hey hi hello folks it is i.

okay so hi. i haven’t been on in forever. i took a long break from tumblr since my life was getting crazy and everything was a little overwhelming. but i’ve got my old personal tumblr up and running and if you wanna come talk to me on there i’m at adobewanknnobi.tumblr.com.  i’m going to leave this blog up, but there’s a 99% chance that i won’t log back on just because i’m not in the same rey writing headspace that i was. but i miss a lot of my friends on here so if you wanna chat hit me up on my personal. i love and miss you all. <3

okay so this has obviously been a long time coming, but i’m putting this blog on a hiatus. i don’t know when - or if - i’ll be back. but from now until the middle of august, i’ve got approximately two free weeks, and even those weeks will be busy. i’ve loved roleplaying with everyone on here, but my muse is gone and with summer coming, i don’t know when i’ll have the time to dedicate to writing rey. 

so yeah.

the tfa main characters as toddlers I have babysat

kylo ren: the toddler who communicates entirely by screaming. you give him your IPhone to calm him down. he deletes all your apps.

finn: the toddler who will accept a piggyback ride from anyone, anytime. he just learned the alphabet song. he is so proud.

rey: the toddler who knows how to climb the stairs (and also the bookcase) but does not know how gravity works. she is one inch away from severe bodily harm at any given moment.

poe: the toddler who wants to go to the train station just so he can watch the trains go by. he subsists entirely on dinosaur chicken nuggets. he waves hello to the trains.

For the first time in who-knows-how-many years, Ben watches the fireworks with rapt attention. He gazes up at the sky, taking in the spectacle wholly and warmly. The big, flower-like bursts of red, orange, gold and white captivate him; he feels like a child again, ducking behind his father’s legs when the booms were too loud, peeking out a moment later when a particularly colorful arrangement would catch his eye. 

And then he looks to Rey, allowing her to serve as the only distraction from this soft, nostalgic moment. 

Why is she thanking him? 

“Huh?” he starts, still lulled into a dreamy daze by the fireworks overhead. “Oh, uh –” he stammers, catching himself “– oh, well, hey. No problem, kid. I figured you might like this.”

It’s true: Ben suspected the whole outing would be pleasing to Rey, if only out of the novelty. The girl is always so responsive to new and exciting things; when one grows up on sand dunes and junkyards, the galaxy proves to be a neverending treasure trove of experiences. 

But he gets the feeling that’s not all for which she’s thanking him.

“Hey,” he says gently. “Y’know – I dunno if I’ve ever told you.” Ben leans back a little on his rickety seat within the boat. “Did I ever tell you – how I got the Falcon? Like, how I got it from my dad.”

Rey ducks her head, hoping that he won’t notice the way that her grin is stretching her cheeks to their limits. It’s dark... Other than the fireworks that are currently painting the starry sky with blues and greens and reds. She looks back up at the sky. There’s a brief pause, a moment of stillness before there’s another spark from across the lake, a boom, and then another sparkling flower. 

“Huh?” She asks, her eyes widening when he mentions his father. For as long as she’s known him, she’s always gotten the feeling that his dad was off limits. And the few times that she’s been around the man, he’s been nice - unless Ben talks or the Falcon is mentioned. 

Then he just gets gruff and usually storms off within a span of a minute. 

“Uh, no, you haven’t,” she finally says, dragging her attention from the colorful explosions to him. His face is lighting up in a blue. It compliments him nicely, she thinks for a second. Rey twists around in her seat to watch him, tilting her head a little. “Kinda figured that the line about you inheriting it was a bunch of shit,” she adds, giving him a faint smile as she reaches out to nudge her foot against his. 

“What’d you do, steal it?”

He smiled easily in return, the gesture coaxed by her own. As far as her question went, the pilot didn’t know what to task her with at all. Right now, there weren’t a use for her extra abilities.  “Well…not really?” A chuckle escaped him at the sudden honesty that’s left his own lips. “You’re not used to just sittin’ tight, are you?” Not that he could blame such feelings. Most of his own missions, the solo ones, were reckless and adrenaline fueled. On journeys like this, one could find himself a bit restless, aching for some kind of rush or excitement. “This is more of, uh…peaceful gesture. I don’t plan on having to run out here to save my life, but I’ve gotta say I feel better knowing you and that saber are here to back me up in case this does go sideways.”

Rey sighed. She hated having nothing to do. It brought back the memories of when she was little, and Unkar would find her skulking around Niima with nothing to do. It only took her a couple of times after the repercussions to start finding something - anything - to do. “I like having stuff to do,” she replied with a shrug. “Besides, I feel a bit useless just standing around. And kind of creepy, following you around like this.” She added that last part with a smirk, nudging her shoulder against his lightly. “You shouldn’t feel that better. I’m still pretty  new with this.” She gave him a sheepish grin, a sudden flurry of nerves rising up in her stomach. He felt better knowing she was around? Kriff, she felt the same about him. If things went south, she’d been hoping that he would save her.

Violet eyes rolled with such fervor they might as well have rolled out of her skull. “Yes, I’ll give it some thought. I promise.” This wasn’t a lie. When Amy was sober again she would revisit the idea and think over the pros and cons with a fresh mind. Even while she was drunk, the idea of being more than friends with Finn was appealing- not that she would outright admit it. So she wondered how she’d feel about the whole thing once the morning came…not that it wasn’t already morning. Amy stretched her arms out in front of her before cracking her knuckles for emphasis. “Yes, yes I would.” She agreed with Rey. The Force user raised her arms up in defense against an imaginary opponent. “Who wants to fight?” She nearly shouted out to no one in the empty kitchen before taking a few swings at the air. “Noooo, I don’t wanna!” The young woman began to protest just like a little kid who was upset about being sent to bed. This was a sure sign that it was definitely past her bedtime. 

Amy tried to listen to her friend without nodding off. Contrary to her protests, she needed her sleep. Amy functioning on less than five hours was not an Amy that people around base wanted to be around. She hadn’t meant to snort, but the sound came out anyway. “Peace is a lie.” She grumbled mainly to herself. “I mean,” The brunette paused, trying to figure out where to go with such a bold statement. “Peace can’t last forever. It’s in our nature as living creatures to always create some kind of conflict or unrest. Would be nice though if everyone could just chill the kriff out.” Amy offered a smile at the Jedi. Rey was much more optimistic than herself,  but that was something she liked about her friend; she always seemed to have hope, even when things were dark and grim. After several silent moments of careful thinking, Amy rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. “I don’t think it’s necessarily weird. I’m sure you’re not the only one who feels that way.” In her mind it was understandable that the other Force user would want someone even as troubled and ruthless as Kylo Ren to find the Light. In a perfect universe even the most despicable beings could atone for their wrongdoings and set things right. But personally, Amy could see no path of redemption for those who chose to commit such dark deeds. Her eyes were unfocused in the direction of the double doors across from them. “Yeah, I wish it were that easy to just come home.”

“Thank you,” Rey replied, giving her a small grin. She was thankful that Amy would at least think it over. She had a feeling that two of her best friends would miss out on a lot of happiness if they let their stubborn heads get in the way of each other. She watched as Amy prepared herself to fight her imaginary opponent, laughing softly. “Alright you, c’mon. Let’s get you back to bed.” She hopped down from the cabinet, glancing around to make sure that everything was cleaned up before wrapping her fingers around Amy’s arm. She gave her a light tug, nodding her head towards the door. “And you gotta keep quiet. The last thing we need is for you to go waking up the entire base.” 

“Okay, so peace isn’t a lie, it’s just not forever,” she argued. Saying that peace was a lie sounded very close to a line of thinking that Rey didn’t want to go down. There was a certain tinge of darkness that lurked in the corners of her mind, reminding her of the power that Kylo Ren possessed. Peace being a lie seemed to mirror some of his thinking. She didn’t want to dwell on that. “I don’t know. I’m pretty sure I’m the only one - or one of a very few - that doesn’t want him dead.” She paused for a moment. “Not that I don’t want him to pay for what he’s done. Justice needs to be served. For - for everyone.” She thought of Han. 

Yeah. Justice needed to be served. 

She hesitated for a moment longer before giving Amy’s arm another tug. “Alright, enough of this dark stuff. Time for bed.”

okay so i KNOW that i haven’t been around much but i promise i will get caught up on sunday. tomorrow is the big wedding shoot and i’m filming alllll daaaaaaaaay. and i’d get to replies tonight, but there was a lot of filming and to be honest i just wanna eat my cadbury chocolate toffee bar and go to bed XD

the reason I don’t like coffee shop aus isn’t that they’re intrinsically boring, because a freaking bagel au could be amusing if approached well, but so many of them are so… peaceful… the characters love their job and have plenty of time to ponder that one attractive stranger that comes in a lot. Listen. This is retail. Person A and person B’s fated meeting is cut short when a pissed off middle-aged lady pushes herself between their eye contact and shrieks at A about how she wants to use a 2-years-old coupon. Someone shat on the bathroom ceiling. There’s a random sanitary inspection. B knows full well the bagel they just sold to the guy who is always rude fell on the floor three hours ago. A and B have their first real heart-to-heart at 11 pm while on their knees and scrubbing the floor. Where are my #realistic coffee shop au deconstructions, sanitized, idealistic portrayals of retail are soothing but setting revisionism cannot fight off the all-engulfing darkness when a customer hands you a 100$ bill at 8 am to pay for a 1.95$ item

Amy never did tell Finn exactly what was going through her head the moment before he had entered her cell. How could she? She would run the risk of another evaluation from the base doctors and if they had any inclination that her state was worsening, she’d be hopped up on drugs and other treatments. Things that would impair her judgment, and she couldn’t have any of that now while there was so much scheming to be done. So instead, Amy choked back the fleeting feeling of brokenness and kept it all inside.

Rey watched Poe and Finn interact, a fond look on her face. The two of them, along with Chewie and Luke, had been her rock these past couple of months. There had been a certain bond forged when Amy had disappeared, a bond that she’d thought would never break. But she couldn’t shake the feeling that they were pulling away from her. Or maybe it was her that was pulling away. Either way, she constantly felt this sick tug at her stomach, like she’d just been punched in the gut. 

“Luke’s giving me a day off tomorrow, so maybe we could train then?” He’d told her that she should simply rest, especially after the session that they’d just had, but her body felt like a livewire. She already knew that she was going to train later in the evening. Another session tomorrow wouldn’t hurt. 

“Battle meditation. Luke found out that I apparently have a knack for it,” she said, her words coming out a little slow. A knack would be an understatement. Luke had told her that he’d had an inkling about it before, but it wasn’t until about a week ago that he’d found a text on the ‘Net that covered the ancient legends of battle meditation. Ever since then, it had been practically nonstop training. 

It was something that could win the war. 

“What’s that?” Poe asked, frowning at the unfamiliar term. 

“It’s this meditative state that a Jedi can reach in the midst of battle. Well, they don’t have to be in battle. But it’s like I reach out to the troops’ minds and can improve morale, stamina, coordination, and coordinate plans and information with them.” She paused, trying to think of how Luke had described it to her. “It’s like instead of having one mind in your head, you have however many of your troops.” Poe just stared at her with wide eyes. 

“So it could help with the war?” Her entire body ached even though she hadn’t done anything beyond her normal morning exercises. It was like her brain was buzzing, and could explode at any second. Learning how to do this was difficult, but her resolve was cemented when she saw the look on his face. 

“Absolutely.”
