Reflecting, I sit dissecting the poetry of my past.

Organic as it is, it is like a blast of stale gas from a painful interval.

Familiar feelings seems slightly distorted by the nightly interludes between the two dudes, me of now and him of then.

The work is good, and I am slightly plagued by jealousy because my writing is stalling,

but the falling in love and hurting because that love drug is not a sustainable addiction was a terrible affliction, which I do not wish to revisit.

blessed are the women that learn to let go, through pain. anger. struggle. blessed are the women who gain strength from internal battles they’ve spent their whole lives fighting because of dark childhoods. blessed are the women who ache & bruise through love because their mothers were consistent with leaving scars on their hearts & their fathers tore down their innocence & made it seem like a work of art. blessed are the women whose unconditional love is made fun of, but continue to show it off & wear their hopeless romantic badges with pride & honor. blessed are the women who are self assured & stand strong in themselves even after being constantly told to lower themselves because that’s “too much woman for anyone to handle.” blessed are the women whose introversion feels like a burden but power through & walk their paths like they’re certain. blessed are the women whose lives depend on a conversation with God hourly. to keep them sane so they don’t become overwhelmed by their emotional pain.

women, no matter our story. our journey. our past. we are blessed.
