And so Taangst Week comes to a conclusion. *looks at empty box of tissues*. This was so fun to participate in!
If she was being honest with herself, she’d admit that she was putting off her homework because she was sulking. And if she was really being honest with herself, she’d admit that she was sulking because her best friend, whom she was secretly in love with, was currently on a date with his pretty, bubbly cheerleader girlfriend.
Toph almost couldn’t believe that her dorky best friend—who made stupid puns and liked theater and D&D—had bagged a cheerleader. She wanted to be happy for him, and maybe if she could set aside her unrequited crush, she would be. But Toph liked Aang as so much more than a friend, and she knew that she would never compare to a tall, pretty cheerleader like Ty Lee.

Where Am I At
Toph and Aang lead the best mission specialist team in their company, and they take pride in that fact. But when a notorious cartel leader threatens to take down their team, they grow weary of taking on the assignment. Not only that, but their enemy begins to infiltrate their thoughts and dreams, causing the Beifong's to be paranoid wherever they go.
They decide to accept the mission. But they both fear what this assignment will cost them.
Modern AU
NOTE: Toph is not blind in this AU.
Content Warning: Description of death, blood.
Day 5: Death
“Do you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?”
“I don’t see why not.”
Another ask! This one is sad, but how do you think toph/aang will react to hearing the news that aang/toph is slowly dying when they are in their old age?
Ouch anon. Ouch.
I know we all typically hc Aang going first, because he was stuck in an iceberg and that’s gotta mess someone up right?
... but what if it were the other way around?
What if Toph slowly gets sick, and Katara can’t do anything to help her? Aang might act strong at first, because he knows Toph is scared.
They spend the last of their time together dancing when they have the energy, traveling to her favorite places, or visiting their kids and grandchildren. But when even that becomes too much... Aang just takes care of her. It gets harder and harder. He tries not to show her how scared he is, because he literally doesn’t know what he’s going to do without her. He has been at her side since he was twelve. He doesn’t know how to live without her.
He tries to make jokes still, for her, because she hates being serious. He teases that she can’t go before him- who will be his next life’s Sifu then? “Well your earth bending is still rubbish. I’m sure you still won’t have the hang of it next time either.”
When she passes, Aang almost can’t bear it. He’s experienced grief before, but losing his best friend breaks him.
A few months later his children find his abandoned body stuck in a meditative pose, as if he went to the spirit world and never came back.
Day 4: Arranged Marriage
She almost couldn’t believe that her parents had pulled this off— this being an arranged marriage. Her parents had been trying for years, since Toph turned sixteen and was of age. Countless suitors of high rank had come from all over the world to court the elusive daughter of the Beifongs, only to turn their noses up when they realized she was blind. Broken was the word thought but never spoken out loud.
But not this time. Her parents had told him of her...condition, and he had agreed to this anyway. Apparently, his greed was greater than his desire for a perfect, unbroken wife. It made Toph seethe with rage.
Star Crossed Lovers
Aang sips from his champagne as he watches Toph and Satoru sweep across the dance floor. Katara is hanging on his arm as she talks to some Noble beside them, but he is unable to take his eyes off the couple that have held his attention all night.
