Being angry at someone was a total different story. Kenna was mostly familiar with hate – and this was not a common thing she had with this girl. This was not the face of a person who hated someone, she was just hurt over a dumb ass who decided to pack it up and leave. For a moment, the blonde wondered if this was how she was five years ago when Amiri left. “Look, my first boyfriend – first everything to be more exact, disappeared without even saying goodbye. I didn’t have many friends when I was sixteen so it was a pretty big shock to lose someone who just was there for you. I get it.” Pausing, Kenna’s hand moved to grab the girl’s stool, turning it around so she could face her. “But that’s life, you know? You suck it up and you go on because you’re strong and you have to survive. I don’t want to sound like those people who are going to tell you there are plenty more fish in the sea, but you have to suck it up. This is not making you weaker, you stayed and fought when he left. So yeah. Suck it up.”
Seo Hyun looked up at the girl and couldn’t help but feel bad. One thing was breaking up, but disappearing without a word...wow. That was fucked up on so many levels. But she did have a point, Seo Hyun knew she needed to move on if she was going to do well this school year. She still had many things she needed to do and just because Ki Jae was gone, didn’t mean that she had to give up on everything. She nodded her her head. “I know I have to...it just really hurts, you know?” The brunette sat up a little straighter and took a sip of her drink. “I’m Seo Hyun.”she said when she remembered she didn’t even introduce herself to her.
“Because.” Casper took another sip of his drink before putting his arm around her. “One day people will notice they’re gone and notify the police which will lead them to interrogate bunch of people and if you’re one of those lucky few then you can tell them exactly who did it and what happened.” He squeezed her a bit. “And then you’d get a stamp of approval from the feds and hopefully a lollipop.”
“....Ahjussi, you’re really strange.” Seo Hyun said after a couple of minutes of just staring at him.
Amiri nodded, smiling at Seo Hyun. “Yes, anything you want… I will try to make. I really know my way around a box of mac’n’cheese though, I must say.” He laughed, pulling her out of her bed so she’d stop moping around. Amiri headed in the direction of the stairs, shrugging at the request for meat. “Okay, do you have something specific you want?” He asked, not knowing many cuisines that she’d be accustom to, but he’d be willing to try.
Seo Hyun giggled lightly and got out of bed with his help. “Hm, I don’t know. Maybe steak or ribs --or I don’t know, something with meat.” The brunette said, shrugging slightly as she followed him down the stairs. She was always very indecisive when it came to food because she just loved to eat everything. It was a problem considering she liked to maintain a skinny, but healthy weight. “You know I’m not picky....well, with food.”
“Are you sure about that?” Zoe asked in an even voice and slid onto the stool anyway. “Because you’ve been sitting here for a while now, and no one has joined you… Wanna tell me what’s wrong? Maybe you would rather be alone, but you’re crying, and I can only ignore my conscience for so long.”
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Seo Hyun sniffled as she wiped her tears away and lifted up her glass up to her lips and took a sip of it. “You can sit though, it’s fine. It’s mostly just weird men I don’t want sitting next to me.” the girl responded.
“I did too. It doesn’t seem possible. Gotta… I mean, you still have your goal. It would have ended, right? If you had to go back to Korea, and be a part of the company- they…” He sighed, stopping himself from continuing. He probably shouldn’t have rubbed it in that they would’ve ended anyways. “It’s like… a necessary sacrifice.” He reached over, rubbing at her arm, before grabbing his sweating drink, swallowing half of it in a go. Sweet things were always trouble for him, they normally ended up with bloating before he could actually get drunk off of them.
"We were planning to get married when we went back home after college because then there’s nothing our parents could do. We’d be together forever....” Forever didn’t seem to last them more than seven months though. She really thought they could do it -- they really convinced themselves, only to have it shattered before their very own eyes. Both Seo Hyun and Ki Jae had goals in life and they needed their family to back them up so they could achieve that. From that perspective she understood the breakup. It didn’t make it hurt any less though. “How am I going to do well in school now, oppa? Ki Jae always took notes for me and made sure I’d get my work done.”
“Stay at home moping around about the fact that my brain swelled up? Hell no—” She said before taking a large gulp of air. “Sorry, that’s not me. I don’t like being inside during summer anyway. No thanks, my place is literally two minutes down the street. Worst comes to worse I’ll drag myself back and go to bed.” Giving her a noncommittal shrug, Sierra offered her a small smile. “What about you, huh? Need me to call someone? You don’t look like you’re all that happy either.”
“Alright.” Seo Hyun said, not pushing it anymore. If the girl felt like she was okay to be outside and at a bar, then who was she to argue with her --right? “There’s no one to call...” Ki Jae was gone now. Sure she had friend, but no one as close as Ki Jae. “I just need my drink, that’s all.” The brunette said, lifting the glass to her lips and took another sip of it. “I’ll be alright by the time I finish two more of these.”
“Oh, no… no, no, I’m so sorry.” His chest felt hollow, always taking it hard when love is forced apart. Emilio was always a wreck during movies, and watching Seo Hyun broken-hearted was another level of empathy that made him ache for her. “Oh, love.” His eyes teared up, blinking a lot. “I…. maybe….” Emilio got to know more about her family, and Ki Jae’s as well, in the last few weeks especially. Platitudes wouldn’t help. “That’s fucking awful, Seo Hyun. It’s gonna be awful for a long time. I’m gonna be here for you through this shit, shit time though, okay?”
"Thank you.” she sniffled and wiped away her tears, not wanting to break down again. It meant a lot knowing that she wasn’t going to be alone and that her friends would be there for her. “I really thought we’d never break up, y’know? I thought he’d always fight to be with me.”
Sora sighed, pulling her arms away so that they rested in front of her on the bar. “Have you spoken to him at all since he left? Have you tried calling him?”
“Call him and say what? Unnie, I can’t call him. If he wanted to talk to me, he would have called, wouldn’t he?”
“Hey now.. don’t say that.” Sophie said softly, before pressing a kiss on Seo’s forehead. “I know you do.. I know. Have you tried to call?”
“Not really, no.” she sniffled softly. “It’s not like we can get back together so I haven’t called him. He hasn’t called me either.”
“Ouch.” Casper placed his hand over his heart, pretending to be hurt. “You know if you wanted to be alone you could’ve just said so.” He chuckled at himself, amused at how the girl reacted to him. “But since we’re already talking…” He moved to the seat next to her, his brightest but creepiest smile shining through. “Once I was trying to cook spaghetti but I ended up setting fire to the stove so instead of putting it out I threw some gasoline in it and just let my house burn down. As I was outside I realized I forgot about the people I was keeping in the basement but by that time they had already burned down. It was pretty cool.” He took a sip from his beer. “Just kidding it was just one person.”
Seo Hyun picked up her drink and took a sip of it. She sighed when he continued to talk to her. Suddenly she did wished she hasn’t told her driver to leave her alone. He was really good at keeping people away from her since he knew how uncomfortable she was around people she didn’t know well. Her eyes widened at the story he told her. It wasn’t true, was it? It couldn’t be. “Why are you telling me this?”
