notes from la: Jim nowakowski gave me so much life. A lock for top 20. JAJA oh look, we got a dad dance. Lindsay Arnold sighting. Damn VIBE just keeps churning out those ballroom/everything dance robots The audition was so gimmicky but damn if Asaf isn't one of the most beautiful men I've seen in my life #thirst Jacy nearly brought me to tears. Can't even imagine what she's been through and she came out fighting. JAJA

Season 12 Episode 2 Liveblog

Hi friends! Gonna do a quick liveblog of the second episode! Note: jumping in about a half hour in because I got home hella late. Let's goooo: • I still don't know how I feel about the whole stage vs street and the seizure inducing edits are NOT helping. (um seriously, I feel like the strobe light like effects would be seriously dangerous to anyone with photosensitive epilepsy or something of the like. weren't some episodes of Pokemon banned because of effects like that? who okay'd this? End rant) • ok so we are in Detroit. • Corey "Mission" Whitfield: HOT DAMN that was good! That was some sick breaking and work with isolations. Plus: seeing him dance with his dance kiddos was SO awesome. Loved it. (Nice backflip off the stage btw) • montage of street dancers who I want to see more of but obviously won't this episode • jazz dancer Brooke Fong: oh thank god we didn't get another dad dance like past seasons. She's good though. Pretty typical ~sexy~ jazz, but she was hella sharp, and she has great great turns. • montage of stage dancers: I saw a tapper girl in there! All I want is for a tapper to make it far enough to dance their own style ( and bring back my bby zack, but I don't know how likely that is 3 years in a row, lol ) • bffs Chelsea (stage) and Samantha (street): unfortunately Chelsea did not make it, but Sam was damn good in her own style and made it to Vegas. I really liked that, and her. Plus I really loved her lipstick :) • street dancers have a lot of nicknames • Jessica Southwell aka j-south ( tap/charleston? ) : was going pretty well, then she fell but at least she had a great recovery. I kind of agreed with Paula that it was a bit juvenile. • Miranda Wilking: dancing jazz to "the Antidote" (of zack vs ricky/bj jump fame from last year) ?? Ok. She was super fierce but it was all a little one note, and I felt it could have been cleaner. But she gets a ticket anyway. She's so little! she looks like a little bby. • "creep" guy gets the judges and audience dancing for some reason. This is weird. Who let this show out of its cage? • another street montage, this time with a cute guy with a beard and beanie and one bad b with a boss ass spike bra that I WANT. also 1 guy with a bucket hat. Cool. • the Detroit Jit looks AWESOME. I like when the show does a bit of dance history and gives us actual interesting info. That's the kind of filler I can handle. • Michael Manson be dancin'. And flirting with Paula. I like this guy! That was some real fancy footwork. He's the "Jit" as the judges said. • Kelsey Rose Young (tap): this girl is tapping something fierce DAMN. Nigel seemed to really love her. I too want a mini Kels to carry around in my pocket :) • guys I love tap so much!! • Gabby Diaz (tap): a repeat auditioner from Dallas, originally from Miami. Damn I really love this song, and she is WORKIN it. Her style is so different from Kelsey's but I think I like it even better. She's really feeling the rhythm of the song and being so soulful in her taps. She's like a female version of Zack or Aaron. Have I found my bby of season 12?? Stay tuned all! • street dancer Roydell Shannon: aw his kid is such a cutie! He's an awesome dancer too. And because this is sytycd, of course they bring the kid up on stage and make him dance. But I don't think I'm jaded enough yet to find it annoying, so I'll let it be. • our final montage of who made it, from what I caught about 60 on each team from Detroit?? I'm so tired now guys.
