Yes, I love playing Zelda games
So, Jaejoong's new single is really good and all, but unfortunately this is all I could think of when watching the music video:
I'm too tired and annoyed to formulate a proper post about this year's Eurovision, so here's the bullet list.
The good:
Denmark understanding the assignment and sending in a twink with a banger song.
Albania delivering one of the best ballads in the contest history.
Serbia doing some really great goth metal.
Croatia giving us another witch circle.
The United Kingdom giving us the most British performance ever.
Moldova having the most fun song of the night.
Finland delivering a completely live performance, instruments included.
Lithuania sending art.
Romania doing the most.
Austria having an actually really fun song (I will die on this hill!)
JJ's new song being better than 70% of the competition.
Hearing Lordi do covers of old Eurovision songs.
The stage-ready sound being from "Die Zauberflƶte".
The stage-ready design with the spiral of light around the stage.
Israel not winning.
The Bad:
The show looking like a TV production.
The hosts.
The interval acts (especially the Austria vs. Australia one)
That stupid tone deaf Professor Eurovision segment.
Denmark performing first in the final, denying them any fair chance of winning.
The camera breaking during Czechia's performance and them being denied the chance to perform again.
Montenegro and Switzerland not qualifying.
The jury and public scores being all over the place.
Lithuania not scoring with the jury or the public.
0 points for the UK from the public.
Israel getting a decent jury score (for what???)
Israel buying votes (again!)
Israel almost winning.
Bulgaria winning both the jury and public vote (genuinely how?)
Bulgaria winning (worst winner since 2011, imo)
Edit: Martin Green saying that Russia could return to Eurovision even if the war is still going on.
I wanted to make a post yesterday evening about SHINee's comeback teaser, not only because I'm excited about Key's return, but also because it's been 13 years since they last released a mini-album. Unfortunately I forgot, but it's never too late.
However, this morning I checked Twitter and saw a post by MBC slandering Key, arguing that 6 months is not enough to make up for "his mistake" and honestly, that pulled me back down to earth a bit. Because what the fuck?
I guess they are still doing this bullshit, which is really funny because not only has Amazing Saturday's and I Live Alone's rating & viewership declined since Key left, but they also keep re-uploading clips from his episodes with Minho to get views. They should be down on their knees trying to get him back, not attempting to victim blame him more.
Frankly, I think it's crossing over into slander, but SM is probably not going to so anything about it. So, instead, maybe they should just avoid MBC during their comeback promotions and let them suffer.
So: when it comes to shipping in general, what are you personal rules for it?
Well, rules is a very strong word. I don't really think I have any. As long as the characters involved have chemistry, I think most things are fair game.
I guess one thing that does give me an ick is any adult/minor ship. I don't mind age gaps in general, but that is where I draw the line.
Incest as well, and I don't think I need to explain why. It's just weird.
And thoughts on crossover shipping?
I don't mind it and it can lead to some interesting dynamics, which is pretty cool, but personally I don't have any crossover ships myself.
...Crossover group?
Oh, my time has come.
A crossover group, or classical crossover, blends classical music with pop music (hence the crossover).
My personal favourite crossover group is Forestella, a quartet from South Korea. They have two opera-trained singers, Cho Mingyu (a tenor leggero) and Ko Woorim (a basso profundo, also husband of figure skating icon Kim Yuna), one musical actor/singer, Bae Dohoon (a tenor) and one guy who didn't initially have any training whatsoever, Kang Hyungho (a countertenor, also has a few solo releases under the stage name PITTA). They are all extremely talented and fairly well known for their cover performances. This one is my personal favourite:
They're actually releasing a new album this month, which I'm very much looking forward to and I can only recommend checking them out, even if just for the vocals, because they'll always deliver.
Question: what are you thoughts on crossovers?
Depends on the crossover.
If it's between two shows of the same franchise, like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai, I don't mind them and do enjoy reading/watching them. Though the writing can be a little inconsistent, especially on the official ones.
Between two completely different shows, I don't mind them either, but I won't go out of my way to read/watch them if it's a fandom I'm not interested in.

The Sham Hatwitch from Dragon Quest XI. They're just little guys that make cute little pig noises. Don't make me kill them, please.

Ori and the Blind Forest, if that counts. Otherwise the Ancient Cistern from Skyward Sword.
Just when you think things couldn't get worse, Ilia is talking about landing quintuple jumps in training. Haven't you ruined this sport enough???
I have a lot of thoughts about BTS' comeback and none of them are positive.
None of the songs on the album are particularly good, some downright bad and something really got messed up in recording, because the vocal processing is downright awful. But I guess that's what happens if you write an entire 14 song album in the span of 2 months.
Which brings me to my next point: Writing a full album is not something a songwriting camp should be used for. The short time span is just not enough to clean everything up and there are so many names on each song, that this can't even be called a self-produced album, in my opinion. Diplo being one of the main producers also is not a good look. Not only does he have multiple SA charges against him, but he also has taken photos where he proudly displays the rising sun flag, which really is a slap in the face when you're making an album called ARIRANG.
It also is really weird to make an album called ARIRANG, that neither has love songs nor anything to do with Korean culture. Hell, the music video for the full English title track was filmed in Portugal and is about them pining after a white woman.
Honestly, if you want to have a song that celebrates Korean culture, while also being modern, might I recommend checking out Topp Dogg's Arario instead?
Finally, it also seems like in the past four years they have lost all chemistry as a group. Maybe it just seems like this because I have only seen clips from their performances and the livestream, but to me it feels like they're rather performing against each other than with each other. Could also be because of that clip of V trying to gaslight Jin into feeling bad about going on tour instead helping with the album though. That was just a weird thing to say on live and extremely uncalled for.
I got tired of looking at rants and reactions to Heeseung leaving on Twitter, so I checked the more important website.

And now we have Junsu performing on M Countdown too. The world really is healing.
2025 Retrospective: Movies and TV Shows
Movies
Maria
From the name this movie might sound religious, but itās not. Itās about the last few days of Maria Callas, a soprano singer, where she recollects moments of her life to a reporter who might not be real. With that premise, you might think that itās simply a biographical movie, but it really isnāt. I still donāt know much about her going out of it and it also contains a lot of speculation, which is not ideal. However, it was still a really good movie. Itās confidently shot, the costume design is great and the singing, of course, amazing. I think the idea of using actual recordings of Maria Callas for her younger years only to fade them out into Angelina Jolieās voice before her death is really creative and showcases just how much her voice has changed and deteriorated. Her performance in this movie also is really good and carries it a lot.
Wake Up Dead Man
This one is my favourite movie of the year. Glass Onion and Knives Out were both amazing, but I genuinely didnāt think Rian Johnson had it in him to write something this good. The reveal is really hard to see coming on the first watch and then becomes really apparent on the second. I watched this movie with my sister, because she wanted to see if I could predict it and while I didnāt completely, I am very proud of the part I did. Daniel Craig and Josh OāConnor also have a lot of chemistry and of all the duos this series has given us so far, I enjoyed them the most. Josh OāConnor also gives a really amazing performance and that he hasnāt been nominated for anything this award season is honestly a crime. The phone scene alone is one of my favourites of the year.
Die Drei Fragezeichen und der Karpartenhund
Yes, this is a German movie. A German movie for a franchise that has been my childhood. Itās about three teenagers who run a detective agency taking on strange cases that seem to be supernatural but always end up having a natural explanation. This particular case was actually one of the first oneās written for the entire series, which as of right now has 234 entries. Itās about an art collector inheriting a figurine from his dead partner only to be haunted by it. Itās honestly a really good mystery story, even if you already know the solution and the child actors playing the main trio are all really good. I also appreciate that after 50 years of speculation, because of vague writing, they finally clarify that the art collector and the artist were in a relationship. If you want a mystery movie thatās not about murder, I can honestly really recommend it, though I donāt know if there is an English dub.
10Dance
Iāve been looking forward to this movie pretty much since it was announced and honestly, it didnāt disappoint. I love a good BL and my god, do these actors have chemistry. But even more than just the chemistry, the dance scenes really make this movie. Obviously. I think itās really impressive how much they trained, because Iāve seen multiple dancers break it down and all of them are impressed. The director really seemed to be out for their blood. Personally, I really love the Rumba scene in the dance studio for⦠reasons, but the final medley is also amazing. Though, I canāt quite take it seriously with that announcer talking over it. It takes me out so hard. But everything else really is amazing. For me personally, I loved Ryouma Takeuchiās performance as Suzuki. I think he carries the heart of the movie. Keita Machida was also fantastic though and still seems to be hellbent on topping every Kamen Rider actor.
K-Pop Demon Hunters
Yeah, this movie was just an experience. I havenāt mentioned any of the music so far, so first of all: All of the songs are amazing. My personal favourites are How itās Done and Your Idol and I think both of them deserve to be performed more than they are. Golden of course is the stand-out hit, but at least once perhaps? Everything else about the movie was amazing too. The animation is really clean, the fight scenes are fun, and I also love the choreos for the songs. It just all seems to be a love letter to Korean pop culture. The story and characters were also really good, though I think it might have worked better as a miniseries. There seems to have been a lot left on the cutting room floor and I think it would have helped with the characters, especially Celine.
The Perfect Neighbour
Different from the other movies, this is a documentary. A really good documentary shot entirely through body-cam footage from policemen. Itās a really cool concept, but itās also terrifying to think about the fact that there is enough to fill 90 minutes. Itās well made and very upsetting. Thatās all I really can say.
TV Shows
Kamen Rider Gavv
I really enjoyed Kamen Rider Gavv. The characters are a lot of fun, the story is well written, and all the rider forms look really cool. I think my favourite is CaKing. It looks like the perfect combination of goofy and cool. Nitpicking a little bit, I didnāt quite like the ending. It felt a bit underwhelming and Iām not a big fan of how Lakiaās story ended. But at least the V-Cinema corrected that. I also really like Shouma as a protagonist. Heās a lot of fun and I love that heās bright even though his backstory is just incredibly dark. His and Hantoās dynamic is also really great and very gay. Like, theyāre not even trying to be subtle about it. All in all, I think this might just be the best Reiwa Kamen Rider show so far. Though Build is still my favourite overall.
Haunted Hotel
Haunted Hotel is a pretty good, animated comedy show that very much seems to be inspired by Gravity Falls. The animation style is fine, but it really stands out in the writing. All of the jokes are written really well, especially those involving Abaddon (who is best boy). Itās very much episodical, but personally I really enjoyed it. A second season was already announced and Iām very much looking forward to it.
Other
Alien Stage
I donāt really know under which category Alien Stage belongs, so Iām just going to put it here. I only started following it in 2024 and the way the story wrapped up honestly is very satisfying if bittersweet. The music coming from it is all fantastic and all of the singers are amazing and deserve much more. Especially AKUGETSU and BL8M.
2025 Retrospective: Ending of the Year
Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow ED (TK from Lin Tosite Sigure ā UN-APEX)
This is one of my favourite songs of the year in general, so I donāt think itās a big surprise that itās also my favourite ending. The short version is cut a little weirdly, but I can very much overlook it, because the song is just such a banger. I also really love the animation. From the sudden title drop, which is honestly really badass to the contrast between Jinwoo now and before. The door being open, but him not leaving his room is a really nice touch.
Honourable Mentions:
To Be Hero X ED (SennaRin ā KONTINUUM)
I really like how unique this ending sounds. It has a very specific vibe of danger and worship which works really well for the show and hearing it when an episode ends on a cliffhanger is definitely diabolical (if not as diabolical as Overthink). The shots of all the top 10 heroes sitting on the throne with X getting up at the end is also amazing.
Babanbabanban Vampire ED (BotchiBoromaru ā NE-CHU-SHOW)
I think if this ending was a little bit more than just still images, it would be a lot better. The song is a lot of fun, and a bop and the animation just doesn't translate that at all. Regardless, I really enjoy the song, even though the anime is very⦠unrecommendable. People will just look at you, judgingly when you try to explain the plot.
