The fact that Mycroft - always a man of few well-chosen words - makes sure to let Sherlock know in so many words that he’s not angry with him is so dear to me. It means that Mycroft is aware just how much it would affect Sherlock to have disappointed, angered, or let down his big brother. It’s no coincidence that in his mindpalace, we see an angry, mean, adult Mycroft and a terrified, upset, crying kid Sherlock being told off. “No hold on - I really wasn’t” is just his tried and tested method of saying all the wrong stuff in order to avoid the more sentimental stuff. (Both of them do it, all the time.) There’s no way Sherlock is not bothered by the opinion of the man who literally holds court in his mind palace and whom he looks up to. I believe Mycroft’s statement is every bit a relief to Sherlock, no matter what he says.

The fact that Sherlock makes the effort to compile a list even here, on his way to exile and certain death, with no hope of ever seeing Mycroft again, is so demonstrative of all that he keeps on denying. It is done solely to keep a promise, in honour of that promise and a deeply protective familial love, and I think that’s beautiful.

I love seeing other people's ocs and getting snippets of their stories like oh my gosh there's a whole world and narrative in your head that I'm getting a small glimpse into isn't that so cool????

That's why it's so disrespectful when authors of fics receive comments from people who think those stories are written to satisfy them and to their taste. No. It should be appreciated that these people who create character stories let us into their wonderful fictional world. To read their interpretations, their imagination, that's brilliant. To be able to enjoy the imagination of others is a pleasure. If you don't like something in a fic, stop reading or else use your mind to create or to conform. I will always be eternally grateful to the creators of fics for giving new and different lives to my favorite characters.
