guys i’ve only got a month left of uni!! once that’s done, i am SO coming back to this account!!
i’ve had to stay off it for my own good to prevent myself developing another obsession that will prevent me from doing my work.
it got so bad i literally spent a week obsessing over CORONATION STREET of all things?? just bc my parents had it on tv. yeah exam season is killing me
can someone recommend steve x reader fics that are set during the plot of s5? im only seeing ones set in the epilogue. they’re cute but i want the drama and angst of season 5 😭😭
listen i am thrilled that bowie’s version of heroes is in st5. it’s a song that is so important to the show and im glad we’ve got it in st5…
but if that’s the song that the duffers were hyping up…im kinda confused. they said it was a song that had never been used in a movie/show before…look how many things its been used in…
idk is there another song in that leaked tracklist that’s never been used before??? did someone lie to the duffers about heroes 😭😭
im not complaining about heroes at all, i love that song and im happy to just get some more songs in s5 bc the vol 2 soundtrack was disappointing. im just confused bc the duffers made it sound like they were going to be the first ones to ever use a song on screen…and by the looks of it they’re not 😭😭
i have mixed opinions. i really enjoyed the episodes, episode 6 might be one of my favourite ST episodes ever and ep 5 was really good! episode 7 started really well but i think they could have handled a lot of the exposition better.
im gonna list my positives and negatives, please tell me your thoughts! obviously spoilers ahead ❤️
positives:
• i really liked max and holly’s storyline. i know a lot of people are saying the monologue went on too long but i thought it was really important for both characters
• max’s return was so beautiful and i loved her reunion with lucas
• i really liked what they did with steve and dustin. their emotional conversation was very well executed and so needed
• jancy finally being honest and realising that a proposal wasn’t going to fix things was another scene that I think was needed. I think jancy needed to take a break because they were becoming a little toxic. id rather them split, work on their individual issues and (hopefully) find their way back to each other in the future
• will’s coming out. i have mixed feelings but I did find it a very emotional and sweet scene. im happy that he came out and was accepted by his friends and family. i thought max and jonathan’s reactions were especially nice to watch
• as an eddie fan and defender, i think steves outburst was valid. yes it sucked to hear steve speak about eddie like that but it wasn’t him hating him. it was him taking out his insecurities about not being enough for dustin. it was a very human reaction to 18 months of anger and pain. plus steve apologised and explained why he said it. also steve saying that eddie died for nothing…didn’t we all criticise the duffers for unnecessarily killing eddie bc it could have easily been avoided?
negatives:
• im not a huge fan of the humour this season. a lot of it feels out of place and forced
• whilst i like that mr clarke now knows why the kids kept asking him random questions, i think the story/explanation was so rushed. a lot more could have been done there
• el should have been given more to do. she’s supposed to be the main character and hasn’t had much screen time
• i think a lot of stuff about the lore behind the upside down and henry’s plan was rushed but I don’t want to judge rn bc i expect that will be expanded on in the finale
• will being trapped in vecna’s mind felt INCREDIBLY rushed and kinda wasted potential but i do think that’ll come back in the finale so i won’t judge yet
• like i said, i have mixed feelings on will’s coming out. it felt a bit random that people like murray & kali were there. will’s sexuality has been an important part of his character and he has struggled for multiple seasons to open up about it to his mother, brother and best friend…and now he’s telling some random people he barely knows? idk i feel like it should have just been joyce, jonathan, robin and the party there for the actual scene? idk bc i know everyone’s experience is different but this is the general feeling ive seen on social media about it
• a kinda minimal complaint but i feel let down by the soundtrack. the other seasons use of music has been incredible but it’s barely been used this season (other than kate bush)…however i really liked when it’s cold i like to die coming back for max’s resurrection
anyway that’s my thoughts! I’ll probably do a part 2 bc im gonna re watch tomorrow!! pls tell me if you agree or disagree? i really wanna hear other perspectives on this bc it could change my opinion!!
