Interactive Tour & Tokyo

Take an interactive tour of Tokyo! An introduction to the splendours of Tokyo in autumn by a Geisha, or to the excitements of Tokyo in winter by a Harajuku Girl.

Something Cute i ran into that some of yu can try! Plus I got everything sorted so i’ll be posting more often! Yay! random few questions in the virtual slightly interactive tour, and has info/descriptions in the bottom right corner of the tour every so often so yu can learn a little more as well. hey I'm could you mind explaining how conjugation in japanese works?

I believe yu are talking about how Japanese makes the topic of the sentence 1st then a topic maker, then description/details/question/etc., an finally if its a question/has is/and etc.;Example;tomorrow is monday. = ashita wa getsuyoubi desu.ashita=monday,

wa is making that the topic but “wa” actually doesn’t have a real meaning in English, but its kinda like Speaking of (the) or As for (the),getsuyoubi=monday

desu=is desu also doesn’t mean 1 specific word, its like having a sentence that has “is, and, or, etc”

(main topic/subject) + wa -> (topic maker) + (question/description) + (sometimes “desu or ka”)Is that understandable?

thank you, alot of people don’t understand how easily one can come to learn a language.i tend to see that its extremely fun an easy to learn any language.yu can make it even easier an such by putting the word for thing on a sticky note an putting it on that thing/meaning/object. fast way to get it to stick in yur head an use it so it becomes more natural to use.Its even better when yu have friends that support, or try learning it as well an yu can use it together.I apologize, i haven’t had newer posts for quite a while, there have been quite a few things/happenings in my life that have come up.

One of the usual summer activities in Japan is scary story-telling! The “chilling experience” brought by these tales about yōkai (ghosts), sometimes more comical than scary, provides an unusual comfort for the hot weather. One of the famous yōkai of Japanese folktales is the Chōchin-obake (提灯お化け - paper lantern ghost) or more commonly called “Burabura”. “APPEARANCE: When a paper lantern, or a chōchin, reaches an advanced age, it sometimes becomes a chōchin obake. The paper splits along one of its wooden ribs, forming a gaping mouth with a wild, lolling tongue. One or two eyes pop out of the upper half of the lantern, and occasionally arms or legs may sprout from its body as well. BEHAVIOR: Like the karakasa-kozō, it rarely causes physical harm, preferring simply to surprise and scare humans, laughing and rolling its large tongue and big eyes at guests in the home. This phrase is used in a sketch about a badly translated English-Hungarian phrasebook from the British TV comedy show, Monty Python's Flying Circus. There's a video of the sketch on youtube.

Other greetings

ossu (おっす) - hey dude. (used between close male friends) moshi moshi (もしもし) - on phone

ja mata ne (じゃあまたね) - see yu dear

yokoso (ようこそ) - welcome

o genki desu ka　(お元気ですか？) - how are yu?

hai, genki desu. anata wa? (はい、元気です。あなたは？) - yes, I'm fine. How about yu? okagesama de genki desu (おかげさまで元気です) - I'm fine, thank yu.

o hisashiburi (お久しぶり) - long time no see. o hisashiburi desu ne (お久しぶりですね) - it's been a while.

Yoiichinichiwo (良い一日を) - have a nice day oaidekite ureshii desu (お会いできて嬉しいです) - I'm glad to see yu

Yoiryokowo (よい旅行を) - have a good travel

Gokigen yo! (ごきげんよう！) - have a nice day!

"Sayounara （さようなら)" can be used instead of "sayonara （さよなら)." People do not say "sayonara （さよなら）" when leaving their own home. "Ittekimasu（いってきます）" is normally used. The response to "Ittekimasu （いってきます）" is "Itterasshai （いってらっしゃい）". "Dewa mata （ではまた）" is also often used as "see yu later", similar to the English expression.

How about "See yu tomorrow"? "Tomorrow" is "ashita （明日）" in Japanese. Then yu just put "tomorrow"(ashita； 明日) and "see yu"(mata； また) together which is; "Mata ashita （また明日）".

I hope you can practice these greetings. I am going to tell you one more phrase, "Mata raishuu（また来週）". This means "See you next week".

Unlike English, "Oyasuminasai （おやすみなさい） is mostly used before going to bed.

oyasuminasai. （おやすみなさい。） - Good night.

oyasumi (おやすみ) - Night; used with people yu are closer to.

Japanese people greet each other in many different ways depending on the time of day. Some greetings also differ depending on the relationship you have with the person you are greeting, such as the difference between greeting a boss and greeting family.

Ohayou gozaimasu. （おはようございます。）Good morning. Yu can also just say "Ohayou （おはよう）". This is more casual, and should NOT be used with ones boss.

Raised Floors

Raised floors help indicate when to take off shoes or slippers. At the entrance to a home in Japan, the floor will usually be raised about 6 inches indicating you should take off your shoes and put on slippers. If the house has a tatami mat room its floor may be rasied 1-2 inches indicating you should to take off your slippers.

Geisha

Geisha means "person of the arts" and the first geisha were actually men.

Smoking

In Japan non-smoking areas are difficult to find in restaurants, including family restaurants. Many of Japans politicians have interest in the tobacco industry so anti-smoking laws are almost non-existent. But there are various areas in which people go to smoke now.

Exercise

Some traditional Japanese companies conduct a morning exercise session for the workers to prepare them for the days work. There is even a town that has morning exercise sessions brodcasted throughout the town. To be over a sertain age (30, 40 or was 50? i believe it was said one of those) men needed to have waist of 35? and wemon waist of 30? Posabble that backwards... (i'll update things more with documented videos later to state the more "facts" of things instead of going off of bad memmory of mine.)
