auto immune disorders happen when the immune system ignores regulatory factors and begins attacking healthy bodily tissues, due to what scientists refer to as "sheer love of the game"
It’s when ACAB applies even to the microcosmos 🤪

People love Star Wars because of the catharsis. Its easily digestible “good guy/bad guy” dynamic. Irony how “Only a Sith thinks in absolutes” is the quintessential Obi-Wan quote.
The assholes openly admit it. The whole point of college is to enforce the hierarchy. When those who were supposed to be low on the hierarchy started going to college, the assholes get angry and want to make them suffer for challenging the hierarchy.
It never ceases to amaze and disappoint me how entire civilizations, POWERFUL civilizations, have not matured past schoolyard bully behavior. “How dare you gain leverage!”
one thing about americans is that they know how to make a fucking milkshake
i hate the stupid milk consistency shit you get here like if you give me a milkshake it better be rock fucking solid. i want that thang thick like concrete. it should piss me off trying to drink it through a straw. i should have to wait for it to thaw
Americans are so good at making Beverage. One of our Foundational Moments was actually a party involving Making Beverage. Google "Boston Tea Party" for more
American beverages are more addictive than crack cocaine.
Well, technically cocaine was once part of an American beverage, so, yes.
Good call.
They took cocaine out of the drinks because it was the least addictive component
American beverages on a road trip is the last thread of patriotism I can feel
I want to print this and hang it on my bedroom wall. How do you live like this?
this person is posting from 1690
As someone who’s fervently pro-space exploration, I’m grateful I learned something from this post. We must proceed with caution.
Hey. Memory Cell. Mast Cell. B Cell. Would it kill you three to cool your jets a little? 🤧
physicists: think they know enough to be an authority in other fields
chemists: don't think they know enough to be an authority in other fields
biologists: aren't even sure they know enough to be an authority in their own firld
mathematicians: don't understand why you seem to think they'd ever want to leave the beautiful and pure realm of numbers and have anything to do with any other field
Team biology here. THE PAIN IS REAL.
the most valueable skill a white leftist can ever learn is how to take an L with grace.
You gotta be able to take an L if your moral and ethical belief systems are to be capable of guiding you. Otherwise you just have an idealized self where you get really mad and scared when anyone points out it isn't actually you. How the fuck are you gonna walk the walk if you can't handle being told when you are not, in fact, actually walking it
you cannot just socially transition into being a good person you are going to have to settle for being a messy human being who has to try and fail and keep trying to get better like everyone else. yeah even when it's embarassing and sucks for you a lot.
Ya gotta learn to earnestly and honestly say "Oh shit, my bad."
And to then end the sentence there, not launch into a paragraph of explanation or panicked super-apology.
This is such a hard yet important balance to make. I work to make sure I’m taking accountability gracefully. It also hurts immensely because I know if I were in the other party’s shoes, I’d feel hatred and not just anger. Then again, I can tell when people are well meaning and it’s easy for me to forgive. Hell, not even forgive but just casually correct in that situation.
It’s also important to learn to distinguish between sincere accountability and *weaponized* accountability. One commenter mentioned not dogpiling on well meaning people. That’s important. That isn’t the same as coddling either. Tbh it’s telling when people think being graceful yet firm is the same as coddling, as if we HAVE to be cruel in order to correct someone.
We’re social creatures wired for *both* community *and* hierarchy. We all have moments where we want to mend, and moments where we want to break. Even though I’m white, I’m intersectional nonetheless. I remember in the Millennial days of Tumblr when I got powergasms from attacking people “more privileged” than me, heck, it didn’t have to be me doing the attacking. I loved seeing the Bad People^TM finally getting hurt. The other side of that coin is being intensely afraid of *being* one of those Bad People^TM. It took me way too long to grow out of that and it’s still an incomplete process.
Just started a blog for my Etsy! That’s where I’ll post my work moving forward. This blog is my more unhinged one ❤️
@cinnamoncaterpillar
saw someone trying to roast this guy on reddit but all the comments were just like "fuck off, that's based"
nature is healing
FUCK YEAH.
I’ve been racking my brain for years, thinking “I hate that I see a point in Jigsaw’s motives when torturing people. Our ability to think critically, empathize, and cooperate will atrophy when we’re used comfort, and that erodes the foundations of civil society.”
Except, I don’t think torturing people, hacking off their limbs, let alone killing them is the way to go. Quite unethical no?
So then I thought “We need the gentle parenting version of Saw traps”
Then I asked “Ok what the hell would a gentle-parent Saw trap be??”
My first idea was “community service for vulnerable life. Think hospital or wildlife rehab. Make people bond with fragile human beings or animals and understand loss.”
I saw several flaws with that idea as well as pros. It was a start. But it felt incomplete, let alone full of potential for abuse.
You all have no idea how often I’d go “UGH WHAT DO WE DO??”
Then I saw this post. A light just clicked. We can simulate hard situations to get people to think. It’d be good for documenting individual growth and behavior too. It’s not perfect; nothing is. But holy hell it’s the closest I think we have to “gentle parent Saw trap to force appreciation”
Finished this last night. Nickel silver with a porcelain cabochon. I’ll upload it to Etsy when I have better pics
It would be kind of fun to have a medical dramamedy show where people (patients and people in the medical field) could submit their craziest experiences with the medical system and those plotlines and patient stories could be dramatized and woven into a cohesive narrative with any additional profits from the show going to pay off medical debt.
Plotline A: Patient is suffering from a near fatal case of hypothermia after passing out in the snow drunk and laying there all night until his 13 year old nephew discovered him in the morning, said 13 year old managed to transport his druncle to the hospital on a snowmobile but the rest of the family cannot make it there due to road conditions.
Plotline B: A live rat fell through the ceiling halfway through an emergency appendectomy, causing the surgeon to startle and rupture the patient’s appendix. Infectious disease is very interested in the situation due to the risk of zoonotic infection. The hospital’s legal department is also very interested in the situation.
Hey OP what happened to you
I’ve been chronically ill since the age of 14 and I enjoy eavesdropping
Damn I don’t remember these details from those two Ozzy and Drix episodes 🙊
Make a stink about it at City Hall!!! I don’t live in Seattle but it works. Be persistent, BE ANNOYING!!! This is unacceptable and your voice has more leverage than you think!
people love the idea of the mean girl nurse pipeline because it problematises medical abuse as a personal perversion rather than understanding it as a product of broadly held ableist values and its like, if this was only about ontologically evil teenage girls choosing to enter a profession because of their unique sadism then you really wouldnt expect to see the exact same forms of abuse pervading all arrangements of paid, unpaid, formal, ad hoc, and familial caretaking as well -- its more comforting to believe the nurse was just a preexisting bad person than that most of the world broadly hates disabled people and will abuse, neglect, and gaslight them if given power over their care
This relates to my mistrust of almost anyone in power. Billionaires aren’t unique special spawns of satan. They’re formerly “normal” people who didn’t have the power to let the demons win without consequences. Power enabled what was already there.
$1,000,000 deposited into your bank account every day for the rest of your life or sex with Jafar?
does jafar love me
hell no bitch
I couldn’t care less about sex, but I don’t fully trust myself with that kind of monetary setup either.
so basically you’re forced to fuck Jafar for your own good
That’s even less ethical!
