For Elain to grow she needs friends who are like what Amren and Mor were to Feyre not the way Gwyn and Emerie were to Nesta .

Let Elain's friends acknowledge that her past actions weren't great , let them call her out whenever she makes a mistake or a bad decision . That's what true friends are , they call you out but are still there for you when you need someone .

Nesta is actively regressing after her book because Gwyn and Emerie tell Nesta that she has nothing to apologise for even when they don't know what she has done . No accountability whatsoever . It's so fake and I'm tired of it being praised .

I know Nuala and Cerridwen will obviously have a different type of friendship with Elain that Mor and Amren had with Feyre but I want the core of their friendship to be the same or similar .

Elain Archeron is not boring. She is not dumb or dull. Elain Archeron is an unknowably powerful Seer. Yes, she loves to garden and bake and read. That doesn’t make her boring or less capable. Feyre sacrificed her life for love. Nesta allows her anger and resentment to control her. Elain is compassionate and kind. She wants to be seen as a fully capable woman who is more than a tool to be brought out when it’s convenient. She also doesn’t need to be protected from everything. Her family all only see her one way. Afraid she’ll break at any moment. Azriel dared to ask her what she wanted and what would help. Yes she was catatonic for a long period but it was Azriel simply sitting with her in her garden and talking to her that helped pull her out of the darkness. Everyone else abandoned her but Azriel didn’t. For all the pretty words and performative concerns, no one bothered to actually listen or help. Femininity doesn’t equal weakness. Neither does a fighting spirit mean strength.

News flash:

Sarah’s friends appreciating art and a character does not make said character the next FMC. Sarah loving the characters she creates does not mean they will all get their own book and romance.

Sarah has written beautiful scenes for Elain that not only build her character, and some people love to pretend don't exist, but that have ultimately changed the fate of the main characters and the war, too:

Convincing Nesta to let Feyre and the fae into the Archeron estate,

Scrying for The Suriel,

Saving Nesta and Cassian's life by murdering the King of Hybern with Truth Teller;

Just to name a few.

So for the people who are so convinced that Elain is some background character with no importance, no relevance, no character development who doesn't even deserve her own book: I strongly encourage you to practice conscious reading because missing all of these and more is actually kind of pathetic.

I say this with love, such a low level of reading comprehension should worry you.

Friendly reminder that Elain has not spoken a word to Lucien since she spoke a single sentence to him in acofas. And she only spoke a single sentence to him in acofas. Two books. One sentence.

If you have read more than more romance series you would see the writing on the wall. It says “these two characters are not meant to be romantic!”

Elain deserves better than a man she doesn’t want to speak to, a man she shrink away from.

Sjm is doing a good job writing about how terrible forced marriage is.

whilst i'm here, i just want to say there is not a shred of evidence in the books to even suggest gwyn and azriel are mates.

azriel demonstrates no mate-like behaviour toward gwyn. there is no evidence to suggest gwyn likes azriel as a mate would.

there's a lot of baseless claims about "mate-language" in this fandom which have been debunked by people far cleverer than i am and even if they weren't

mate-like behaviour takes precedence over "mate language" every single time.

i would argue that azriel has shown more protective instincts over feyre than he does gwyn.

but there's only one person azriel reacts like a mate to, and it's elain.
