During this time at home, I have been working on my puppet making.
This is the latest fantasy creature model that I've completed. Using super sculpy
Progression of my posable puppet
Started on the body with wire which I molded into the skeleton shape for the body. Including loop shapes for the ears to move in as well as a snout shape to support the head.
After this I molded the head and paws out of play sculpey and then wrapped some tin foil around the body base to hold it together. After that I added the wool baiting round the body to build muscle and form.
Next I painted the head and paw area with a base of black.
I then wrapped the legs in a black fabric to make them appear thin.
After this I added the fur quick I laid the model down on and cut arm holes before cutting the main fabric to size.
Once this was done I began work on the ears. Making a template from paper then cutting it out of my fur.
Once this was done I began to add detail with acrylics to the fur. Using a grey and a black to start with. Before adding the blue parts after.
After that it was just adding the doll eyes and he was complete!
Now having more emotion and character once the cute eyes where added.

Started off at first like this before I began improving on detail
Then added some colour as a base idea for the design.
Was using this to give me ideas on the shapes I've got to make for my own project to make posable puppets
The main difference between stop-motion puppets and other kinds is that they have an armature inside. An armature acts as the skeleton of the puppet
and must be built so that it can hold its position without slipping for each frame captured. A stop-motion puppet must also be built in a way that will pre-
vent it from falling over or breaking during a shoot. To prevent mishaps such as these, your puppet should be as lightweight and durable as possible. With
all of these points to remember, the most important principle is that your puppets must be designed based on what they will be doing, and what kinds
of movements will be required of them. It is the simple rule of form following function. What do your characters do? Will they be walking or jumping, or
will they only be seen from the waist up? Will they speak or express their feelings solely through body language? Will they need to hold a prop in their hand?
Your story or overall purpose for animating will be the ultimate factor in how your character is designed and built.
Puppet creation
First of all, you need to know what your puppet is going to look like. You need to make a detailed plan of all the measures, limb proportions, height and width. The easiest way to do so is by drawing the puppet. This stage doesn’t have to include accessories, hair, colors or clothing. The best way of doing this is by using simple drawing pencils. It’s only meant to serve as a ruler, or a schematic for sculpting. Once you have decided on what the puppet should look like and taken detailed measures of each body part it’s time for part two.
The ability to move your character is obviously the most important thing when it comes to stop motion. If you consider the fact that each second of your movie will consist of 12 or 24 frames, and that each frame represents a change in your characters’ stature, pose, face and body expression, then being able to move it as you wish is a must.
A technique commonly used to reinforce puppet armatures is twisting two pieces of wire together using a drill. This makes the wire ten times stronger, and it doesn’t reduce movability. You insert the ends of two strings of wire into a drill, hold the other ends tightly together using pliers, and as the drill is spinning, the wire forms a strong braid.
WIP blender sculpting tests
After effects green screen editing.
Had a good time today learning how to make a greenscreen and edit it. Was easier than I thought.

I attempted this project today and found it quite fun entirely.

First attempt in my little DIY set
Had to build a phone stand out of left over foam. And hung a sheet over my computer.
Did some more animating.

Been testing out my puppet and so far loving him
Final puppet, I had drawn a quick sketch before starting on him and the images is how I ended up.
Used clay foam to make the feet, chest and paws. All meterials where seccond hand and recycled.
