Sweet Nightmares Status Update - August 2026

Hello everyone !

So, guess who had a 2 months long episode of "no energy, no inspiration, no motivation" out of nowhere ? Ha, ha ha. May and June were hell. =')

Thank goodness I got my flow back in July ! And now it's official : I have entered the polishing phase of the development ! So much for wishing I'd finish it all before May ends, but perhaps it'll be the case by the end of August ? At least I was right about not being able to release any builds in August, lol.

Sorry for the two months of inactivity, I got hit with a massive episode of "No energy, no motivation, no inspiration" out of nowhere. I'll get into this next time I make a status uptade. (which WON'T be this month. >XP )

Hello everyone !

I have some good news for the development progress ! April has been A GREAT MONTH this year ! I believe this is a first for me since 2020 !

I have officially only 1 location left to work on before starting the polishing phase ! In fact, it's possible that at the time of publication of this update, I'll have started the polishing already !

Sweet Nightmares Status Update - April 2026

Hello everyone !

First progress update for Sweet Nightmares on Itch ! That's cool !

Even though this was not supposed to be the first... I had tried to post here in january but it never got uploaded for some reason. Maybe because I didn't attach it to any of my two games listed ? Oh well anyway.

Because of this I'll go over what I had inteded to post here back in January and how things went the following months.

Ladies, gentlemen and mushrooms, greetings to you !

Happy begining of 2026 !

This post is a look back on what I have been doing in 2025. MOST of it was me working on Sweet Nightmares until the end of the year.

Imbalanced Refuge is a "die and retry" survival horror game with puzzle elements. Each void beings you can encounter will behave differently to what you do or to the ressources you find to try and counter them. Every time you die to void being, you learn more about it. Each time you use an effective ressources on one, the time you need to survive will decrease.

Story:

You are Haz, a luminoid lost in the Void. You have confined yourself in the only safe place you've ever fond : a strange decrepit room where the Smog of the Void vanishes when the candles are lit.

But sometimes, those candles go out. And this is when the Smog comes back, inviting dangerous entities known as void beings into the room.

Your objective is to survive until the candles relight themselves, banishing the Smog. Most of the time, you can only hide... that is if the void beings leave you time to do so. And you might also find some usefull things to use againts them, if you are lucky.

I'll be putting the development of Sweet Nightmares on hold for now. I should be able to go back to it once october's passed and if the Game Jam doesn't drain me too much.

Sorry for the lack of news for two months, I found a small job IRL and I had to put most of my energy in it. I did manage to work on the game, just at a snail's pace. But I am glad about some of the advancements I made !
