shrugged.
"But he was trapped" Diana was sure of that.
"Yes, he was" Danny spoke, resentment ringing in his voice "I released him"
"Are you out of your mind!?" Green Lantern yelled, forgetting he was in front of a King "He obviously planned that, he probably plans to conquer the world!"
"Have you considered that he might be manipulating you?" questioned Batman with a soft voice.
"He's not manipulating me and he couldn't care less about the world, if he really wanted it he'd have it in seconds" Danny bristled at the calming victim tone and the sad eyes around him, honestly they were stupid, If Clocky wanted to rule the world, he would let it be instead of looking for a better future for everyone.
"Okay, everyone calm down, it's obvious that if he've been with him since he was a baby his influence has reached far, we should try to separate them and connect him with his biological father, everything will be fine son" Superman nodded.
"My son isn't going with some idiot wizard with no appreciation for his own soul" the topic of conversation in question appeared next to Danny, at the most dramatic moment possible.
Danny was about to yell at the heroes to stop treating him like a victim or a child when his dad put a hand on his shoulders, clearly trying to calm him down. He sighed and lunged at Clocky, hiding inside his cloak.
"Kronos what are you planning?" Diana spoke resentfully "manipulating a child is going too far"
"I was planning on enjoying tea at our house before some idiots decided to play being God" Clockwork rolled his eyes "And as much as it pains me to say it: Danny stopped being a child a long time ago, in case you forgot it he's a king, the king of all the dead and a god of his own"
"Is this your plan? become the King of the dead? Because you're not going to get away with it" Diana asked, suspicious.
"Do you have selective hearing? Cause I would love for dad to be king in my place but he really doesn't want to" Danny snorted "And since you're not going to treat this meeting seriously we're leaving, as much as I love the space this is really ruining it for me"
"You can not go away! You have to let us help you" Flash yelled worried.
"No, you don't have the right to decide that, so I'm going to go back home, drink my tea and make cookies with dad while you guys figure out how to thaw that bastard over there" Danny finally pointed at Constantine shivering in the cold as he looked at him in shock, Clockwork laughed at his side.
"I'd say it was nice to meet you, but it wasn't, don't expect much help from the dead, we're really not in the mood; go over tips on treating royals properly next time" Clockwork said a last goodbye and left.
Both the King and the God of time disappeared with the circle, along with the materials to perform the ritual; it seemed like they really didn't want to be contacted again
"That really didn't turn out as we expected" Billy muttered, he hadn't wanted to talk during the meeting because he didn't consider that either of the two beings was lying. They looked like father and son, just tired and fed up.
"We will have to evaluate this new threat, it is impossible that his words were completely true, Constantine, find out why that boy hates you so much" Batman ordered.
"I sold him" The hellbazer whispered.
"Sorry, what?" Zatanna stopped what she was doing.
"He hate me because I sold him" John passed his hands over his eyes "I didn't even consider this possible, I'm not supposed to have fucking kids, now it makes so much sense why she's avoiding me"
"She?" Superman asked
"Yeah, one of my exes tried to kill me, she keep yelling about me being an idiot and underestimating the consequences of my acts, I thought it was something normal, you know? I should have known better" He shrugged, the ice had melted but the cold stayed in his bones.
Batman took a deep breath, trying to calm down and not kill the man on the spot. "Who did you sell him to?"
"Many entities" Constantine bit his lip, embarrassed "could have sold him to Kronos for everything we know"
"You are a complete asshole and I understand why the boy does not want to see you" Zatanna spoke completely tired.
"So Kronos can own him for all we know? that's just awful" Diana was disgusted.
"It wasn't supposed to happen, evading contract liability is my specialty not dealing with the consequences" Constantine was stressed.
"This got much more complicated, we'll see how to break your son's contract and separate him from Kronos, maybe you can fix things after that" The dark knight spoke, he hated magic.
Billy refrained from mentioning that Kronos and the King didn't seem to be under a contract, or whatever his teammates were thinking, they looked like family, which for an orphan is pretty obvious.
But he knew that his companions wouldn't take his remarks seriously, so he just sighed in resignation. Maybe the League will remember that those two were from another dimension and royalty that they shouldn't anger, he really hopes they will remember soon.
For their part, Clockwork and Danny returned to their Tower now located next to the palace, deciding to prepare cookies for the visit of Sam & Tucker, one of the time screens was next to them, showing the League discussing the supposed problem.
Danny was quite annoyed that they were deciding things for him and calling his father bad but Clockwork brushed it off, they wouldn't get very far with the palace guards if they even managed to find a portal to the Realms, or even get to the palace itself.
So I've seen a lot of "Jazz works as a therapist at Arkam" in the dp x dc fandom, and while I like the concept, I also feel like Jazz would take one look at the place and immediately be like "what the absolute fuck" at just the everything of the place.
Like, she either nopes out after the tour during the interview or quits not too long afterward starting there, not because she can't take it but because she's so appalled by what's going on there and can smell the corruption rolling off the place and knows no one sent to there is ever actually going to get the help they need.
So Jazz decides to open a private practice instead while still being absolutely determined to work with the various rogues in the city, she is here to help and nothing is going to stop her.
So she just starts showing up at known hangouts of rogues and during their heists/schemes/sprees, and even fights between them and the batfam, just like
"Hi! It’s so nice to meet you! My name is Dr. Jasmine Fenton/Nightingale/whatever last name she’s using and I was hoping we could talk!"
Casually kicks a baterang away without looking because she's being polite and professional!
"I understand that your experience with therapy through Arkam has been nothing but atrocious and that you are rightfully -"
Kicks Batman away without breaking eye contact or a sweat.
"Suspicious of attempting therapy again, and Idon't want to force anything on you, therapy should be on your terms after the experiences you've had but -"
Grabs Robin out of the air as he leaps at the rogue she's talking to and tucks him under her arm, ignoring his feral hissing and all attempts to break her hold.
"-I really think that you'd find it beneficial, even if I'm not the right therapist for you."
The rogue in question is having the time of their life and takes Jazz's business card - and a few extra to pass around - not really intending to actually ever book a therapy appointment with her but way too entertained and excited to share this madness with everyone else.
But then one of the rogues actually looks up Jazz's website and sees all the various safe guards she’s put in place to ensure that any villians that come to her will be protected while seeing her - soundproof therapy room, regular sweeps for listening and tracking devices, the most insane firewalls and protections anyone has ever seen on her network, and ooh she provides snacks and drinks!
So someone finally books an appointment with her, half convinced she's either going to turn them in or is a villain herself intent to experiment on them, but then it’s actually really nice??? And they feel a lot better afterwards?? She doesn't even say anything to indicate that she wants them to stop being villains, she just wants them to be okay??
So more and more rogues start going to her, and Batman was already losing his mind about this woman before - Oracle can't hack her system?!? And her background check shows a totally normal Psychiatrist?? - but now half of Gotham's heavy hitters and a dozen or so other minor league villains are seeing her regularly and every time he tries to get info on any plans the rogues might be scheme via her office it fails utterly. Nightwing got knocked out with something called a creep stick and when he tried to break in himself to get answers she just appeared out of no where and gave him the most scathing lecture about doctor-patient confidentiality before bullying him off her property and threatening to sick her brother on him if he tried again?
And because she's become such a figure in the Gotham underworld, she gets the attention of Joker.
And everyone, rogues and Bats alike, are terrified that she’s going to try and take him on as a patient like she has so many other villains in the city and that's just a recipe for tragedy.
But then the Joker is on his way to the hospital with two broken legs and the fear of god beat into him babbling about eldritch nightmares and whenever anyone asks Jazz what happened she just shrugs and just says things like "I refused him as a patient, he's not my problem." Or "My brother doesn't like clowns." And just, does not elaborate.
Batman is losing his mind over it all. Jazz is just happy to be able to actually help the rogues. Arkam is less happy about how she absolutely destroys their reputation.
I like how most dpxdc fics where the league straight up kidnaps Phantom to interrogate him don't include Martian Manhunter bc he could just read Danny's mind and be like "y'all are terrorizing a child🤨" also y'know my boy would not stand for them Anti Ecto laws and would side w/ Danny
Tim finally admitted that blobs are real. Now he doesn't know what to do. The blobs continue to cuddle him, but he just sits there staring blankly. Tim felt overwhelmed and confused, as he had been denying the blobs' existence for so long. Now that he had acknowledged their presence, he was unsure how to approach them and if they could even understand him.
He starts to pet one of the blobs, and for the first time, he hears something from them. It is a very quiet but noticeable sound. It sounds similar to a cat's purr, but it's a little different. He looks at them in awe and wonders as he pets them again, and the sound gets louder. He is surprised and excited, as he has never heard a sound like this before.
"Are they some kind of alien animals? Can they smell out certain things like dogs?" The blob also knew he was looking for the rest of the body and had been able to find it.
"Did they imprint on me? Is this some kind of supernatural stuff? Did I sell my soul by speaking to them?"
Tim panics, but after a few deep breaths, he calms down. "Let's not go down the rabbit hole."
He continues petting the blob until he suddenly realises that the sun has risen, flooding the apartment with light.
He has work to do, and with difficulty, but he stands up and goes to wash up. The blobs follow him.
"Yeah, no, if you want to stay, you are not going to follow me to the shower." Tim will not take a shower while some aliens watch him. Tim was determined not to let these strange blobs invade his privacy, so he told them firmly to stay put.
Hearing this, the first blob — he really should name them — seems to sulk. The second blob just goes back to the living room.
He begins to watch the blobs at work, what they do, and how other people act around them. He first notices that the first blob is primarily with him and that the second blob is trailing the first.
Thinking about them like that is exhausting. He should give them names. Floating green blobs. “Hmm. What about Bob?” No, he has a knack for giving things names. He'll come up with cute names for them.
The people around him can't see them, but if the blobs get close, they sometimes feel them. Some people flinch or shiver; some look behind themselves.
Tim, after many names, makes a decision. Verde will be the first one, and Neo is the second name.
He nods and starts working again. Everyone around him looks at him as if he's strange. Tim is oblivious to the stares, seemingly in a trance-like state as he focuses on the task at hand.
"What's up with him?" murmurs one of them.
"Nobody knows, something's up since yesterday." One of the workers mumbled back. They had all noticed a difference in their boss's behaviour. They eventually go back to their work. As the day wore on, the confusion only grew.
Fortunately, Tim doesn't have any important work to do today. Despite the chaotic atmosphere in the office, Tim had a peaceful day. The day passed quickly.
That night, Tim found himself in the same place: staring at the blob in front of him while dressed in his uniform.
Verde stayed at home. Tim feels weird about that but tries not to think about how he left it alone at home. Tim was used to the lonely feeling that enveloped him, but this time, he felt a little bit of guilt for leaving his companion behind.
He shakes his head. "Okay, so you can understand me," he says, nodding and placing a hand on his hip "So can you lead me to the other body parts?"
Neo immediately starts moving, not waiting for Tim this time. He leads Tim through the city until they arrive at an abandoned building.
Tim follows and soon finds himself before a wall. Neo passes through the wall, but as Tim is a normal… almost normal human, he can go through solid objects.
Tim looks around for a way to go, but it's a dead end.
The blob was back before Tim could do anything and stared curiously at him. If it could speak, it would say, "Why are you not coming?"
Tim feels silly but tries to explain, "I can't go through walls."
Neo makes a surprised noise while unmistakably considering something. Tim almost goes back, but Noe latches onto his shoulder, and Tim feels a weird sensation going through his body.
He needs some time to compose himself before turning to face Neo "What was that for?"
Neo responds by glancing at the wall. Tim snorts and blinks He says, "I will not suddenly become intangible just because you are here," but he reaches for the wall.
He watches as his hand passes through the wall with wide-open eyes.
"You made me intangible," he whispers in awe.
He toyed with the notion. Red Robin intangible hero. He considers how much he could accomplish in this way, including helping the cases, engaging in combat, and even pranking his brothers. He has a million questions; he is so engrossed that he forgets why he is here.
Looking at the blob, he opens his mouth to question it and sees the blob's effort.
"Oh, you can't do it for long?" Even as he asks, he finally moves through the wall. He finds himself in darkness. From his unity belt, a spotlight emerges. His eyes are immediately fixed on a hand.
"So you really can lead me to the body parts," he said as he moved closer to the hand. "Good job"
Neo preens at the praise. Tim notices that the fingers on the hand are missing. " Bloody hell, it will take forever to find all the parts. How will I find the killer at this rate?" He doesn't count on an answer.
Neo makes a new sound, one Tim hadn't heard before, and moves in circles.
Tim needs to consider the potential causes of this response.
"It means you could lead me to the murderer?" Neo makes a gesture that clearly indicates "yes" while not appearing to notice the irritated tone.
"You could have done that before I followed you through the city for hours." Tim made an angry statement.
The blob simply appears perplexed, like a dog. " I did what you asked me; did I do something bad?"
Tim can't stay mad at something so cute.
He breathes out, then starts to look for a way out. He notices a hole above the hand that was obviously dropped from there, but it is too small for a person to fit through. He doesn't notice any other way.
"It looks like you need to do that thing again," says the blob, who isn’t happy hearing that but goes to Tim.
Now that he is aware of what is happening, Tim pays close attention to the sensation when he becomes intangible. They quickly leave the place.
They end up on a nearby rooftop. "Then now you can lead me right to the murderer," he says, sounding sarcastic as he doubts the blob's ability to do that.
But the blob does just that. After a long time, they approach a place where he remembers leaving one motorcycle.
"It is far?" The blob clearly doesn't know. Tim started to get tired, so they went to get the bike. He can hardly believe it, but there it is, still standing in the exact same spot.
He takes his bike and follows Neo. The house they end up in is in a wealthy neighbourhood. The houses are not as huge as the Wayne Manor, but they are large. Tim was surprised to see the large houses; it was a stark contrast to the neighbourhood they had come from. He didn't think the killer lived there.
The blob leads Tim to a bedroom where a man in his 50s is sleeping. He seems to be the nice old man you sometimes see, a bit fluffy with laugh lines at the corners of his eyes and snoring.
"Are you sure about this?" Tim is doubtful, but Neo is sure about this. Neo is certain about the man's identity; there is no doubt.
Tim sighs and moves, and the man finds himself tied to a chair before he even fully wakes up.
"W-what happening?" stutters the old man, "What d-do you want w-with me?"
Tim wants to end this quickly "I know you killed a man and scattered his body parts. I want to know where they are."
The old man's facade falls for a brief moment before quickly rising again. Tim caught it.
"What do you mean? What man?" The old man's acting is very convincing, but Tim is confined.
"You don't need to act; we have proof that you are the killer." Tim bluffs, hoping for the old man to betray himself. And just as he hoped, the old man's entire demeanour changes.
"Then why am I not in police hands?" The old man smirks evilly.
"I knew you wouldn’t tell the police where and how you killed him. I can be a lot more persuasive," Tim thinks, cracking his knuckles, but instead, he starts to smile icily. He learned this smile from his mother, who could frighten twice as many big men as her with it.
The old man doesn’t seem to believe him, but before Tim can decide how he can make the old man confess, the windows break. Tim flinches and puts his hands up, ready to defend himself. Suddenly, a man appeared in the room, dressed in all black and wearing a hood. He threw a knife into the old man's throat before Tim could stop him. Tim goes to save the old man but realizes it is futile. When he looks up and then out of the window, he can’t see anyone.
Clockwork intervenes in Danny’s life so that he can learn all needs to be the King of the Infinite Realms. Hopefully this time he can be loved and cared for like he deserves.
The weight of monitoring the Time Stream was one Clockwork would never wish on another being. He had bared witness to horrors that were truly beyond the comprehension of a lesser ghost. He has seen Pariah Dark slaughter his way across the universe. He had seen Darkseid complete the Anti-Life equation and unmake existence. He had seen a rampaging Doomsday wipe out all intelligent life. All in alternate timelines where a hero had failed
While his power was not absolute, Clockwork’s purpose was to guide the Time Stream away from such calamitous endings. A small nudge of a bullet’s path here, a bomb disarmed at the last second there, a villain taking just a moment longer to monologue somewhere in the middle. Whatever it took to keep the Time Stream on the proper path.
More important than protecting the Mortal Realms, Clockwork focused most of his attention on the Time Stream of the Infinite Realms. The so-called Ghost Zone was connected to an infinite number of dimensions and alternate realities and if the Zone were to collapse, or the Time Stream become marred it would lead to the catastrophic collapse of all other realities until all of existence was unmade.
Vlad finally managed to make a perfect clone of Danny only for Dani to jump in and save the day.
Vlad counters with a strange gun that de-aged Danny and both the clones before promptly destroying said gun so they can't find a way to turn back. The fruitloop locks them in a room, confident in the knowledge that Danny no longer has any memory extending past his current age and Dani has been rendered a literal infant.
Unfortunately for Vlad the kids being half ghosts feel drawn into the ghost zone and just phase through the floor and enter.
They go through portal after portal until they wind up in a new dimension and promptly start living in an abandoned children's hospital (cause why not?) and steal things like blankets and baby formula using thier powers.
Nightwing, who believes there is only one child since they look exactly the same, freaks upon seeing one use an ectoblast, thinking he must have been a Tamaranean like Starfire and followed them home after thier most recent heist of baby stuff and candy
Needless to say he kicks open the doors of the Wayne manor a few weeks later and loudly announced, "I got a three for one deal!!!"
