Summary: Reader gets in a fight and Sweet Pea doesnât realise it wasnât her fault.
I knew from the start of my relationship with Sweet Pea that it would be very challenging at times.
Iâm aware of the attention other girls have always given him, but I have always and will always trust Sweet Pea.
We decided to spend the night at the Whyte Wyrm (how unexpected, right?), where we have been playing pool and drinking beers.
A newly initiated serpent girl has been particularly annoying and clingy tonight, constantly lingering and trying to join our small, tight-knit group; something Iâm usually okay with, but sheâs been outrageously flirtatious with my boyfriend and it has been quite irritating. Nonetheless I choose to ignore it, be the bigger person.
âI want another beer,â Fangs announces with a slight slur. âHey, Y/N! Next round was on you, yeah?â He smiles hopefully.
âThat is correct. I was ready for another one anyways, Iâll be back,â I say, placing a quick kiss on Sweet Peas cheek. In the corner of my eye I see the new girl roll her eyes and scoff.
I brush it off and wait at the bar to buy four beers.
After a long wait I hear a loud voice speaking to another newly initiated Serpent.
â... and the way sheâs all over her boyfriend is just pathetic. Itâs like she needs everyone to know, like, hunny we get it. And sheâs not even a Serpent yet so why is she even here? Anyways, if only she could see the âfuck-me eyes Sweet Pea has been giving me all night. I wouldnât be surprised if he leaves her for me.â
I walk past her, shoving into her shoulder to make my presence known.
âWhatâs your problem?â She spits as I place the bottles on the pool table for everyone to grab.
âYou are my problem,â I spit back. âYouâre new here so you donât know how this all works, so back off.â I say.
âWhat are you gonna do about it? Huh?â She takes a step, getting in my face.
âJust because youâre a Serpent doesnât mean you get to start fights with whoever, you want. Thatâs not what being a Serpent is about, even I know that!â I say.
She pushes me back, causing me to stumble back.
âYou bitch,â I shout, rage waving through me. Without thinking I lunger at her, laying a punch into her face. We continue to hit each other viscously, I end up on top of her, hitting her, ignoring the crowd around us. A strong arm pulls me back and pushes me out the way, I look up and see that itâs Sweet Pea.
âYou won! Y/N, okay? You won!â Sweet Pea shouts at me. I look down at her, instant regret floods through me.
âIâm sorry,â I whisper.
Sweet Pea helps her up and leads her to a seat where he helps her clean up.
About ten minutes later her comes over to me, anger in his eyes.
âWhat the hell was that?â He asks.
âShe said you had been rude to her all night and you just started the fight for no good reason. She thinks youâre jealous, which is crazy because you know I chose you.â
âWhat? Jealous of what? No, Sweet Pea she-â
âAre you going to treat every new female serpent like this? Cause if you are you may as well just leave now.â He says.
âItâs not that! Sweet Pea will you let me finish-â
Tears well up in my eyes and I push past him, running out into the cold air which stings my open cuts.
I wander the streets of the Southside trying to find my way home. I finally get home, walking past my dad whoâs asleep on the couch. Thank God. I rush to the bathroom where I clean up my cuts and bruises, wincing at the stinging pain.
I have a shower, washing the stench of the Whyte Wyrm off. I put on my comfiest pyjamas and go straight to bed.
The next morning my dad knocks on the door, being a Saturday, Iâm surprised that heâs waking me.
âWhat is it?â I ask, voice croaky with sleep.
âSweet Pea is here to see you.â
âTell him Iâm asleep,â I say.
âY/N?â I hear Sweet Peas voice.
The door cracks open. I pull the sheets over my aching face, not wanting to show Sweet Pea and my dad the bruises Iâm now wearing.
I hear the door close softly, thinking that they left, I remove the sheets for some fresh air.
âShe got you good, didnât she?â Sweet Peas voice is soft as he speaks. He sits on my bed and slowly, gently brushes his fingers on my bruised and swollen cheek.
âAs soon as you left Toni explained everything. I was at the other end of the bar talking with FP and all I saw was you lunging at her. I should have known that you donât start anything unless itâs justified in some way or another. When I helped her clean up she was just talking shit and I worried it was true so I convinced myself it was.
Then you left and Toni explained everything. Sheâs banned from the Wyrm, sheâs pretty much on probation as a Serpent since she seemed to have forgotten some of the laws.
Iâm sorry, Y/N. I donât know what I was thinking. I was just shocked and confused. I promise to never do that again, baby. Never.â
I let out a sigh, âItâs okay, Pea. I just wish you would have let me explain.â I say, sitting up and resting my head on his shoulder.
He wraps an arm around me, pulling me close to his side. âI know, baby. I wish I let you explain.â He pulls me closer placing a kiss on my head.
âAm I forgiven?â I ask.
âOf course you are. I have to admit, you looked pretty hot,â he says with a chuckle.
I roll my eyes and slap him gently.
âDonât be gross,â I warn playfully.
âNever,â he responds with a cheeky grin.
