Room Mates?!
Clenching the straps of his bags as he faced the door, Chihiro wanted nothing more than to see her face once again. However, after the way he had just disappeared from her life, he didn’t know how he could ever face her now. "I’ll go ask the landlord if there are any other places.. Thanks for the offer, and I’m sorry Mana." With that, he closed the door of the cozy apartment.
Not even an hour had past before Chihiro returned to the apartment in defeat. According to their rude landlord, there were no more available units in his, and the surrounding area. He didn’t want to move too far out of this vicinity, as it was the optimal spot for surveillance purposes.
Chihiro didn’t want to resort to this. He desire to keep Mana safe was top priority, but at the same time he was desperate for a place to stay. If anything, he could probably manage a park bench for a few nights. "Can I still take up your offer?" He asked her, as his eyes strayed to the floor. The guilt ridden boy doesn’t expect her to agree, not after what he put her through. But, perhaps this was fate giving him a chance to redeem himself.
She didn't speak as he denied her proposal, nor did she speak when he emptied the apartment. Instead, she sat on the bed, numb and lost in thought. Despite days spent waiting on him, she didn't actually believe she'd see him again. She constantly refused to accept it, but deep down, a part of her knew that he wasn't coming back. But here he was, showing up at her apartment out of the blue. Her body felt stale, and she began to stretch, hoping to feel more limber and alive again. As soon as she had returned the feeling to her body, Mana got up and went about her daily business.
Turning her head slightly, she found that it had only been six in the evening, and that the night was still young. She decided to take a bath; baths had become her sole companion over the years. It wasn't that life was particularly stressful, but it hadn't been as easy as she had dreamed. She was brushing through her mass of brown hair when she heard a knock on the door. For a moment, she thought it was Chihiro, but she quickly brushed that thought away. Perhaps it were her coworkers hoping to surprise her with a house warming party.
Mana wasn't extremely surprised when she saw it was Chihiro at the door. "Um-------- yes." She quickly noticed that he refused to look up, and she questioned why. It dawned on her that perhaps the boy didn't really like her; maybe he already found another girl and moved on entirely. As this idea dawned on her, a small frown fell onto her lips. Was she really hopelessly waiting for a boy who had already given his heart to another? It appeared to her that things were quite impossible after all. However, she still hoped that they could maybe be friends. "You can---- put your st--stuff over th------ere." She pointed towards a somewhat empty area in the room.
