semanticsreally:
it started, as all things do, with a spell circle and a mistake. he drew the chalks across the floor, careful as he knelt over previously drawn areas, and dragged the last few lines carefully into place.
dunamancy was something he was slowly, slowly getting a grasp on – and he thought he had a handle on it now, when he drew the last one and the circle lights up. he rolled the piece of obsidian in his hands, anxious movements as he did so, before he stepped into the circle and felt the world twist underneath him.
oh. oh no. that was – not what that was supposed to feel like. he knew the feeling of being transported, the quick up-down yank in his stomach, and he knew what transmutation magic felt like in his hands. this was different.
gods damn it all.
it was a disorienting minute before he was dumped unceremoniously into an unfamiliar place. he had only a moment to consider how lucky he was not to be trapped in some stone wall or some other plane of existence, before there was – a person in the doorway.
a person in a bath towel wielding a rolled up newspaper at him. could his life be any fucking stranger at this point?
like any sane man, he folded his hands out, shifting into an upright position, holding himself as nonthreateningly as possible.
“ no, nein, wait – wait, i can explain. ”
Eyes narrowed down at the rightfully surprised and guilty as high hell man. It would be self defense honestly, scrubbing the man out of his house-- maybe calling the police--? No, probably not going to happen. Talking to the police was the last thing he wanted to do on his day off.
Dealing with this guy was far more easier than that.
He made up his mind finally. He flicked the paper rod upwards, before leaving it still pointed at the intruder. “Alright, get up and get explaining. I haven’t blasted anyone in a short bit, but I’m getting an itchy trigger wand finger, homie.”
A pause.
“And make it quick, I don’t want to keep dripping on my hardwood floors.”
