Foxing - Sunspotting
Really great, new band from St. Louis featuring members of Family Might and Badgerhunt! Even if you're not a fan of those bands, you should still check this out. The song writing is really mature and there's a lot of vocal power to boot. New stuff will be coming from these guys soon, including a split and a planned full length!!
We’re getting stickers and buttons printed for our tour with High Fives. We’ll probably end up putting the left over online.
As if you don't already know, this blogs ringleader, Jake, is going on tour soon with his band Our Sunday Affairs! Be sure to check out if they're coming near you and hit up one of their shows!

Solomon Solomon - Lent, or, ink on
Solomon Solomon was a screamo/post-rock from Virginia that lasted from 2009 till 2012. The band features members of Perfect Future, Age Sixteen, Studying, and probably a million other bands. Sadly this is their only release, besides a few demo tracks. They've been working on perfecting this one album over the entire lifetime of their band, so the amount of effort put into it means you're in for some pretty passionate stuff. The style of screamo they play is very fast and dark, but also has plenty of moments of Explosions in the Sky style twinkling post-rock and even some Age Sixteen like moment. Their style is best compared to Funeral Diner and City of Caterpillar, but the thing that shine with them is the use of the dynamics. The flow of them is so much more great than even Funeral Diner. Each calm is as beautiful as the last, and with each intense explosion of distortion, blast beats, and screaming, you feel the power and aggression. If more screamo was like this, rather than the string of "twinkle daddy screamo" or the simple octave chord non-sense, then I feel the scene would be a lot more thriving and be looked at as being more mature. Great band, that had to go too quickly.

NORTHEAST SUMMER TOUR 2012 - https://www.facebook.com/events/345527502187626/
I'm just finishing this now and it rules. Catch these boiz on tour if you can.
In case you missed it, here’s the opening song from our upcoming EP, City of Dogs. It’s called Police Rock and it is about existing in a space where every foreign thing scares you. This EP may or may not be about a drug abusing adolescent during the end of the world. Expect to hear the rest of this thing a lot sooner than you think. We hope you like it. :*
SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION
Torchlight Red - The Raft We Arrved On
Torchlight Red was an indie/post-rock band from St. Louis, Missouri from 2005-2010. Whenever the band started the members were in junior high and it took a while for them to develop a sound, but what came out was amazing. Torchlight takes cues from bands like Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, American Football, but also have somewhat of a early Modest Mouse sound to them as well. The band takes full advantage of their three guitarist and two drummers, who often times take over other instruments such as trumpets and glockenspiel, to create a moving ambient pieces that build up, calm down, and explode, while bassist/vocalist Conor Murphy, sings his brilliantly written stories, full of imagery over the beautiful backdrop. The opening track on the full length, titled "Climbing Mountain, Climbing ", is constantly repeating the tracks title and gives you an idea for what's ahead. Music that takes you to the peaks of highest mountains, but as soon as you reach the top it gives you so much more. Their longest track Oak, clocking in at 7:58, is a long emotionally driven piece. The midway point of the song, begins with the end of a climax and goes into softly strummed chords and Conor's soaring vocals, with a slight feedback. The song ends with soaring choir of "Oh's" and is a great climax. The closing track, In Our Prime, shows all of the young musicians talent. As soon as the vocals and fill exchanging drums come in, you can feel the amount of passion put into it. Soon, it drops, and the first very start of the song is repeated with slight differences. The drums soon have a tribal sound and the first explosion of the song is underway. The next drop comes, with twinkling bells and guitars, Conor repeats "So young, so filled with innocence. We all fulfill our promises.", until the closing track finally ends with a massive stop-start crash. The Brown Eyes EP, is also a very promising look, at what could have been one of the biggest bands in the indie scene. The members later went on to be in Family Might and many are now in the band Foxing.

The Summer We Went West - Live at a Small Brown House
Out of all the new emo bands that began to crop up in the mid 2000's many of them relied heavily on the same formulas and tricks used by genre veterans like Mineral and American Football. Baltimore's The Summer We Went West did not. They stood on their own as a kind of hybrid between pathetic poetic honesty and drunken inhibitions. Many of their recordings are filled with seemingly out of place dissonant noise. I personally think this gives the band a certain charm. The vocals are also wonderful, often a slurred together mix of loud and soft. They're honestly a cut above the rest and really help separate this band from the others. The two albums they recorded (Praise the Holy Moon Goddess and a Tour CD-R) both have an immensely unique atmosphere that I haven't seen replicated since The Brave Little Abacus' Just Got Back From the Disappointment... None of that really matters though seeing as how this is a live acoustic set. There's still an atmosphere, as the majority of chitter chatter between songs is still in there. There's also a few drunked slip ups, but hey it adds character. I believe around 3 or 4 of these songs were previously unrecorded which is cool seeing as how they rule. In the end, these songs rule. They're sad, they're sassy, they're unique. Everything I look for in an emo band.

Mix #1 ///
I made a mix. Some songs are acoustic, others are not. All of the songs are sad. If anyone downloads this I guess I'll keep making them. That being said I don't see many people downloading this.
