Anyways, now that this train wreck is officially over, I’d like to thank Nathalie Emmanuel, Indira Varma, Oona Chaplin, Sibel Kekilli, Amrita Acharia, and additionally Alexander Siddig, DeObia Oparei, Jason Momoa, Elyes Gabel, Nonso Anozie, Jacob Anderson, and Pedro Pascal for giving incredible performances and doing the Absolute Most to bring these characters to life despite shitty racist and sexist writing. They’re all phenomenal actors who deserved far better than Douchebag and Dickhole. I for one, can’t wait to see all these actors move on to bigger and better things.

If Alina's KoS bleating is to be believed and her power loss was some sort of a karmic punishment for succumbing to "the same gReEd as the Darkling," it creates some pretty hilarious implications.

The thing is, the Darkling lived and used his powers for god knows how many centuries and was not particularly humble about it. The narrative wants us to believe he was actually super greedy, power-hungry, and corrupted with time. Yet he didn't show any signs of losing his power. Grisha can live for over a century, yet there are no precedents of them ever losing their powers for "greed" or any other reason for that matter. The subsequent overempowerment of Zoya only further cements the point. So the message really is not "power corrupts", it is that Alina is uniquely corruptible, morally and mentally impotent to an exceptional extent, and ultimately unworthy of power. She used it for less than a year and apparently sucked at it so badly that the universe had to personally intervene and fire her from the position of a sun summoner for her woeful incompetence and spectacular inadequacy. There is no hope that she might grow and learn to use her abilities in a more thoughtful and responsible way. The only way is to take it away like a box of matches from a particularly obtuse toddler. In the context, it looks less like punishment for greed and more like the universe hastily correcting its mistake of granting power to an utter moron.
