Tim’s POV
I immediately grew concerned for (Y/N). That metal hit her so hard, and there was nothing I could do. I just stood helplessly as she was injured. My heart dropped, and I wanted to scream. Someone I had grown fond of was hurt and now in the hospital, fighting for her life. After what felt like an eternity, a doctor came out to provide an update.
“Is she going to be okay?” I ask.
“She’s going to be just fine. She has a few broken bones and a bad laceration on her cheek, but we were able to stitch her up and repair the broken bones. She won’t be able to work for a while as she heals, maybe light duty at best.”
“Thank you, doctor,” I say. There was a bustling in the room and several questions of “she is okay,” “what happened,” and a few “are you okay.”
“Doc said she’s fine, just a few broken bones and that laceration on her face. I say. “It happened so fast.” My voice cracked; I tried not to cry.
“Hey, no, don’t do that, don’t blame yourself for this,” Angela said.
“If she wasn’t so far away from me, maybe I could’ve pushed her out of the way.”
“Guys, she’s awake,” Lucy said, and I saw everyone look at me.
“Hey champ, how are you feeling?” Sergeant Grey asked.
“I’ve been better,” she says.
“You gave us quite the scare there, kid, especially Tim,” said Angela, giving me a look that only we knew what it meant.
Just then, a nurse walked in and said, “Okay, there are too many people in this room. If you want to stay, that’s fine, but only one person at a time.”
“I can stay,” I offer, and she is surprised I offered.
“You don’t have to, Sarge, I’ll be fine,” she agreed back, but it did me no good.
“I’m staying, T.O. orders.” She couldn’t argue with that.
“Here (Y/N), take my card and call me if he becomes too insufferable,” Angela says, winking at me.
“Rude!” I said as everyone filtered out of the room.
“Tim, you really don’t have to stay,” she tries to remind me as I kick off my boots, vest, and everything that made me a cop.
“I told you, I’m going to stay, Boot. You can’t get rid of me,” she blushed, and I just smirked; I like that I have that effect on her. I knew it was wrong, but I had feelings for (y/n). For weeks, I told myself this wasn’t professional, I-we could get fired for this, but she’s beautiful and sweet, yet I know she’s going to be a badass cop. I did my best to fight how I felt, but in this moment, alone in a hospital room, off the clock, I can say how I feel without being caught…at least for now.
We kept quiet, neither one brave enough to speak first, so I decided to be a man and just do it.
“Hey, I have to tell you something,” I said, coming to sit on the edge of the hospital bed.
“Sure, what’s on your mind?” She asks.
“Well, you are actually,” I say frankly.
“I’m sorry, what?” She asks, her full attention now on me.
“I’ve been thinking about you a lot, honestly, and I know I shouldn’t, but I have feelings for you. Especially since you got hurt, I felt responsible for what happened, and that’s when I knew.”
She looked at me, her eyes as wide as saucers; did I just make a huge mistake?
“No,” she finally says.
“No? What do you mean no?”
“I mean, you can’t have feelings.”
“You can’t tell me how I should feel! I like you, and I think you like me too.”
“Well…” I was waiting for what she had to say, but she stayed quiet.
“I’m right, aren’t I?” I said, more as a statement than a question.
“N…” Again, she stopped herself.
“Why can’t you say you like me too?”
“Because, every time I do, people prove to me why they can’t be trusted.”
“But we’re cops; we don’t trust people anyway.”
“I shouldn’t have to feel that way about my personal life.”
“No, you shouldn’t, but I promise you don’t have to worry about that with me.”
“That’s what everyone says, how will I know you’re different?”
“Because you know you can trust me; I am your T.O. after all.”
“Isn’t that why we shouldn’t be doing this?”
She had me there. Maybe we shouldn’t do this. I stand up and start walking over to her bed.
“Maybe we shouldn’t, but wouldn’t it be fun sneaking around like two teenagers? It could be really exciting,” I say, lowering my voice and giving her a knowing look.
She looks up at me with her big (y/e/c) eyes and shifts in the bed. I wondered if I was making her uncomfortable, but she held my gaze anyway.
“Okay,” she says.
“Okay?” I asked, surprised she had a change of heart.
“I do trust you, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t develop feelings for you too, after all this time. You just have to understand, I’m very guarded because of my past.”
“I know, and I’m willing to prove to you I’m not like your past relationships. There’s no one I care about more than you, and I will do anything to show you just how much I care. You really have no idea how I was feeling when you got hurt. It drove me crazy knowing I couldn’t help you, but seeing your smile again, it makes my heart happy.” She smiled up at me, and my heart swelled, much like the Grinch.
“Will you do something for me, Sarge?” she asks, biting on her lower lip just slightly.
“Anything,” I answer.
“Will you hold me?” she bit her lip, waiting for my response. I got up from the chair and came to her side. I waited for an invitation, and she threw back the covers. Very carefully, I slide into the bed next to her. I was moving slowly, for fear of hurting her; she was still healing. Silence filled the room as I pulled her close, wrapping an arm under her shoulders and the other across her stomach.
“Is this okay?” I asked, making sure she was fully comfortable. I felt her legs brush against mine, and I could hear my heart racing in my ears. She rolled onto her side and scooted closer to me, nuzzling into my chest. I ran my free hand up and down her arm, and I felt her exhale as she relaxed into me. This was one of the most intimate moments I’ve shared with a woman that didn’t involve sex. I just wanted to be near her, whether anything else physical happened. Do I want to make love to her? Of course I do, but I want it to be because we truly love and care about each other, because I know other men haven’t treated her well.
“You smell good,” she suddenly says, taking in a deep breath. I chuckled, and her whole body shook with me.
“Thanks, I try,” I say. She leans back to look at me. My eyes study her face, taking in her beautiful features. Her eyes would sparkle, especially when she looked at me. Her nose had this cute little button shape that I just wanted to tap, and her lips were full and pink; I couldn’t wait to kiss them.
“Thank you for staying,” she said, her voice barely audible.
“I’ll always stay with you, until you tell me to go,” I say, kissing the top of her head. We stayed wrapped in each other’s arms for a while, both of us falling asleep and being content right where we were.
“Whoa, look at that,” someone said, but I didn’t care enough to see who was there.
“Oh, I’ve seen this once before,” I recognized that voice as Lucy’s.

“Is she going to be okay?” I heard someone ask, it was Tim. Just the sound of his voice made my heart race. He was concerned, and he held my hand in both of his. I felt so small compared to him.
“She’s going to be just fine. She has a few broken bones and a bad laceration on her cheek, but we were able to stitch her up and repair the broken bones. She won’t be able to work for a while as she heals, maybe light duty at best.” Another man’s voice said, a doctor, I assumed.
“Thank you, doctor,” says Tim, and I felt him drop my hand. There was a bustling in the room and several questions of “she is okay,” “what happened,” and a few “are you okay” to Tim. “Doc said she’s fine, just a few broken bones and that laceration on her face. Tim said. “It happened so fast. His voice cracked. Was he going to cry?
“Hey, no, don’t do that, don’t blame yourself for this,” Angela said.
“If she wasn’t so far away from me, maybe I could’ve pushed her out of the way.”
I felt my heart ache. I couldn’t believe he was blaming himself, so I forced myself to open my eyes.
“Guys, she’s awake,” Lucy said, and I saw everyone look at me.
“Hey champ, how are you feeling?” Sergeant Grey asked.
“I’ve been better,” I say.
“You gave us quite the scare there, kid, especially Tim,” said Angela, giving him a look that only they knew what it meant.
Just then, a nurse walked in and said, “Okay, there are too many people in this room. If you want to stay, that’s fine, but only one person at a time.”

“I’m staying, T.O. orders.” I couldn’t argue with that.

“Rude!” Tim says as everyone filters out of the room.
“Tim, you really don’t have to stay,” I remind him as he kicks off his boots, his vest, and everything that made him a cop.
“I told you, I’m going to stay, Boot. You can’t get rid of me.”
“(Y/N)” I say, wondering what my name would sound like coming from lips.
“(Y/N), yeah, I guess after everything we’ve been through, it's good to be on a first-name basis. But at the station, it’s Sergeant Bradford, got it?” He says, and my heart flutters with the way he took command.
“Yes, Sir. Will you…?” I start to say, but don’t finish my thought.
“Will I what?” He asks, and I shake my head.
“Nothing it's silly.”
“Come on, tell me. You trust me, right?” I had to think about that for a minute. As my T.O., my Sergeant, I trust him with my life, like we were trained to do. But on a more personal level? I wasn’t so sure.
“Um, I guess,” I saw him scooch to the edge of the recliner that was set up for family members, and his bright blue eyes sparkled as they looked at me.
“Will you hold me?” I bit my lip, thinking I had screwed everything up, but he got up from the chair and came to my right side. He waited for an invitation, and I threw back the covers. Very carefully, Tim slides into the bed next to me. I was wondering why he moved so slowly, maybe for fear of hurting me. Silence filled the room as he pulled me close, wrapping an arm under my shoulders and the other across my stomach.
“Is this okay?” He asks, making sure I am fully comfortable. I felt his legs brush against mine, and I could hear his heart racing.
I couldn’t speak, afraid of what I might say, so I nodded. Okay, so this has to be unique, right? He certainly doesn’t get into bed and hold all his rookies. A million other thoughts run through my head as I lie in bed with my boss. No stop (Y/N), just enjoy this, he may never do this again.
“What are you thinking about?” He asks, pulling me from my thoughts.
“I’m not thinking about anything,” I lied.
Tim moved over so he could look at me and said, “(Y/N) I’ve known you for a while now, we spend 12 hours a day together for several days a week. I know you.”
I sighed; he was right, he does know me. “Are we crossing a line?” I ask, worried about what he would say.
He shifted and cleared his throat. “You know, maybe, but is it worth it to you?” He asks.
I didn’t want to admit it, but I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. “Yeah, it is, at least I think it is.”
Tim rolled over onto his side so he was facing me. “I think it is too,” he said, smiling.
“So, what do we do now?” I ask.
“Well, I think the first thing is we go on a proper date, although these not planned little rendezvous have been pretty fun,” he grins.
I laughed, red tinting my cheeks. “That is true, but I want to be serious about this,” I say, trying to sound determined.
“I want that too. I haven’t had this much to protect someone, to care about someone so much since…” his voice trails off.
“Since when?” I question.
He cleared his throat and did his best to avoid eye contact. “Not since my ex-wife. We got divorced a few years ago, and she passed last year. It was completely sudden, and we never knew what caused it. She had a massive heart attack at 38 years old. Made no sense; she was as healthy as a horse.”
I could tell he was holding back his tears; his Adam’s apple gave him away. I took the initiative to pull him close and hold him. He didn’t sob, but I felt tears falling onto my arm. I shushed him, running my fingers through his hair. Soon enough, I didn’t feel wetness on my skin anymore. He looked over at me, blue eyes watching me, like he was waiting to see what I might do. I was frozen, not that I could go anywhere, given my situation, but I held his gaze, my heart racing. Was this it? This moment? He soon leaned forward, lips brushing against mine as lightly as a feather would brush against skin, and then, fully touched lips, locking with one another. Feelings of neediness, want, and desire pulsed through my veins; I’ve wanted this for so long. I couldn’t fathom the fact that he was kissing me with as much passion as I was kissing him. He was gentle with me because of my injuries, but his lips devoured mine; he didn’t care in the least bit.
“We’re doing this, right?” He asks, pulling back to lock eyes with me.
“I’m all in,” we both show off stupid grins and bring our lips together for another kiss.

When I saw Tim again, the air was thick. Yesterday he held me, he actually wrapped both his arms around me, pulled me close, and offered himself up as a comfort. I may have imagined the whole thing but I think he kissed me. Well, it was a kiss on my head but it was a kiss nonetheless. My boss kissed me. Was this a normal thing? Did he comfort all his rookies like this?
“Good morning, Sarge,” I say, walking over to the rookie table at the morning briefing. He couldn’t even look at me, just offered me a nod in my general direction. Throughout the briefing, I was in a daze, a million different thoughts running through my head.
“Be safe out there,” Sergeant Gray said, ending briefing like he always did. Everyone got up from their seats but Tim didn’t move so I remained seated. I watched the room empty around us and then we were alone. Once again, he didn’t speak, just grabbed his coffee, his phone, and his war bag and we were back out on the road. Driving around the city was eerily quiet; he still wouldn’t look at me.
“Tim?” I ask in a small, careful voice. Normally, he would get mad at me for not calling him Sergeant Bradford but he kept quiet, his eyes fixed on the road ahead of us. “You can’t even look at me”! I said, exasperated with the man beside me.
“That shouldn’t have happened, yesterday at the hospital, I, I shouldn’t have held you or kissed you. It was unprofessional and it won’t happen again,” he said, finalizing the conversation but I was in no way finished talking.
“Hang on a second, you don’t get to decide when this conversation ends; I have thoughts too. Yesterday meant a lot to me. I never mentioned this to anyone else but I’ve been in Serena’s shoes before; my ex-boyfriend was extremely abusive with me, both physically and mentally, so being in the hospital again, dealing with an abusive situation, hit home for me. You being there for me the way you were, meant everything to me. It proved to me that you aren’t always an asshole, and believe me, I was almost convinced you only had a mean streak. Tim still stayed quiet but he did something I wasn’t expecting. He took one hand off the steering wheel and reached over to grab one of my hands that was in my lap. I looked down and saw him squeeze my hand. I looked over to him but he kept his eyes on the road. He didn’t let go either, just kept driving so I sat in silence, my eyes never leaving our hands. His was much larger than mine, hair lining each of his fingers so I ran mine over each of his; he had freckles sprinkled on his hand too. His skin was soft but there were calluses on the palm, probably from all the times he gripped a gun tight. I turned his hand over so his palm was facing up and I absentmindedly traced shapes onto his skin. It had been years since I was this close to a man but I knew Tim wouldn’t hurt me.
“Alpha 2-3, we have a call of traffic assistance needed on the shoulder off of I-110. Caller states he is trying to change a flat tire but cars are flying too fast and he is worried he is going to get hit.” A dispatcher calls over the radio. Tim takes his hand back places it back onto the wheel and quickly turns the shop around to take us up onto the freeway. Luckily, we weren’t too far away so we were able to get to the driver quickly.
“(Y/N) grabbed some traffic cones from the back of the shop, I got the lights on so that should alert drivers to slow down. I’m going to see if I can’t help the driver.”
I go around the shop lift the trunk and find several traffic cones. Grabbing as many as I could in my arms, I rush over to where Tim is and try to place the cones around.
“Not too close to together! Spread them out and put them further out from the car!” Tim yells over the sound of the cars rushing by.
I walked slowly to the edge of the car and began placing the cones around the perimeter before I heard my name being screamed out. I didn’t have a chance to react, just looked to my left and I saw a piece of metal come flying towards me.
Tim’s POV
(Y/N) was the most infuriating Rookie I ever taught, well next to Lucy, but there was something about her that made me want to be close to her all the time.
“My ex-boyfriend was extremely abusive with me, both physically and mentally, so being in the hospital again, dealing with an abusive situation, hit home for me. You being there for me the way you were, meant everything to me. It proved to me that you aren’t always an asshole, and believe me, I was almost convinced you only had a mean streak.”
I couldn’t believe she knew exactly what Serena was going through; I wanted to find that man and beat the shit out of him. I barely knew (Y/N) but since I’ve known her, I’ve known her to be the most beautiful and stubborn woman I’ve ever met. Who would want to hurt her? She was smart as a whip, and her instincts were sharp as a tack; I’ll admit she was a good cop. Mostly because I was training her but she had a way with people that can’t be taught. She knew just the right things to say and do to make people comfortable and to open up to her. She was good with the victims; perps, not so much. Granted she hasn’t handled them as much because I step in; I guess I’m rather protective of her. Of course, I couldn’t tell anyone but when I saw her break down last night, it was like I wasn’t in control of my own body. The next thing I knew, I was on the ground with her, holding her tight, trying to keep her safe from anything bad happening to her. Then after her confession of being in the same situation as Serena, I grabbed her hand and squeezed it. She seemed stunned by my action, hell so was I, but it just felt right, especially when she didn’t let go. She kept her eyes on our hands and she began drawing shapes on my palms. I felt my chest tighten a bit at the callouses but she didn’t seem to mind. Her fingers played with the hair on my fingers and she traced the freckles on my skin too; it felt innocent. I was enjoying the touch of her skin against mine and sitting in silence but of course, it didn’t last long.
“Alpha 2-3, we have a call of traffic assistance needed on the shoulder off of I-110. Caller states he is trying to change a flat tire but cars are flying too fast and he is worried he is going to get hit.” A dispatcher calls over the radio. I take my hand back place it back onto the wheel and quickly turn the shop around to take us up onto the freeway.
“(Y/N) grabbed some traffic cones from the back of the shop, I got the lights on so that should alert drivers to slow down. I’m going to see if I can’t help the driver.”
“Hey man, I’m Sergeant Bradford, I’m here to help,” I say to the young driver of the car. He only seemed to be about 17 years old and like he never changed a flat tire before.
“Hey thanks, I’m Logan. I would appreciate someone helping keep that traffic away from me as I do this,” he said, chuckling a bit.
I laughed a bit too and said, “Well my partner is actually working on that, do you need help with the tire?”
“That would be great. My Dad hasn’t had time to teach me yet so I don’t really know what I’m doing here.”
“No problem, here, let’s find your jack and lift up the car,” I say and do what I said, finding the jack and the spare and started cranking the lever to lift the car off the ground. I looked over and saw (Y/N) placing around the car but she wasn’t doing too good of a job. Oh, sweet girl. I thought to myself.
“Not too close to together! Spread them out and put them further out from the car!” I yell but I don’t know how well I’m heard over the sounds of the cars rushing by on the freeway. I kept watching her for a moment and as I did, something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. A car swerved to miss us, crashing into the concrete barrier, and a chunk of the front bumper broke off and flew right toward (Y/N). I screamed her name but it was too late; she was hit.
A/N: WARNING: This chapter mentions domestic assault and rape so PLEASE proceed with caution! It's not a graphic description, but it's enough that it may be disturbing to some readers. There is some fluff later, so please stay for that!

The next morning, I decided to get up early and head to the station earlier than expected. I want to make sure I will stay on Sergeant Bradford’s good side. I thought I would also stay on his good side by getting the shop ready, and I still managed to find time to grab a to-go cup of coffee for both of us. I walked into the conference room, where I sat in the front, and immediately stood up when Sergeant Bradford walked in.
“Good morning, Sarge, I got you a coffee,” I say, extending my hand to him, and offering the coffee.
He gave me a pointed look, as if he didn’t know how to respond, but took the coffee from me anyway.
“If you’re expecting a thank you, it won’t happen. Go sit down,” he said, pointing to the front where my seat was. I nodded at him before taking my seat.
“You just can’t be nice to the poor girl, can you? She’s trying and just wants you to like her,” Lucy says to Tim.
“I’m not here to make rookies like me, Luce,” Tim explains.
“No, but you are being too hard on her for no reason! I can tell she has good instincts.”
“Then maybe you should train her.”
“I would be so much better than you!” Lucy argues back, and Tim rolls his eyes.
“Alright, everyone, settle in,” Sergeant Grey said, and everyone took their seats. “Today we have a community event. One of the local charities in town does a small carnival and they invite first responders from all over the city to partake in the festivities. This is a great way to get out there and meet the locals, express their concerns, etc. We also are still tracking La Rio and his crew. There have been more assault calls in the city than we can keep up with so we need to have eyes and ears throughout the city. Sergeant Bradford and Officer Jones will be leading the command so if you see or hear anything, report it to them immediately. That’s all; stay safe out there.”
“Damn, I can’t believe I won’t be going to the carnival,” I whine to Walters.
“No Sir, I just thought it was a good way to meet the public,” I answer quickly.
“Well you’re too new for that, right now it's all scut work and because you’re with me, I have to do it with you so I don’t want here any complaining.
“But Walters is new too, why does he get to work the carnival?!”
“What did I just say, Boot? No complaints! Now go get the shop ready,”
“Damn Tim, you’re just so nice to your new rookie,” Angela says, walking over to him, sarcasm evident in her tone.
“You know I’m not paid to be nice,” he says back.
“While that might be true, you can be a little nicer to her. You never know, you may need her one day,” Angela said, adding a little smirk and walking away.
“Sarge, do you need me to grab both bags?”
Tim just turned me to, like he couldn’t believe I just asked such a dumb question, so I muttered an apology and grabbed both sets of duffle bags that held a lot of our necessary supplies for the day and threw them into the trunk of the shop and scurried into the passenger seat. As usual, the drive was quiet and tense. I took this as an opportunity to study Sergeant Bradford…Tim. He had the most perfect quaft hair, his eyes were a stunning shade of blue, and his jaw was sharp and defined and always set like he was pissed off most of the time. His lips were the prettiest shade of pink and not too thin but just full enough to want to kiss until you were blue in the face.
“Boot, did you hear me?” His voice pulled me from my thoughts, which may have been a good thing.
“Uh, what?” I admit, my cheeks turning pink.
“You weren’t listening. I said we have a call of domestic violence that we need to take very seriously right now. What’s the first thing we’re going to do when we arrive on the scene?”
“Oh um, we find out who the victim is and separate them from the suspect. We want to get both sides of the story, take photos of any injuries, see if the vic wants to press charges, and offer any form of victim advocacy programs available.”
“Good, remember to be impartial and not show any emotions.”
“Well I’m not a robot but I’ll make sure to reign in my emotions.”
When we arrived at the house where we got the call, there was screaming and the sound of things being thrown around. I followed Tim’s lead as he slowly pulled his gum out and motioned for me to follow him. He kicked the door in and yelled, “Police, show me your hands!” Nothing changed so we called for backup.
“This is Alpha 2-3, Sergeant Bradford, requesting backup at 1452 Sunset Blvd. Suspect has not responded to commands and we need some help.”
Soon enough, the sound of sirens surrounded the house and more officers came running into the house. We were able to track down the suspect and he was soon arrested, while I was responsible for the victim. My heart sank as I looked the victim over; she had bruises all over her arms and legs, blood coming from her busted lip, and one of her eyes was swollen shut.
“Hi, I’m (y/n) what’s yours?”
“Serena.”
“Serena, would you come with me? I’m here to help you, would you like that?” Serena just nodded and needed some help standing, so I called Lucy and she immediately jumped in to help.
“Serena, this is Lucy, she’s one of the best cops we have, she’s going to be here with me and you every step of the way. Do you want to go to the hospital, and get checked out?” I say.
Serena nodded again so Lucy grabbed her by one arm, I grabbed her other, and we guided her outside and to one of the patrol cars.
I sat in the car next to her, per her request, and we headed to the hospital, Tim in the car behind us. We told the nurses that we were with the LAPD and needed a private room where Serena could be checked out away from the eyes of anyone else. The staff immediately came to our aid and we followed them to a room away from the public.
“Serena, I’m Dr. Gresham, I’m going to be looking after you. I know what you’ve been through and I’m so sorry but with your permission, I would like to treat your injuries but only after a rape kit is performed. Were you raped?”
Serena nodded and she permitted a rape kit to be done on her. She also wanted to fully press charges against her attacker although she was scared to death. Lucy and I stood by her side as each test was done and we were with her as she recounted the details of her attack. She had been out with a man only a handful of times before he came to her house, where they were supposed to just have a nice meal and watch a movie, but after too many drinks, he got upset when she didn’t wash dishes right away and he beat her up and took full advantage of her. That was right before we showed up. She had found a voice and she screamed at the top of her lungs, hoping anyone would hear her and she could get help. Lucky for her, we heard her and we got to her as soon as we could. When we were done with our questions and the doctors were done with their assessment, I finally had a chance to walk away and all my emotions came crashing down. I slid down the wall across Serena’s room and I cried more than I had in a long time. My face in my hands, I didn’t care who heard me, no one should be treated the way Serena was.
“Hey, you okay?” A voice spoke from above me. I looked up through my watery eyes and saw Tim looking down at me with a concerned look on his face.
“No,” I say and cry more. Tim slides down beside me and wraps his arms around me. I sink into him and let all my emotions out. I knew this probably wasn’t appropriate, to be held and comforted by my t.o but this was an extreme circumstance and we would handle whatever disciplinary actions came later. Tim ran his hand up and down my arm and lightly pressed his lips to my head. I pulled back to look at him as he swiped some tears from my cheeks, our eyes lingering on one another a bit longer than normal, but our moment was interrupted by Angela, who told us we were needed back at the station.
“What was going on there, Timothy?” Angela asked.
“What, she was upset, I was just comforting her,” Tim said matter of factly.
“And having an intimate moment, staring longingly into each others’ eyes?” Tim rolled his eyes.

"Daphne! You must make haste!" A voice screamed at the top of their lungs, jolting me awake.
I didn't recognize the voice or the room I was in. Wait, where am I? This wasn't my bed, this wasn't my room, where the hell am I?! I threw the duvet off me and bounded to my feet, grabbing a rather beautiful robe off the back of the door and running down the hall. I rounded a corner and was met with a grand staircase. I don't have stairs in my apartment. I came to a halt and stared at the bottom of the stairs; was I in a museum? I grab the handrail and let the smooth finish of the wood run over my palm. I reached halfway to the end and was shocked to see a large group of people standing around as if they were waiting for someone; Daphne, I assume.
"You are not Daphne," a young boy said, looking up at me with big doe-like eyes. Every head snapped to look where the young boy was looking; I felt like I was on display.
"Who are you, and how did you end up in my home?" An older man, who appeared to be no older than I, asked in a strong and assertive tone. I wondered if he was the head of the household by the way he was speaking to me, and there was no male older than him present. I soon realized I didn't answer, which only seemed to make the older man upset.
"Madam, did you hear what I asked of you? Who are you, and how did you end up in my home?!"
"Uh...well...that's hard to explain," I say. This caused everyone to look back and forth at one another, confused at what I just told them like I was speaking another language.
"What is this language you speak?" The same man asked.
I had a hunch, so I decided to go with it. "What year is it?"
"It is the year eighteen hundred and sixteen," says a young girl.
"Oh shit."
"I beg your pardon? Madame, I will not ask you again..."
"I know, I know," I cut the man off. "Look I'm not from here."
"That's rather apparent," another man piped in.
"No you don't understand, I'm from a whole different period. It's the year two thousand and twenty-five where I'm from!" Looks of shock and gasps of air filled the room around me.
Suddenly, I felt myself being grabbed and thrown against the wall; the oldest man had me pinned.
"You are a witch and you are NOT welcome here!" He yelled right in my face. I soon panicked and tried to find the right words so he would let me go.
"No, no, I'm not, I don't know how I ended up here but I can promise you, I'm just a normal woman; nothing exciting happens to me. Please let me go!" I begged.
"Anthony, please let her go. She's just a girl," a middle-aged woman, whom I guessed was the matriarch of the family, said and the man did as she asked.
"But Mother, we do not know if she can be trusted."
"So we will give her a chance."
The man, Anthony, eyed me again then dropped my shirt from his fist and he let me go.
"I don't know what happened but I just...ended up here," I explained
"How do you mean?" The youngest girl in the group asked. She seemed to be the only one who was curious about me, not quick to judge me like the others.
"The last thing I remember was I was out drinking with some friends and I went back home and then when I woke up I was here." No one seemed to believe the story I told. They all still looked at me like I had three heads.
"But that is impossible," another young man said.
"I know but I'm telling y'all that's what happened! I don't mean any harm, I just want to go home!" I was desperate at this point and I just wanted someone to be compassionate with me. I couldn't help the few tears that spilled past my eyes. The mother of the group walked over to me and placed a gentle hand on my shoulder.
"We will help out in any way we can to get you back home. Until then, you may stay with us; we have plenty of room."
"Thank you, I guess now would be a good time to introduce myself' my name is (y/n)."
"Hello (y/n), I am Lady Violet Bridgerton and these are my children; Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Gregory, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, and Hyacinth." Lady Bridgerton had each of her children bow or curtsey when their names were called.
"Wow, you gave birth to all these kids? Ouch!" I say and quickly slap my hand over my mouth. Everyone was once again surprised by my language and the topic of some of the things I said.
"Oh I apologize, we say things rather more bluntly than you are used to," I say and smile sheepishly.
"Language changes that much?" Colin asks.
"Yes, we have shorter ways of saying words or sentences like 'don't' instead of 'do not' or 'isn't' instead of 'is not.,'" I try and explain.
"You said something early that was rather funny; y'awww?" Gregory attempted to say 'y'all' and it was the cutest thing.
"That's y'all. It's a way of saying 'you all' meaning a group of people. It's rather popular in the southern part of America."
"You're from America?! What's that like" Hyacinth asks and she bounds over to me. Her eyes were wide, waiting for an explanation.
"Hyacinth, give her some space," Violet says.
"No, it's okay. Well, America where I come is a big and beautiful country. There are fifty states or areas where people live and everyone is different. Some are bigger than others and have different things they are known for. There are big cities with giant buildings that go up to the sky and then there are small towns where there is nothing but land as far as the eyes can see!" I exclaim, proud of where I come from. Everyone seemed so fascinated with my story; everyone but Anthony just scoffed and walked out of the room.
"You'll have to forgive Anthony; he does not adjust to change very well," Violet states, offering me a look of sympathy.
I don't know why but his actions hurt me. As if I was annoying to him, he just stormed out.
"Oh um, that's okay, it's hard for me too sometimes. I'm going to uh, retreat to my room."
"Alright, well please let us know if you need anything. We are going to a ball and you are more than welcome to join us," Violet offered but I shook my head.
"No thank you, I think I need to be alone right now," I give a small smile to everyone and make my way back to the room I woke up in. I turn to head back up the stairs and I almost run into Anthony.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Anth-" I begin to say but he cuts me off.
"You will address me as Lord Bridgerton and nothing else and you will do your best to avoid me. I do not like you nor do I wish to have anything to do with you, is that clear?" I nod my head and step around Lord Bridgerton. I don't know what his problem was, but I knew I had to avoid him at all costs.

1816 Meets 2025- Anthony Bridgerton x Reader- Introduction
"I need something BIG to happen in my life! I'm almost 30 years old, and nothing too astonishing has happened! Same old, same old, day in and day out. What's going to change?" I say to my friends and take another shot of whiskey. The burning sensation in my throat is welcomed with an exacerbated sigh. I wasn't wasted in the slightest bit, but I was ready to go home and sleep until I was dead. "All I want is for something good to happen to me. Maybe I can fall in love with someone; that would be nice." I don't bother discarding my clothes but I kicked off my shoes and fall face first on my bed. Sleep soon follows, the alcohol adding to the exhaustion.

A/N: Hello friends! I know it's been a while since I've posted anything, but I've become newly obsessed with Bridgerton, so I had an idea to write a fanfiction for this show! Feedback is always welcome! Requests are, of course, welcome too! Each chapter will have its own warnings, but below are the general warnings.
Warnings: Anthony is a rake (we all know this), and he doesn't adjust well to new things, lots of fluff, time traveling, angst (somewhat), swearing (from both time periods)
