Yesterday I was really annoyed about this Shukan Bunshun interviewing Tegoshi and stuff. However, today I saw the actual video of it and was really surprised. For one, both sides were very polite and awkward. The man who interviewed Tegoshi sounded more like a fan than a reporter for a tabloid. Actually, with the way he asked questions and reacted it seemed he wanted to clean Tegoshi’s name, not get a scoop. It was odd and kind of cute even.
I’m kinda glad they did this, actually, so he was able to speak on the matter himself. I wonder if the media even catches onto this now that he gave definite answers.

LOL thank you! I actually had a lot more on my mind than what I posted but half-way through it I got distracted and forgot a huge chunk of the stuff I wanted to write about... hahahahaAhahaI’m curious about what other Indian fans think! I was born and raised in America and I have never been to India, but I have still grown up with the culture pretty much surrounding me. Idk what other Indian fans really think about it but I’m glad that my input means something! xD

So NEWS released a music video for their new India-themed single, Chumu Chumu, meaning “kiss” in Hindi (and other Indian languages I believe.)
My initial reaction was this:
HOLY CRAP!!!!!! IT’S INDIA THEMED THAT’S MY COUNTRY MY HERITAGE AAAAAAAAHHHHH THIS WILL BE AMAZING IT WILL BE SOMETHING OUT OF A BOLLYWOOD MOVIE OMG IF IT’S NOT SOMETHING STRAIGHT OUT OF DEVDAS THEN I DON’T WANT IT”
Well, heheh... Let’s talk about this now.

When the preview for the song was played on Kchan News, I was in the cafeteria of my high school and I had completely forgotten that they were even going to play it. I literally shot out of my seat and ran outside with my phone to listen to it. My first impression was.... “well, let’s just wait for the chorus... I’m sure it’ll be better....” and while it did get extremely catchy in the chorus, I felt lost at sea. Where was my new Bollywood hit single? Where were Raj and Simran dancing the night away? Please, someone call Sonali Bendre and show these children how it’s done.
The singing...? In the beginning?? Uhh, Shige, are you alright there? Oh wait, Koyama’s doing it too? Oh. Ohhhh. Okay, I get it. They’re trying to do that traditional thingy with their voices. Yeahhh. Erm, okay. Well I give them serious props for trying! I didn’t expect that in the least bit.
But honestly, after I listened to the preview two or three times I had a sudden realization: It sounds just like a soundtrack that would play during an India-themed track in a Nintendo Mario Kart game. I’m not lying. Just the beginning instrumental: erase NEWS from your mind and imagine it. Yeah, freaky, I know.
Now, onto the PV that I have just witnessed today. Hoooly Jesus. It took my breath away, but not necessarily in a good or bad way... I’m still speechless.
Before I say anything else, holy fudge Shige. Work it, man, work it. (gif: iris-nya) I’m still not over this. Nope. I can’t do it. Shige ohhh my goodness. A work of art, fallen from Heaven.
*ahem* NOW then, let’s talk about this... dance, shall we?
I’ve seen a lot of Indian dance. Don’t get me started on how many dance scenes from Bollywood I’ve seen, not to mention I’ve been familiar with Odissi dance since I was in first grade. I was... bewildered(?) at the sight of the dance. I could go on nit-picking it all day if i wanted to (I mean, their posture during the “Indiaaa~” part was TERRIBLE! You guys are going to get sore legs for days like that!!!) but I am already running out of rant-juice for today.
All in all, I just don’t know what to think about this. I mean, it’s certainly not bad! Hell no! It’s just... ???????
Also, I don’t speak Hindi because my parents never taught it to me since I grew up in America, so I don’t know if there even is a meaning in Hindi for the lyrics. I think the lines are backwards or something...? I don’t know, I saw a post of the explanation of the first line of the song lol.
I love NEWS with all my goddamn heart. And with that, I finish this post and I am going back to sleep now. I clearly can’t think straight anymore.
